Its like asking where would you be today if your past relatives had not moved here from whereever! You may have ended up in Africa yourself!

But slaves didn't MOVE here they were captured(by who?) and forced to come here. If you want to turn the tables and consider evey possiblity then it will cloud the issue.

The reason SLAVERY will never be let go is because it is a reason for people to say that's why we are so disadvantaged. Slaves were owned by people to get work done and in fact that is a position taken by some, ie: slaves allowed the white man to reach the level of success he has, and for that reason they deserve repairations because without slaves it wouldn't have happened.
Do you think any employee you have would get anything done if you tortured them whenever he wasn't working? Why do people think that slaves were so poorly treated? I'm sure some were treated bad but if there was anything productive expected out of them they were fed and taken care of rather well.
But if nobody was stollen from Africa and forced to come here where would they be?

These are not my words but I've heard it said, "Slavery is the best thing that ever happened to black people"

And I have to ask where else in the world do people, all people, have it better than they do in the US?

If a white person moved here from Africa... would he be called an African American? Now that's a good question.

Colt if you have really studied you would know that the slaves were chained below deck and not allow on deck. You would know that half of the slaves being dead durring the voyage was considered a good sail. I know that if the whites never set foot here I would be better off.

On another note,

Contrary to what people are led to believe, most slaves were taken by Whites that just hopped off a boat and went hunting for them.

Most if not all were slaves taken prisoner by their enemies in Africa. What better way to get rid of your competition, than to ship them off half a world away.

I am aware of the horible things that happend to a lot of slaves, no one can reasonably deny that. Has anyone heard of a case where the slaves were welcomed in as part of the family and treated as such? I don't know for sure but I would bet money that that happened alot more than anyone is willing to admit. Of course this kind of situation is most likely forgoten.
Generally in life the people who do things the right way often go unnoticed, the small percentage of people who cause the problems get the most attention. The same way that our country is slandered all over the world inspite of the millions of dollors we through at them every year. I'm wondering if this applies to the treatment of slaves.

I'm not here to give my opinion on this matter but rather to get yours. VMHolly has made comments that lead you to believe he would be better off anywhere in the world than here in the evil US. It's too bad, I think he is mastaken. Slavery is common place in Afirca and many other parts of the world and nobody seems to care.?
