This week, Huel Perkins was joined by radio personality Mildred Gaddis and attorney Charlie Langton, as well as FOX 2's own Lila Lazarus.

The panel discussed the latest developments in the mayor's sex and text scandal and the brawl between players for the Detroit Shock and L.A. Sparks.  They also commented on whether Detroit's deputy mayor should have received a pay increase for becoming active head of the water department.

Hi Guys,

According to MI Law adultery is illegal in MI, but the statute has not been used since 1971, but is still on the books...

THE MICHIGAN PENAL CODE (EXCERPT)
Act 328 of 1931
Chapter V
ADULTERY

Document Type Description
Section 750.29 Section Adultery; definition.
Section 750.30 Section Adultery; punishment.
Section 750.31 Section Adultery; complaint and time of prosecution.
Section 750.32 Section Adultery; cohabitation of divorced parties.

Adultery in Michigan Punishable by Life in Prison
A ruling by the second highest court in Michigan has indicated that state lawmakers have inadvertently made anyone who commits adultery guilty of 1st-degree criminal sexual conduct which carries a maximum sentence of life in prison.

The law states that any sexual penetration "under circumstances involving the commission of any other felony" is 1st-degree criminal sexual conduct. Adultery is still a felony in Michigan but there have been no convictions under the law since 1971.

The unusual combination of laws was discovered when the state attorney general successfully appealed the decision to drop CSC charges against a married man who was trading drugs for sex with several women.

You`re right. It`s rarely enforced though because the offended spouse has to bring the charges and most people don`t know about the law.
