Received this from someone who was in Afghanistan when Obama blew in.  

Hi all   FYI--for what freedom is  worth.

Tiffany and Jeff Porter are our friends who  live in Virginia.

I don't know each of your personal political  convictions, and apologize if
anyone finds this offensive.  I  thought it was important enough to share.
This is Jeff's  first hand view of Senator Obama.

Hello everyone,
As you know I am not a very  political person. I just wanted to pass along
that Senator Obama  came to Bagram Afghanistan for about an hour on his
visit to
'The  War Zone'. I wanted to share with you what happened.
He got off the plane and got  into a bullet proof vehicle, got to the area
to
meet with the  Major General (2 Star) who is the commander here at Bagram.

As the Soldiers where lined  up to shake his hand he blew them off and
didn't
say a word as he  went into the conference room to meet the General. As he
finished,  the vehicles took him to the ClamShell (pretty much a big top
tent
that military personnel can play basketball or work out in with  weights)
so he
could take his publicity pictures playing  basketball. He again shunned the
opportunity to talk to Soldiers  to thank them for their service

So rea lly he was just here to make a showing for  the American's back home
that he is their candidate for President.  I think that if you are going to
make
an effort to come all the  way over here you would thank those that are
providing the freedom  that they are providing for you.

I swear we got more thanks from the NBA  Basketball Players or the Dallas
Cowboy Cheer leaders than from  one of the Senators, who wants to be the
President of the United  States. I just don't understand how anyone would
want him to
be  our Commander-and-Chief. It was almost that he was scared to be  around
those that provide the freedom for him and our great  country.

If this is blunt and to the point I am sorry but I wanted you all  to know
what kind of caliber of person he really is. What you see  in the news is
all fake.

Your post is now from LA to FL and in Chicago, Kansas, Mo, and a few inbetween. I hope it gets the message out. My daughter talked to a woman whose son is in Iraq. The woman was upset because of the bad press and the U.S. thinking the people over there want us out when in reality most of them want us there and are helping the military. There is a working relationship growing with the people of Iraq and the U.S..

Dear Don,

Truly, I appreciate your onsight depictions of Sen. Obama. There are so many of us here that admire his ideas and want a "change" here with foreclosures, business losses, etc. abounding nationwide. I am saddened to know by your recanting. Sen. Obama didn't seem genuine to you but some of us have much faith and hopeful promise in him and I am sorry that he fell short of being personal to you and yours.
As many of us don't want to see more of the same measures enacted(not with you soldiers)today but all kind of laws such as in health care, employer safety measures, environmental depletions of lands, bankruptcy laws, stem cell research, job security, etc. and the list goes on and on... It truly disheartens me to know that Sen. Obama denied himself as a good leader being dismissive to you and your in command. He shouldn't have compromised himself at an expense of you and troops. There may have been reasons clandestine.
You may or may not have heard some of my songs played at Christmas/Holiday time over soldiersradio.com and I have new music that I have wrote in pencil on manuscript paper that you might hear again but this doesn't matter as I try to write songs for the troops concerning Christmas. This is my way of giving to you in the armed forces as I am good at it...and this what I try to do. Yes, I can jam on the piano...OK?

I find this odd because here in Missouri on fox new thay said Obama COULD NOT stop to meet the soldiers..

They said had to hurry back to the states I not remember why..

But I still say I rather have Obama than another 4 years of WAR and INVADING another country like Iran..

Because if you vote for McCain you will see nothing but war for the next 10 or more years..
Not to mention he will see to it that his rich friends will keep getting rich..

It is time for a change and getting someone who is young and healthy and cares more about his country than making friends rich off war is my idea of a true American president..

First, Jeff Porter is in the Utah ANG, not a Marine. There is NO rank of Battle Captain. We would not call anything a "bullet proof" vehicle. It would be a MRAP, up armored HummVee, or Bradley. He did meet with soldiers in Afghanistan, there are photos all over the net to prove it. A Marine does not call his fellow Marines "soldiers". They are Marines!
The base commander in a forward base is NEVER a Major General, Lt. Colonel or Bird Colonel tops.
He violated SOP by signing his name to a political statement. We are not allowed to make statements such as this, even anonomously or to our families. When I first saw this piece of BOOGEDY I thought it may just be true. I hang my head in shame to even being a tiny bit assocsiated with this supposed "Battle Captain". He more than likely is a supply captain if that.
If you have problems with what I am saying, tough BOOGEDY! Check out snopes.com if you dare for the true story.

I have read some of your blogs and you are what they call a Obama Basher..

It shows you support the epublicans and as American that is your right..

But please get the facts strait don't belive everything you read or get in emails..

I am slow and not ashamed of it but I am smart anof not to belive anything unless hear it from the mouth of the one saying it..

You need to watch the news and hear from McCain and Obama them selfs what they say from there own mouths..

Then you should blog about it and say how you feel...

But don't put untruth stuff in your blogs do your homework..

I do not like or care for obama eather but will vote for him before vote another 4 years of Republican and one who has said many times he like to go to war with Iran...

American can not aford that or to let more companys go overseas..Obama will stop companys from going over seas and keep the jobs here in our country..

Obama will do what ever to not go to war with Iran and do what ever to try and get our troops home from iraq..

Obama is young and very healthy McCain is old and not healthy he has had cancer many times and probly will agin..

Obama is not war hungry McCain is Obama wants to get people off food Stamps and other goverment help and get jobs..McCain does not care for he has realy not said anything about that..

I go on but you can watch the news and read on news web site to see who is for what...

There's a position of Battle Captain. They work in the TOC. There is a Major Genenal in Bagram and there is a bullet proof suburans that VIP's drive around in. They won't drive in MRAPS. The person that mentioned Marines is Don Herpen. Only thing true that you friend said was the part of putting his name to it and making it a statement, but everything else is correct. An example when I did memorandums is would be like this:

My rank, my name
My title
What FOB or TF

I didn't serve in the Air Force, I'm retired Army.

I didn't even bother replying to harp, Bye-bye MI. He either backing Obama or attempting to slam me, neither of which I care about. I stated that I should have cleaned up the email before I sent it. I'm not certain who Don Herpen is but it doesn't matter. He was not the author. I was also army many years ago. Jeff and Tiff are quite real. I don't remember who said it in these blogs but it was said that when you question one soldiers service for our country you question us all.

Maybe I should have pulled a myfoxdetoit's move used by a few of the bloggers and deleted him because he disagreed and questioned me. sorry my skin is a little thicker then that.

I've lived in and around Detroit most of my life. For many years I worked in steel trades that were involved in automobile manufacture. I changed careers at 35 and received a degree in Electronics Engineering which evolved into broadcast engineering. Do to a stoke and spinal problems I am now disabled and am working at becoming the worlds slowest typist. My mind is still clear though and as I've read I've noticed many of yours are as well.
