Stunned this morning whilst reading the AP reports that scientists are working on splicing animal and human DNA, and also the combining of three human DNA strains into embryo's
makes me wonder where do we draw the line? When they are already spitting in the face of the natural order of creation who gave them the authority to play God. The arrogance of their own ignorance is stupifiying. To combine Human and animal DNA is a blasphemist, I don't belive that this is a funded experiment. How dare we, as a speices, manipulate the creation of lifeforms which have no right to exsist. The effects of this kind of science is detremental to the exsistance of not only the human race but that of the ecological structure of the planet,
yet the media thinks this is the best thing since sliced bread. I haven't been this outraged...ever. This is a crime against all of whatever God you chose to belive in and logic in general. It is time to stand up to these Frankstein type of studies. We are not ment to create whatever manimal we feel like trying to hocus pocus into being. Think about that, while you
grill up your cloned cattle steak. Unreal. Just unbeliveable.

I think there are some thing's that we should leave to god and nature. If these scientist need something to do they should find cures for cancer and aids. We already feed animals growth hormones and add things into fruits and veg. to mass produce and I think that may be why there is more sickness today then years ago, no telling what all this cloning will do.

If these scientists were cloning to produce replacement limbs or skin, I could see it. But every person wants to make their little mark in history-Making a living being swells their heads and makes them think they are God or whatever. With all the diseases running rampant on our planet, this cloning issue is not for humanity, it's for some idiot seeking a Nobel & fixing what was never broken in the first place.

For those of you that believe in god, I have a question.
If there is a god that created humans, did he not give humans the capability to learn? We humans only use about 10% of our brain capacity and are evolving everyday. As humans evolve they gain a better understanding of the environment around us and knowledge that it includes.
If there is a god, I am sure (according to your bible) that he is all powerful and all knowing. If this is a truth, than he would have known that humans would become sophisticated enough to create life, albeit from life. One day humans will be able to create life from nothing and become gods in the truest form.
Am I saying that this is OK to do? More than likely not. But will I stand by and stop the course of human evoloution seeing that we have the brain capacity to do this? NO.
I find it exciting and worth looking at. As long as people (Children as in embryonic stem cell research) are not hurt in the process.

Whatever force gave us free will allowed us to choose from right & wrong. The natural evolution of animals, humans, whatever shouldn't be considered a tinker toy for scientisits with too much time on their hands. Whether one believes in God or any deity for that matter, what gives us the right to interfere with a natural chain of events that has been happening since the dawn of man? Now we don't have to wait for two livings things to mate-We can just make one ourselves-Disgusting and most of this cloning stuff is for faster living being production & profit, not for some major medical gain.

We had such a grand understanding of the enviorment during the industrial revolution,hu?
We can't comprehend how the mayans made their calender but we can control the events that come from cloning.
We weren't ready for the industrial age let alone the biological age. Regardless if you belive in a God or not. I don't buy into religious dogma myself but who are we to try something just because we can. Hell you could put a bullet through your brain...doessn't mean that you have to because you can.
The couldn't predict the effects of Vioxin, yet you want to trust these clowns with bioenginering. I think not.

I'm with president Ratt on this one . God gave us the ability to use uor brain , so lets use it . The Omish believe that us making cars , phones and motorcycles are blastphemy . Experimentation is what has given us everything from clean water to spacecraft . After all , are'nt we one of Gods' experiments ?

Experimenting with non-living things is one deal-To attempt to bypass the natural process and shortcut the genetic chain of events is a totally different ballgame. On certain animals for medical reason, OK-On humans, only if the process dosen't involve "building" a person by installing certain genes or DNA to make it smarter, faster, whatever is crossing the line. We have no right to interfere with the life process, especially when most know that these "research experiments" are more for profit then to benefit mankind. If this research is to replace a person's failing organs or limbs, what happens to the life that was created for that purpose?

There is very good reason for what they are trying to do . Some animals have natural imunities to deseases that humans contract for one example . They aren't trying to build a frankenstein , they are trying to prolong the life of humans , as well as increasing the quality of life . Imagine in a decade or two being able to eliminate such things as MS , alzhimers , MD , Parkinsons deasease , spinal bifida and many others . Don't look at as building a new DNA ladder , but as replacing a couple of bad rungs of the ladder instead .

Steve Austin, Astronaut, a man barely alive. Gentleman, we can rebuild him. We have the technology. We have the capability of making the worlds first bionic man. Steve Austin will be that man. Better than he was before. Better, stronger, faster. Ratt

Hey Car I just read your bio and I am glad to hear you have four years. Hang in there and get that 5 year token, I have 10 years now and it has been a struggle at times (My sponser is dying of cancer) but hey ain't as bad as it used to be. I don't know if there is a way to send a message so I thought I'd give ya some props, One day at a time brother, ..."and the wisdom to know the difference" that's the hardest part.

One of the things that separates the animal kingdom from humans is that humans have a conscience. (Yes, it is questionable when we talk about personality disorders like anti-social types). But my questions are:

If scientists do splice together human DNA with animal DNA, will we one day not know the difference?

What impact will science play on human evolution?

What impact will science play on animal evolution?

With these clowns it makes me question if the conscience has already been sapped from humanity

People like Norman Borlaug have saved billions of lives (in fact, when Norman Borlaug was awarded the Nobel Peace Price for Genetic Engineering crops it was estimated that he had personally through his research saved one billion lives) through scientific research. Why is cloning animals bad? Why do we know what we think we know except that it is what we have always been told and heard nothing else? Why is cloning animals in order to feed the world a bad thing? Simply condemning cloning and genetic research because it sounds bad isn't a reason, it is a knee-jerk reaction. The only objection the author of this thread really put forward is that this act is heresy. What is so immoral about feeding the poor and advancing our understanding of genetics?

P.S. Ratt, humans use more than 10% of our brain, that is just an urban myth.

If you don't remember, "Frankstein" was designed to illustrate not that the creation was the abomination, but the prejudice of those who pursued it was. All the Frankstein "monster" wanted to do was exist, it was the irrational hatred of it and the demand of its murder that the author was highlighting. By referencing Frankstein you are just peeing on your own feet here.

First, all avatars drawn by yours truly, I will do my best to keep them current. (Thanks Channel 2 for the page, still fair and unbiased on the web...lol Ron Paul 2008) I really hate to be the one to shake the foundations of the sheepoles trust in a system that could care less about any of us. But hey, some ones has to do it. I love to hear the comments from those that come across my page, but if you think you have facts to support your view then by all means bring it to my attention. But if you disagree and have no substance or facts to back your view then don't waste my time or your own. If you have no support written or video regardless of the source I will delete your comment. So to all the cats that just don't like what I have to say, or the views I bring up. Tough, because I will use my first amendment right while we still can. It's time for us as a nation to take back our country from the Military industrial complex, Look around. When the Military can take over a middle school in our very own state, (Wyoming Michigan) and wave guns in the faces of our children in the name of an anti-terrorist drill with no authority from the parents or the students, or taser you for drinking a beer on the street in front of your house while talking to your neighbor,It won't be long before they come into your home take your guns and ship you off to one of the many "Slave" Camps that FEMA has set up across this country. You can investigate what I say for yourself or you can be led to the slaughter like the sheep they hope you are.
