I have learned today that the dr you see for your injury is not responsible for other ills you may have that are irrataited by the medications he gives you. so my dr has been pumping me full of pills( which I have fought him on) and they have cause me megga problems with my stomach and breathing. I have been to 2 drs and emergency room for these issues (lacking insurance) and have had to scrap money together to get cobra which my company (oops) didn't send me info on in the 45 day limit. he has been nice though and written me or given samples to ease problem but i think now the problem is to the point further testing is going to be needed at my dollar. There job is to help or correct the injury only. Screw what happens to everthing else pertaining to your body. Our government systems are all messed up. I just read that blog about that little girl, Diann. these things shouldn't be happening to anyone.

I can believe that. Workers Comp is supposed to get you back to work. That is their goal. They don't want to be spending money on people who pay into it. It's sad but true. If you don't mind my asking what type of injury? how long have you been out? what is your prognosis? If you would rather not discuss it I will totally understand. Please keep us posted though!

My husband was injured at work. One of the big 3. The workers comp laws in this state protect the company more than the employee. His injury was so severe that he was declared totally and permanently disabled. so, yes he got social security and his pension but he had 8 more years to put in for his 30 yr. retirement. He made six figures a year. His comp settlement was less than the buyouts offered to workers with 10 yrs. or less. So much was deducted that he hardly has anything left. The system needs to be changed to help the injured. GOOD LUCK TO YOU AND I HOPE YOU RECOVER.

I had a back and neck injury and have been in and out of work since aug 2006 then permentally since oct 2007. i really don't blame the dr he is doing what the law requires and has helped me a little but with all the drugs, blood work should be done also to check other things that these meds can cause problems. I don't believe i should have to pay for this.the other dr i see is a chiropractor and he has done alot for me. he isn't like normal chiropractors.I don't ever think i will ever be 100% again but at least I am better than a month ago.

DISABLED I FEEL FOR YOU , IF I GOT IT RIGHT YOU HAVE COMPLICATIONS FROM MEDS FROM A WORK RELATED INJURY , IF TRUE THAT'S REALLY UNFAIR , MY FRIEND HAD A BAD BACK FOR YEARS AND USED TO SEE A CHIROPRACTOR ,WHEN IT GOT WORSE HE WENT TO A DOC THAT SPECIALIZES IN NEUROLOGY , HIS NEW DOC SAYS CHIROPRACTORS ARE NOT REALLY GOOD ,YOU FEEL BETTER FOR NOW AND ITS BAD SOON AFTER ,I'VE HEARD THAT FROM OTHERS TO , ANY ONE ELSE HEAR THAT ??? ,I JUST DON'T WANT YOU TO GET WORSE IF IT IS TRUE , BUT IF ITS ON YOUR DIME SPECIALISTS WOULD BE PRICY INNLESS COMP CAN PICK IT UP

disabled, yes, we had a lawyer but you can only get what the company is willing to pay. It doesn`t matter that my husband will lose hundreds of thousands of $$ he would have earned. Comp is capped and you must pay back some money that you have already gotten. They drag it on in court until you are so broke you must accept their offer. If comp is covering your drs. and wages then you are doing the best you can. Some chiropractors can help. Find one that practices kinesiology. They work with the muscles. Best wishes.

I know someone who has had a lawyer for a couple of years now. From my understanding if my friend ever does win anything it will all be eaten up in attorney's fees and medical bills. He will never be able to work again either, atleast at the occupation he used to have. The whole work comp system sucks!

mimi, yes this chiro works with the muscles and has his own kind of physical therepy and his goal is to staighten my spine and neck but to increase strength in the core area which does seem to work.i'll ask him about the kinesiology you mentioned. thank you everyone!

I was injured at one of the Big 3, 3 yrs ago, broken back and 7 broken ribs. A Lawyer friend of mine told me it was a waste of time to even try to sue them, he was right. I was declared totally disabled by SS on 1-1-07. In March 07, their Med Ins Co tried to put me back to work, their Dr said I was fine. The Gov and FMC retired me. I got lucky. The Work. Comp Law in MI is screwed up. Engler changed it in his klast yr to protect the Co.'s, not the workers. Good Luck.

My last employer made it regular practice to try and convince injured employees to not declare a work related injury, but to see dr and put it on your insurance.
I was THREATENED with drug testing when I hurt my back during the course of my job. He has more coin to pay lawyers so I just went to the doc.
My PREVIOUS (I quit using him due to his practice of giving service to those with EXCELLENT insurance, will see you with cheap insurance and dumps you on a student if you DON'T have insurance.) doctor sent me to a physical therapy STORE without any Xrays and the most topical of examinations by his STUDENT!
They did nothing to put the vertebrae back in the correct position, instead gave me a list of strength training focused on the injured area.

I went to my chiropractor and he took one Xray, studied it, showed me where the missalignment was and manipulated the muscles to let said vertebrae fall back into place. On subsequent follow up visit, he said there was no problem requiring more follow up visits, that the adjustment was holding fine.

All of this was on MY dime, not comps. As I said before I was THREATENED by employer.
Treated like an undesireable by my doctor (who gave EXCELLENT service when I had Blue Care Network insurance) and told to strengthen muscles surrounding a missaligned spine by Physical therapist.

Said therapist also used "ultrasound therapy" on first visit (whick helped relax the muscles affected), but denied such procedures when I informed them I had seen a chiropractor.
They said "Oh my, that's not good" and denied me the only actual soot

denied me the only soothing and relaxing treatment method when I acted contrary to their ORDERS.
Yeah, ORDERED to keep paying physical therapy cost without results or even a reasonable bedside manner after informing them of what worked.
