Yes, this is much better! You and friends can go to the smoke-free bar now and drink lots of alcohol and drive your car home! HOORAY!

Lol..great one more right takin away from the citzens of the U.S. ..where do you get off telling private business owners that they need to be smoke free.

Thats like telling you that you have to paint your house white beause some citzens want it white. Lame if you don't like it stay home it is up to the business owners to decide if they want a smoke free enviroment.

This is only going to hurt small business's. Resturants and Bars are losing business everyday in this stae and now this will help take away more money to the business owners.

Have you ever thought that just maybe you and your friends not going to bars is a good thing?

I GO TO BARS KNOWING I WILL WHEEZE AND REEK OF SMOKE. I LIKE THE IDEA OF A SMOKE FREE RESTURANT AND WORK ENVIRONMENT. BUT, BARS WILL GO OUT OF BUSINESS. I DON`T THINK RESTRUANTS WILL BECAUSE PEOPLE WILL EAT AND LEAVE. I SAY EXCLUDE THE BARS OR WE WON`T HAVE ANY LEFT.

I agree mimi, many small bars will go out of business right in the middle of an economic nightmare.

When I went to Hawaii (Moui), I entered a resturant and asked for the non-smoking section of course and the waitress laughed at me and said theres no smoking allowed on the island in any places open to the public. The place was packed and so was many others I visited it was great. It was great not having to ask for a certain section, and I know it will be great here too. That means more money for the BIG oil companys. So its all good. Cause we will soon be out of gas too.

I feel its not a right to smoke! I feel people that smoke in clubs, comedy clubs etc. take the rights away from others! I get sick around smoke and im tired of not being able to go to social events etc..

If you want a smoke free environment in a bar or club , then open your own , and make your own rules . That's how America is suppossed to work .

f you hate smelling like smoke, quit going there! There are plenty of non smoking restaurants to choose from. Why should I go outside in the freezing cold when you could go to another place that is smoke free? If it gets passed, you will see Michigan's economy get worse. They will have to raise taxes in other areas to make up for the millions lost in cig tax. But hey, at least you wont smell like smoke! Next you'll be wanting those with flatulence problems to be banned from public places. How many rights will be taken away until people wake up? Should ugly people be banned from public without a veil? Perhaps we should outlaw obesity because it's not pleasent to look at and is a drain on our healthcare, or dogs because they annoy some people. In a REAL free country, this would not be an issue!

ALEX: There is no such thing as a FREE country, That would be kaos; its just this one is freer than most.......your free to pick up your cigarette buts when ever you want from our nations streets...you'll probably say cold day in hell. So no wonder it should be stopped.

Just because I smoke does not mean I'm a slob. I use an ashtray and am very clean. I see plenty of drunks toss out the empty beer cartons on the street and all kinds of junk food wrappers and fast food garbage. That argument is flawed!
As far as your Free country being chaos, A free country means you have rights, when those are taken away it's a dictatorship. If smoking should be banned, then outlaw it completely or leave it alone. Alcohol is the leading cause of death in teens and a major factor in date rape. Why don't we ban that as well!

Hey - let's tell our congressmen & women how we feel. I don't think this is the government's place to step & decide for businesses. If the consumer base wants it, the business will follow suit, tons of businesses are choosing to be smoke-free, let's not mandate it. Sign my petition:

If I were the type who believes in conspiracy theories, I'd say that the government is doing this to keep people living longer and working longer in order to pay taxes longer.

Hmmm, then again, when you think about it.....

We've lost our rights to be free. Our rights have been stepped on, spit on, and urinated on by a select majority.
Who sets the rules that satsify some, but destroys it for others?
Who thinks the right to smoke and where to smoke should be the decision of Americans.

Here is a comment made by steveisacartoon:

DON'T GO STEVEISACARTOON. Find someplace else to go. What gives you the rights to say that all the ones who smoke should quit to satisfy your pathetic whims and whines? If you don't like it, build your own establishment, fill it with defibrillators and be happy.

AH HAH, so that is what it boils down to... ban the smokers from having a good time so that the non smokers can stay at the bar longer to get drunker, THEN to go out driving to kill school children.

You holier than thou nonsmoking liberal RETARDS who never served a day in uniform EARNING their RIGHTS as smokers what to turn this place into a communist state.

I have one question for you; what is the difference between a communist and a democrat? Answer: The spelling!

Take it from a smoker who spends THOUSANDS of dollars every year in restaurants what is going to happen to the states economy. What new liberal laws are they going to pass to protect your liberal cowering in fear of the agitated smoker who snaps and goes postal.

Cigarettes ARE HOMICIDE SUPPRESSION INHALERS! Don't mess with my medicine that keeps people like you alive! (just a figure of speech... kinda) :-)

SMOKING is a RIGHT! Not a privilege like... say driving.
Leave us smokers alone, second hand smoke STILL HAS NOT BEEN PROVEN, or has any one else noticed that smoking rates have gone WAY down over the past few decades yet still cancer rates have INCREASED, smoking is NOT to blame, we need to look at other possible causes like maybe PLASTIC, you laugh, but look at what usage has been on the rise since smoking rates have declined.
We have known for about a hundred years that oil causes cancer.
Look at what most of our daily dining ware is; both regular and disposable (fast food, junk food) have you ever noticed that when you pour cola into a plastic cup that there is an oily film floating at the top, THAT IS CANCER CAUSING OIL, NOT tobacco! Or that when you peel back the cellophane wrapper off you Twinkie that your fingers will feel oily and it is not from the cake, it is from the wrapper.

So before everyone starts to bandwagon, part of the herd, sheep like lifestyle that America has sadly gone to, please look elsewhere before attacking the homicide suppression inhaler (that by the way, I think Blue-Cross should pay for, since they do it for asthmatics) that so many of us NEED.

Zoot........ I don't mind if you have a good time or not, you still don't have the right to ruin others, time. As time goes on its supposed to get better. Live and learn, you seem it think its ok if others do it. Deep now you must know its over. Get over it.....you might like it
