Why can't McCain e-mail? Boston Globe explained it in 2000 by Ed Morrissey

Barack Obama's campaign released an ad attacking John McCain for not knowing how to send an e-mail.  Their crack research team apparently never heard of Google or Lexis-Nexis, but Jonah Goldberg does.  He discovers why McCain doesn't use a keyboard - his torturers made sure he couldn't.  The Boston Globe reported it eight years ago:

McCain gets emotional at the mention of military families needing food stamps or veterans lacking health care. The outrage comes from inside: McCain's severe war injuries prevent him from combing his hair, typing on a keyboard, or tying his shoes. Marvel at McCain's encyclopedic knowledge of sports. He's an avid fan - Ted Williams is his hero - but he can't raise his arm above his shoulder to throw a baseball.
After Vietnam, McCain had Ann Lawrence, a physical therapist, help him regain flexibility in his leg, which had been frozen in an extended position by a shattered knee. It was the only way he could hope to resume his career as a Navy flier, but Lawrence said the treatment, taken twice a week for six months, was excruciatingly painful.
"He endured it, he wouldn't settle for less," said Lawrence, who rejoiced with McCain when he passed the Navy physical. "I have never seen such toughness and resolve."

Making fun of a war hero's severe injuries - smooth move, Team O.  Talk about computer illiteracy!  Doesn't anyone on the Obama campaign know what they're doing?  Didn't it ever occur to them that a man who can't raise his arms above his head might have a physical barrier to using a computer?
If this is what happens when they takes the gloves off, maybe they should just keep them on in the future.

You know full and well, Jax, that the Obama campaign was not making fun of his war-time injuries and physical inabilities.
Talk about taking it out of context. It isn't the physical inability that they were mentioning. Give me a break man.
Since you want to go that direction, obviously you are coming from the ideal that people as humans should not be attacked on their basic human characteristics, and that is exactly what people are doing to Barak. All of this muslim b.s. is ridiculous and yet conspiracy nuts continue to engage in that argument. Talk about attacking the very core of someones being.
How about getting back to the issues. What a novel idea, huh.

Ok then det.lover , then Obama was making fun of his senility . That is so much better than poking fun at a disability encured while in service of his country right ?
So which way do you want it ?

Not senility, loss of touch with the times by definition. Two seperate things. McCain is wealthy enough to never have to worry about such simple things as email, though.

The way I want it is for both campaigns to stick to what matters to all of us, the issues. Obamas campaign dealt with McCains b.s for a long time before finally fighting fire with fire. All of the 'celebrity' nonsense and misrepresentation, oh excuse me, lies of Obama's tax policies and the like. It is crazy. Absurd justification, I know. I was hoping Barak's campaign would stand strong and not give in, but that is politics. Of course it disappoints me, and it is a shame that Obama's people were so easily manipulated into getting off track and distracting the American people with nonsense from the republicans, who themselves have no policies in place different than those that have crippled this country. And while I firmly believe in the need for democratic control as the only answer (given our choices)I recognize the faults of the democratic party too.
The problem is that most people do not understand true political history and the conservative movement that has plagued our country and has driven greed and respect for the largest demographic, the working middle class, to the ground. Not to mention the basic infrastructure that made this country great has been completely disregarded and replaced with capitalism that is becoming too big and with too many negative consequenses. The republicans and right wing nuts have succeeded in achieving financial security for the elite population.
While I respect you

sorry about that interruption...
While I respect your libertarian views, I myself recognize the two party system for what it is and have decided to side with the team that is in my best interest and the largest population as well. That is the democrats. Call it the lesser of two evils, I still make that choice above a service oriented, rich and poor only demographic.

McCain is old,and his admirable and appreciated service to this country is not enough to justify the continuity of failed policies of the last 20yrs, but specifically the last 8, and Palin is way out of her league, IMO.

You know full well Det.lover that Obama's camp was referring to McCain being so out of touch that he doesn't have the modern savvy of being computer literate. Which is along the same theme as picking at his age. I only pointed out that there is a world of difference between reality and what political mudslinging tries to portray. The subject of his war injuries being the reason he doesn't use computers only drives the point home.

Take a look at how I titled the post. Time to End this Type of Campaigning. I didn't pick which party because they are both guilty.

I've lived in and around Detroit most of my life. For many years I worked in steel trades that were involved in automobile manufacture. I changed careers at 35 and received a degree in Electronics Engineering which evolved into broadcast engineering. Do to a stoke and spinal problems I am now disabled and am working at becoming the worlds slowest typist. My mind is still clear though and as I've read I've noticed many of yours are as well.
