more gas rip offs i have noticed! now gas stations are charging for the use of a debit or credit card to cover their cost so if you use  one of those you pay more. the station across from me charges 3.88 a gal too use debit or credit and 3.77 is you buy one of their car washes with it at a cost of 5.00 or more. there car wash is one of those mini deals that take 2-3 mins and really doesn't do a good job. how many car washes are necessary. I have never carried cash around, i always used my debit/credit everywhere. now i have to keep some cash on hand just for gas. whats next are we going to pay for credit services at resturants, retail etc. maybe we are and don't know it. what going to happen next? I'M TIRED OF THIS AND GETTING POORER EVERYDAY!!!

While I agree with you that it is BS that we have to pay $4.00 for a gallon of gas (when premium should not be over a dollar a gallon) I understand why they charge more for electronic transactions.

You have to figure that they are paying 3.5% to 5.5% per transaction PLUS a transaction fee (depending on card) of $0.25 to $1.50, PLUS those card swipers range in price from $250.00 to $500.00, and if your card is wore out and they have to manually type in your numbers there is an addtional $4.50 charge, ALL of this adds up to BIG BUCKS, and they are trying to cover their cost.

So if you buy $20.00 worth of fuel and put it on your card, the fees could reach as high as $7.10!

When you use cash for any purchase under $2000.00 you help ALL americans save money by help retailers to lower their operating cost and lowering prices.

Credit cards are meant for MAJOR purchases when cash just won't cover it, cash is king because it cost SO MUCH LESS.

I work in retail and I can tell you first hand that when a customer wants to purchase a $0.69 item and pay with their card I and almost ANY retailer will not accept it. I am suprised that people are really willing to go bankrupt and pay 25% interest (plus late fees) over $0.69 when they probably could scrape that much or more from the cracks of their car seats. A $0.69 item that cost the retailer $0.45 and has the ugly potential to cost the retailer $6.04 in fees, which means he loses $6.49! to make a $0.69 sale.

It drives up cost, lowers profits, lowers the number of sales and wages and cost jobs.

Credit cards cost you m

Part 2:

Credit cards cost you more and they cost the guy in line behind you (who is willing to pay cash) more.

I agree with you about the poor car wash, they don't even take simple dirt off. :)

Being in retail i have seen people coming to use their credit card for under a 1.00, which i thought was dumb. i don't have a credit card but i do use debit card as credit.Like the meijers idea out now -save 10cents on a gallon of gas if you use your meijer credit card. get real- but pay over 20% on interest on the purchase
