Press ReleasesRon Paul on MLK, Jr.’s Legacy of Freedom

ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA — Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul today issued the following statement reflecting on the struggle for civil rights and the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. :

“It is especially fitting that we take the time to reflect on one man’s struggles to defend our Constitutional freedoms during this primary election season.  January 15 was the birthday of the great freedom fighter, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and on Monday, we honor him nationwide for his sacrifice and love of liberty for all people.

“To me, the timing is more than a coincidence.  The American people, regardless of color or creed, have the opportunity to choose a candidate who will uplift the ideals for which Dr. King fought—and died.

“The fight for freedom—the preservation of our civil rights—is the fight of our lives.  Sadly, after Dr. King’s passing we are faced with a violation of our civil rights in the same vein as Jim Crow: The Patriot Act. I have stood against this and all unconstitutional violations of American’s civil rights, and will continue Dr. King’s charge as President.

“Dr. King would be disappointed in our current administration for more than its continued disregard for civil rights, as he stated ‘a nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual doom.’ We need to change our interventionist foreign policy, and take care of our brothers and sisters at home. Our nation is in a crisis: we are spending billions on war overseas while those around us are suffering and losing jobs, homes, and hope. It is inexcusable; we must solve the economic crisis at home and bring hope to America.

“Dr. King’s heroic actions should resonate with us today, as we recognize that our votes strengthen the fight for our civil rights. Liberty is the true antidote to racism, and freedom-- limited, constitutional government devoted to the protection of individual rights—can uplift us all.”

Dr. Ron Paul is a ten-term Texas congressman seeking the Republican nomination for President of the United States.

Does Ron Paul support and address African-American issues all year round or is this the typical political statement? Amazing how most of the politicians come out of the woodwork kissing babies and addressing key issues once every four years.

He supports personal rights regaurdless of color or creed. He has on numerous occasions quoted Dr. King in his speeches in congress. In a truely free societiy race wouldn't matter...personal property and civil freedoms have no race ties.
If one thing about Ron Paul is his views haven't changed through the years he has served on Capital Hill. If it volated the contitution in 1984 it still does today and that is how he has always voted, in the contitutional law not the international laws that dictate economy and have started to be shoved down our throats by the U.N. and other forgein bodies. Dr. King spoke against this and so does Dr.Paul and the to few others that consistantly vote for Constitutional Law over the Maritine Admireal Laws of the world government.
Dr. Kings message wasn't just for the black populace in America but used that obvious infringment on the rights of Americans to speak to us of all of our God given Rights to freedom and freedom from tyranny. Race and sepretisism is a duality that run through out our culture.
In a free society there would people would be veiwed as souverign not part of a clique.

First, all avatars drawn by yours truly, I will do my best to keep them current. (Thanks Channel 2 for the page, still fair and unbiased on the web...lol Ron Paul 2008) I really hate to be the one to shake the foundations of the sheepoles trust in a system that could care less about any of us. But hey, some ones has to do it. I love to hear the comments from those that come across my page, but if you think you have facts to support your view then by all means bring it to my attention. But if you disagree and have no substance or facts to back your view then don't waste my time or your own. If you have no support written or video regardless of the source I will delete your comment. So to all the cats that just don't like what I have to say, or the views I bring up. Tough, because I will use my first amendment right while we still can. It's time for us as a nation to take back our country from the Military industrial complex, Look around. When the Military can take over a middle school in our very own state, (Wyoming Michigan) and wave guns in the faces of our children in the name of an anti-terrorist drill with no authority from the parents or the students, or taser you for drinking a beer on the street in front of your house while talking to your neighbor,It won't be long before they come into your home take your guns and ship you off to one of the many "Slave" Camps that FEMA has set up across this country. You can investigate what I say for yourself or you can be led to the slaughter like the sheep they hope you are.
