The funds that are being set up for Kilpatrick and Beatty are disgusting. Any monies obtain from these funds need to go to the hungry and to the schools that need school supplies so they can learn. The two of them have wasted so much of the taxpayers money, let them pay for the lawyers themselves.

Heres a thought, I am on work comp and have no insurance and was turned down by the state for medicaid, (I'm in the 50yr old category where there is a freeze by the goverment for us old folk) How about we set up a fund for people like me and many others who need health insurance and can't afford it. Or we can just use Kilpatricks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Totally digusted with our government

I'm disabled and in the 50's catagory and know nothing of the freeze you speak of. As for that defense fund I give it the attention it deserves. Zip

When I applied for medicaid I was told by them that our gov has put a freeze on medicaid for the 50 and older group.there can be some rare exceptions though. I guess I was one of them.
thank you for your comment.

This is the first I've heard of that freeze but then again I have been getting a little bit of help from Medicaid of quite some time. You can thank that socialist governor for the cutback. She loves to hit the poor, the old and disabled. You can fight it with a court date. I have in the past. you get 90 days from the time you were made aware of the ruling. Good luck

Dear Disabled. I certainly agree that something needs to be done for people who contributed to the economy for years. And, who because of failing health need assistance. The only insurance co. in the industry who are mandated to insure seriously ill folk with "pre-existing conditions" is Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. In order to have hospital and testing fees covered; and if your Cobra has expired, you pay $600.00 per month. This only pays half of doctor visits, no RX, no dental and no optical. They are asking the legislature to allow them to increase rates 20%. If you have a chronic illness that requires maintenance you have no choices. HAP will insure you if you go 6 months without treatment of the pre-existing condition. Please. If you were that well you would not be disabled! This is a crime. Medicaid and Social Security Disability are one horrible nightmare. God help us. People are dying because they can't afford health insurance.

I'm also diabled, disabled, and I just want to say I agree with you and share your feelings about mrs granholm, who Time Mag gave the distinction of being one of the worst governors in the Country.

Jax your wrong Medicaid is federal. Governor Garnholm has no control over it.

If you have a Medicare card, BC and BS have a program that covers most everything for 229 a month. It's called Medicare plus Blue.

Tallmanok2 that is true if you have Medicaire. If you are fighting for SS Disability you aren't entitled to Medicaire. If you are approved, I'm told there is a 2 year wait for medicare. Unless of course you are a senior.

Tallmanok2 I forgot to say thanks for the information. If and when I am approved for Social Security Disability I will certainly use the information you provided. This $1,200. premium I send bi-monthly to bsbsm is killing me.

Tall,Medicare is federal. Medicaid is completely state run and two entirely different entities. I know because I have both. Matter of fact, Medicare considers me lower income because I have to draw SSD and a I have a small pension therefore I get a few emenities like no donut hole on scripts in the Medicare part D, but because of my pension the state's Medicaid program said because of my pension I am upper income and was put on a $1500/ month spendown which means I need to cover $1500 of my medical bills monthly. That is an impossible amount unless I give up eating and live under a bridge.

Jax I hear that they did that to me when I had to have half my lung pulled out. the bills came in for a few months. If they came as one big bill medicade would have paid that. I was approved for anything over 1700 which is the same as really getting nothing. I wasn't losing the house for there help.

this is really sad that the people that really need help can't get it or very little.oakwood hospital is suppose to come out with something in september for low income and for out patient only and i guess you have to be on medicaid. I didn't quite understand the program she was talking about , i was dealing with other things pertaining to oakwood. if you want call 734-362-6713 and ask for sue for her to explain better.

See how sad this conversation is???? $2 billion/month in Iraq and U.S. citizens who have fought for this country, worked in this country can't even retire. It makes me sick on my stomach...while these political fat cats are drawing everlasting pension and benefits paid for by 'yours truly', we are left stuck trying to FIGURE OUT how we're going to live. I was shocked to the point of losing my water when I found out that my dad - after working 35 years at Ford, his pension is taxed, his social security is taxed, his IRA is taxed and any tax refund he might receive is taxed!!! Please explain to me (seriously) BLEEP do we need a government for? What (next to name recognition - repub/dem/lib/cons) seriously are we voting for??? Next to contributing to the everlasting benefits of these politicians who screw us at every turn....and brainwashing citizens into believing we'd be under attack and couldn't survive without them....what is their purpose???

OUR GOVERMENT is to worried about other countries while we suffer.I think that is why people run for a government positions because they know everything they can get away with along with all the perks that go with it.
