This should of nevered happened to him. the story was on fox 2 this morning and on the web site.He now owes 72,000$. Thats after going to emergency rooms before about the same issue. I had a breathing problem, my work comp dr said it was probably acid reflux asthma. i was nervous about that so i made a appointment with my dr. they said they would give me a discount. because of shortness of breath and a not so good ekg i was given the choice of going to a cardio dr or the emergency room. i was crying not because i might have a heart problem but because i knew the expense and that oakwood would do little for me due to no insurance and send me home and the expense of a cardio dr scared me. i chose the cardio dr and his ekg and exam turn out ok but did make recomendations. my dr charged me 117.00 which i have to make payments. the cardio was going to set up payments but he only charged me 55.00. I got lucky on that dr and told them how grateful i was. Then i started looking up all the side effects of the meds my work comp dr is giving me and oh boy, no wonder i having problems which will be discussed with him.

This gentleman should get help from the hospitals, they can put alot of this to  the charity account they have but he will have to apply to medicaid first and this takes about 6months to get and answer. There is help out there but these hospital don't tell anyone about it.

Disabled, I hope you are well soon. Yes, there is a lot of help out there. A huge problem hospitals have is the treating illegals. It is bankrupting hospitals and our health care system in border states, and is sweeping the country. Many hospitals and Drs. are willing and able to help, . We need to help our own and stop treating everyone who steps across our borders demanding our services.

I agree with you 200% but how do we accomplish that? I email a couple senators in this area about health care and one shove me off on another and the other never replied to me. love our government!!

How true cat . I saw something yesterday , where in Texas alone , it could go over a billion dollars this year for treating illegals .
This is just in medical , and doesn't mention the effect of them collection wefare , food stamps ect .
No-one in their right mind can think that the only reason they are comming here illegaly to work , and become productive members of our society . They are comming here , because they get more hand-outs from us , than they can working in the countries they come from .
With an stimated 20,000,000 + Illegals here , they are sucking the system we payed for dry .
Now add all of the court cost and legal fees for the ones that are caught commiting crimes , and you'll comeup with a figure that makes the war on terror look cheap .

When I worked EMS I dreaded working areas like Dearborn and South Detroit. The patients couldn't speak english, but ask them for identification or insurance and they had an accordion billfold FULL of every government card, medicare, medicaid, aid to this, aid to that. I would have to call the hospital enroute and ask for an interpreter to be waiting. Sometimes at the hospital my partner and I would be delayed to other emergency calls because no one at the hospital spoke spanish, or knew sign language, which I do. So I had to interpret for the hospital staff. All of these patients were covered by the government, or never paid at all. This is why the DMC has been bankrupt for 15 years.
