Once again, Valentines day is near and most of us are scrambling for special things to get our loved ones to show how much we care..
I'm a cheap date, so hubby helping with the food shopping this past weekend sure gave him some points so far :) Not that I don't want anything... a card and some tlc is always nice..
But! Does anyone have a Valentines wish list this year? Even single people can write in a list..
Happy New Year !

Inspired by Daniel's recent topic, I don't think this was ever done here,
What if anything, does your screen name for FOX5 mean? What made you pick it?
Mines is easy, I consider myself to be a city person, and the #'s are in my life. Boring eh? lol

I fell again. I had to add AGAIN in there, because it seems the older I get, the more clumsy I get ! I had 4 falls this year so far, and the year isnt over !
Once coming out of church. That time was bad because I tried to break my fall and ended up hurting my wrists, broke my watch and all. One of our priests took me and my kids into their home and patched me up. That was nice, to be able to see where they live, eat, etc.
Then after that I tripped going down some stairs, then coming up stairs. Not both the same day though... :) Oh wait and fell coming out of my car on my way to church this sunday, that time I fell on the grass, just my ankle was sore.
Monday morning was a doooozy. The phone rings when I am taking a shower, soapy hair and all, I walk to get the phone. Swoosh, there I go and fall on my right hip, hit my head on the wall! I had to yell out to the kids to wake up and get the phone. Now I have a HUGE purple bruise on the side of my bum, oh yeah and my head was hurting.
I guess if you are still reading this junk, my question is : when you fall, or trip in public, do you feel embarassed, or if you are perfect, and never fall, when you see someone fall down, do you stop to laugh? Or run like I do, and try to help out, since I know what its like to fall down all the time.. oh and no one has a chance to laugh at me much, since I am the first to laugh at myself :)

My 6th grader has to do a Rube Goldberg project, its a complex machine to do a simple task....
http://www.rube-goldberg.com/
thing is I need some ideas, so far we are thinking about a machine to ring a bell, I saved paper towel rolls and Im hitting the hardware store to gather some stuff. I think its a way too hard thing for a 6th grader.. but hey some 6 graders do way more complicated things !
Any ideas at all are GREATLY appreciated !
(I'll even bake you guys some cupcakes, if we ever get our get together going,,see how desperate i am !! )

I had an amazing trip. We left on the 12th of July headed to Kansas. Kids have things to keep them busy, I have plenty of snacks on hand. I had no idea how great our country really is.
We made it to Kansas, to Arkansas and back to NYC in one week and a day.
We past so many hills, valleys, mountains and farms. All breathtaking. I wondered if the people who are fortunate to live all the nice places I saw really appreciated the beauty there? The fresh air kept me awake the entire time. My husband drove, and my 10 yr old commented many times on all the corn she saw, that was many many times, lol.
Entering Arkansas, we stopped for gas and when hubby got out the car he was comical as he swat away countless bugs chasing him. There were people in the next gas stall, puzzled, looking at him, I guess the bugs dont "bug" em. lol
Me the NYer I am freaked out BIG time as wen entered Arkansas when it was pitch black and we were the only ones on the road, one with many mountains, swarms of bugs. I just couldnt take it not being able to see the road ahead, the darkness numbed me with fear. We spent that night in a hotel. ( thank you hubby I LOVE YOU )
I can truly say after this trip, never have I ever felt so close to god as I was at this time.
Hot Springs Arkansas was amazing, the hot water made my skin baby soft, I put some on my face hoping it had youthful benifits, lol.
We encountered time after time countless pure good people. We met up in Illinois with my sis on law, and when her car broke down, the nicest couple stopped to help out, after the problem was solved, they would not take the money we offered them. They asked that we just get to our destination safely. Our skin had no color, our voice's had no label. People smiled and said hello everywhere we went. This took some time to get used to, ok, not long..lol. But such an exquisite feeling. Good hearted Americans.
I know I left out dozens of things, but I have to unpack !

I was just thinking the other day, what defines a gift to most women? I talked with a female aquaintance about this subject, time and time again since before Christmas.
I feel a gift is something personal, something with thought, something where I know he took the time to think about me a few minutes before the purchase. Now... to me things that are household appliances, furniture, etc. are not gifts to me. They are things he would have had to buy reguardless of me..no? We need a sofa to sit on, a washer to wash clothes..you know?
Don't get me wrong now, im no ungrateful material person. On my list of best gifts I have gotten over my 17 year relationship is a tiny furry fake kitty that sits in a wicker basket. To me, it was special. When I got it, he told me oh I was passing by a store today and saw something that made me think of you. Things of that sort warm my heart. I have this debate often with other women. Some made requests of cash for presents, one a new livingroom set.
Last year for Valentines I got a really nice couples basket with all kinds of goodies inside. All I wish for this year, is time together, maybe some truffles, and a card is always nice too :)
