RANDOM THOUGHTS ON THE DETROIT LIONS

BREAKING NEWS----SAME OLD LIONS!

I was watching Sunday's Lions/Falcons game with some of the biggest Lions fans that are still around.  The moments leading up to the game were that of excitement, feelings of optimism, and a thinking that the Lions were going to be good this year.  At 1:18pm, we turned the channel to watch Favre and the Jets.... these guys just couldn't take it anymore.  All the life in the room was sucked out not only 20 minutes into the season.

It is impossible to be this bad for this long.  The NFL is not set up for teams to be as terrible has the Lions have been over the past 7+ years... The record speaks for itself, 31-82.  Are you kidding me!

Rod Marinelli and his players can bite back at the media and play this "us against you" thing all they want, but keep in mind that the fans are fed up.. I know that Rod Marinelli has nothing to do with what happened with the lions previous to the year 2006.  But he and his players have to understand what this fan base has been through over the past half century.   It is pathetic!

Stop talking!  Stop telling me about "run fits" and "pad level" and "gap responsiblity" and "angles to the football" and "gotta watch the tape" and "we're gonna fix this thing" and "keep working on fundamentals" and "we're gonna do it til it's done right" and "put it over here" and "move forward" STOP IT ALREADY.

Rod Marinelli says he wants to lead the league in "EFFORT." But you know what tackling is? It's EFFORT.  When your own players say that they didn't show up for the game... who's that supposed to reflect upon?

Aside from Ernie Sims, can anyone name me one player that has gotten better over the last 2+plus seasons under Rod Marinelli... so much for "coaching 'em up."

I'm sick and tired of all the losing, I wish the Lions were as sick and tired of losing as all of their fans.  Because if they don't, their won't be any fans left!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, i wasn't impressed with their undefeated record in exibition. It the real season that counts. I gave up on the lions years and years ago. Only thing I'm going to miss when I move out west is not getting to watch all the red wings games.

Mr. Ermanni this is what the Lions continue to do year after year- whatever is wrong with the opposing team is cured by the Lions for one game. The 2000 game vs the Bears when the week before they had not crossed the 50 yard line the entire game and then come in to play a so called playoff contender on their field and win is what the Lions do. The trip to Oakland on the day of the game a few years ago along with the continued clock mismanagement, 1st round draft choices not playing, keeping 11 d-line players and then only dressing 8 are just a sample of the continued ineptitude of this coach (Marinelli) and franchise. Success on the field is won and not bestowed because of talk. All talk Marinelli and his teacher all talk Millen are in over their heads and the sooner they both move along the dreaded "rebuild" can begin anew with renewed hope that the next guys will get it right.

Ha, Ha, Ha, you lions loyalists kill me. every year you say the same thing like Tom The Killer Kowalski, "lions- 10-6," like I'm some kind of a fool. No, its more like lions 2-14. This organization is the laughing stock of the NFL. When are lions fans going to accept this fact, I don't know. I said in the beginning of the preseason, 6-10. It's not just the tackling, it's the morale. The rookies come here with the right attitude no sooner than they start practice that they are told "you play for the lions, why are you working so work." "You better get that free money."

You people kill me that keep your hopes alive that the Lions will ever amount to anything, what are you, displaced Chicago Cubs fans? I know how >I< would feel if I spent $80+ on a game and everybody showed up but the team! Did anyone actually watch the game today? We're talking about a less than mediocre QB, receivers that grinned when they dropped passes, and Furrey shrug his shoulders when he booted a kickoff reception! Pardon the french but, WHAT THE HELL IS SO FUNNY ABOUT THAT??? You people that keep buying tickets (season or otherwise) will only maintain this debacle. The minute ticket sales drop to a minimal amount, ownership will TAKE ownership and start to fix things. Hey, who knows, maybe Marinelli makes more money with the neighborhood football pool when he knows what the outcome will be? With winnings like that, who needs a salary?

The Detroit Lions????? Who Are They? Oh Yea They Are That mediocre Football Team We Have Here In Detroit That Have NEVER Won a Super Bowl Or Stayed In The Playoffs Long Enough. Who Is The Quarterback We have? What Is His Name?? You Dont need To Say His name Because We Dont Have a Good Quarterback... And Why Is Matt Millin Still In The Organization?? He is Nothing But a Jerk.I Think Rod Marinelli is All Talk and So is His Staff, So What That You Went 4-0 in Preseason that dont Mean CRAP. This Is The Regular Season This Is Where The Wins Count Not All The Losses...The Lions Dont Have NO Offense,No Defense,The Lions will NEVER amount to anything ..That Is Why I am Glad I dont Watch Them Play ..I am and always Will Be A DETROIT RED WINGS FAN No matter what...GO WINGS!!!! I WOULD GO TO A TIGERS OR PISTONS AND OR RED WINGS GAME BEFORE I WASTE MY MONEY ON A LIONS GAME

All Good Points! However as long as the tickets continue to sell and the stadium stays full (who ever the owner is) couldn't care less about how often his team gets put down and talked about. However if the fans stay home and watch the Lions lose on TV and the owner begins having a difficult time paying the players those million dollar salaries then AND ONLY THEN will they build a winning team.

Even if the Lions played in an empty stadium, week after week, the organization will still make a profit. Isn't that how the NFL is set-up? Every team makes a profit, sold out conditions or not.
