Knowing what we know now, what would the differences be?

PART I

The first time Kwame Kilpatrick ran for Mayor back in 2001, his opponent was Gil Hill.

Looking back, if Gil Hill had won that election, would Detroit be -

A) In better shape

B) In worse shape

C) About the same

PART II

In 2005, Freeman Hendrix ran opposite Kwame Kilpatrick for mayor. Looking back, if Freeman Hendrix had won that election, would Detroit be -

A) In better shape

B) In worse shape

C) About the same

What do YOU think?

Are you teaching your children to hate everyone different them?

Way to go tard, we see your keeping America down with stupidity, bigotry and teaching hate...good for u.

PoliSciGirl, I do NOT have any problem with "Black Folks", so put that accusation where the sun don't shine, okay? And as far as what I teach my children, keep your ASSumptions to yourself unless you know something for a fact!

AND, your use of the word "tard" displays your own prejudices. Pot meet kettle.

Now, may we speak civilly?

As I said, I do not have a problem with black people. I do have a problem with a society that condones the demonizing of white people. A hypocritical society that supposedly endorses equality and disdains discrimination...unless the discrimination is against white people.

Do you think black people corner the market when it comes to discrimination? If you do, then you're dead wrong. Yes, as a white man, I have been discriminated against. Not very long ago, I was denied a promotion simply because "we don't have any black women in management", even though my billing far exceeded the black woman's billing. So the promotion wasn't based on merit, it was based on skin color.

Am I angry with this black woman? Absolutely NOT! I am angry at a society that says that type of discrimination is acceptable BECAUSE I am a white man.

I give you another example: after working late one night in our Detroit office, I stopped at a fast food place to pick up a burger. I was the only white person in the place. A black woman made a "cracker" remark at me and all the nice "black folks" roared with laughter, including the restaurant staff. If it was the other way around, Rev Al and his buds would protest and boycott the entire fast food chain...but be

I'll give you another example: after working late one night in our Detroit office, I stopped at a fast food place to pick up a burger. I was the only white person in the place. A black woman made a "cracker" remark at me and all the nice "black folks" roared with laughter, including the restaurant staff. If it was the other way around, Rev Al and his buds would protest and boycott the entire fast food chain...but because it happened to a white guy, well that's ok in today's society.

Do I hate the black people in that place? No...I'm disappointed in them, but I don't hate them. I do hate the fact that our society has allowed them to think that their behavior was acceptable because I'm a white guy.

So, PoliSciGirl...no problem here with black folks, my problem is with a society with an elitist view that blacks are "untouchable" and whites are fair game.

A little advice: next time pay closer attention to my posts instead of jumping to conclusions, ok? That's how mature adults debate, in case you didn't know it.
