Detroit Tigers fans have proved their loyalty over the years. The Old English D could stand for devoted. After more than a decade of essentially being the worst team in baseball, the team bounced back this year to make it all the way to the World Series. What a sweet treat for the fans who stayed with the team through the lean years. A well deserved reward for their loyalty.

It's a shame you can't say the same thing about the corporation whose name is on the gate of the ball park where the boys of summer play. Comerica Inc. is leaving the region that helped turn the company into one of the most powerful banks in the world. Today the company announced it will soon set up its headquarters in Dallas, Texas. They say it brings them closer to their customer base. So much for Loyalty.

The Detroit Tigers represent the people of Detroit. The company that holds the title sponsorship to their playing venue clearly does not. It has a deal with the Tigers through 2030 at a price of 2.2 million per year, but maybe it's time for the team to re-negotiate.

Should Comerica park get re-named? I for one say YES! America's Pastime is about being loyal to the home team, not some corporation who cares only about profit.

It is unfortunate that Comerica has decided to move it's headquarters. Hopefully the Tigers will be able to remove Comerica's name from the stadium. The Tigers, and the city of Detroit deserve better, and the name of the stadium should truly represent the city of Detroit.

Having worked for Comerica for 12 years(resigned in 2002), I find it hard to believe but not shocked that Comerica is leaving. They used to be (or so I thought) a loyal business in Detroit. After all, they've been a Michigan based bank for over 150 years. I truly believe that now that they have decided to bail on us, we should bail on them being the name of OUR BALL PARK. I think the citizens of Detroit/Michigan should have a say in the name of OUR BALL PARK!! Not a company that is bailing on our state when we need it to stay.

Wow, what a great idea. Let’s get Comerica to move the rest of the jobs they have in Michigan outside the state. Detroit doesn’t need the revenue in city income taxes or the millions Comerica pours into local United Way charities. Governor Granholm complained that the people of Michigan should patronize Michigan businesses but the State never banked with Comerica, which was coincidently, Michigan’s last major bank. The state of Michigan and the city of Detroit deserve the government they elect. Wake up Michigan. We need a governator.

Just so the bloggers know where Fox2 is headquartered. What?? Not Detroit. What a joke. Maybe it should be Fox2 Adelaide.

News Corporation (abbreviated to News Corp) (NYSE: NWS, NYSE: NWSa, ASX: NWS, LSE: NCRA) is one of the world's largest media conglomerates. Its chief executive officer is Rupert Murdoch. News Corporation is a public company listed on the New York Stock Exchange and the Australian Stock Exchange and as a secondary listing on the London Stock Exchange. Formerly incorporated in Adelaide, Australia, the company was re-incorporated in the United States state of Delaware after a majority of shareholders approved the move on November 12, 2004. News Corporation's headquarters is at 1211 Avenue of the Americas (Sixth Ave), in New York City, in the newer 1960s-1970s corridor of the Rockefeller Center complex.

Sure they pay 2 million a year to have their name on the stadium but I say tell them to shove their money . These Big Boys and Girls that run the company could care less about Detroit, The Tigers or the people of the City of Detroit unless it has to do with putting more money in their pockets. I was mad as hell when it wasn't named Tiger Stadium in the 1st place. So I say good riddens Fat Cats because Michigan doesn't need you. Also I wish people would quit blaming Gov. Granholm for all our problems. Have we forgot about good ole Engler and Spence? When they left office Michigan was damaged badly in many ways but it took a little time for that damage to show up and it is stilltaking its toll. Anyway Go Tigers and God Bless Michigan!

2.2 million per year till 2030.....that's 52.8 million on second thought lets make them keep that name, because that isn't chump change, and they owe us something.

Sorry billinflint , But Granholm is to blame . All the prejects that got finished in Detroit were put thru under Engler . Under Granholm , on the other hand , we have scrubed all those hotels that were coming , two casinos got scrubed , and metro airport is still in a holding pattern . Dah .

If we get rid of the Comerica Park name that just gives them money to invest in their new community. They are going to Texas ......after the Oil Money. I say lets keep them paying here and stop banking with them instead. Banks worship the Buck lets enjoy theirs instead.

Rename it!!! Also I remember when my grandfather was alive he only banked with Comerica he would be turning in his grave now if he knew they were leaving, I say take your money out now and see how far they can get without the support of Michigan, we have many other banks that actually don't charge you for a checking account anyway, I pulled my money out of comerica years ago and have not had one moment of unhappiness about it, They are going to Texas becuase Texas is flourishing now as with almost every other state, Texas is one state that has more job oppurtunities than any other state, they are not stupid, they are following the money all right the money that you and I make because everyones leaving and going South.....God Bless

I think that it is very funny that everyone says that Comerica is "leaving" Michigan. Comerica employs ober 7500 people in this state, so for people (shockhazard) to say "Go Comerica, and take the name with you" is very stupid. Michigan has lost over 330,000 jobs in the last 3-4 years, so why would you want another 7500 to leave. Also, only 200 jobs will be affected by this move, mostly the higher paid executives, so as far as the economy goes, the effects will be minimal. After reading the statement from Comerica, they will still continue to add value to the city by the continuation of their philanthrophy, giving to charitable organizations, etc. Now, as far as the Comerica Park name, why not keep the name, 60 million is a lot of money, that will probably help the organization over the next 24 years. Just because they are relocationg their headquarters, does not mean that they don't care about the state. It seems as if they are still going to be the largest bank in Michigan. They have 345 branches here, 5 corporate offices spread around the state. Overall, I think that people are just looking at this as them just leaving the state, without being educated on the situation as a whole. Maybe think about doing a bit of research on a subject before turning on a company that has done nothing but show support toward both the community, city and the state.

if i help put something together with my money, just because I wanted to move where the taxes may be better, I don't think they should take my name off something.

xxxxxx , I remember some of those same things mentioned when Strohs was moving out . How all of those disributers , truck drivers , dock workers ect. would still be working . Worked out real good didn't it ? Within 5 years there'll be no Comerica banks .They will sell out to a company that will consolidate since nobody by that time will have any money to put in a bank .
