OPEN LETTER TO ANY POLITICIAN IN WASHINGTON    DEAR CONGRESSPEOPLE     For the rest of your  lives  you are going to live in a world that depends on oil and other carbon fuels for energy. No matter how you want to dream about alternatives to oil.  Thus we need oil to maintain our standard of living.  This economy of ours needs oil and other carbon fuels to keep going.  We can't  run our factories on batteries and we can't  operate our cars with windmills.  I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the facts are the facts.  Anyone with the brains my  dog could figure that out.  Unfortunately my dog is more dependable and has more common sense than most politicians.   You politicians keep saying that we need to be energy independent. How are we going to be energy independent if we don't have a massive new drilling program here  in the United States?  Even my most crazed liberal friends can't explain why we are not drilling in Alaska.  A place where no one will ever even see.  Statistically, no one will ever even go there and you say we shouldn't drill there. Do you have any idea how stupid you sound to the average American driver as gas heads towards $5 a gallon.  At some point the voters are going to turn against politicians of both parties who haven't had the common sense or intelligence to let this country find more oil here a home. We are so arrogant in this country.  We think the whole rest of the world should "dirty their soil"  with energy exploration but we Americans are above  that.  Only we care about the earth.   There is a gas price at which the voters are going to throw all  politicians over board and start screaming, "drill for oil".
