Somebody needs to speak the truth! Somebody needs to tell Kwame what he REALLY did wrong! Somebody needs to confront this black man with the truth about why WE, as black people are so DAMN angry with him!

It's not that he lied (What politician hasn't?)

It's not the wasted tax payer dollars that went to cover his lying butt ( Millions of dollars get wasted everyday in Detroit as evidenced by the poor condition of the public school system despite getting millions from the state lottery and casinos)

It's not that he cheated on his wife ( it's disrespectful, but certainly nothing new)

It's not even the Embarrassing text messages, Strippers (dead or alive), the rumored parties, sexual trysts, or infamous Red Navigator.  Most of these issues have been or will be settled in a court of law.

Then what is it?

Why are we sooooo ANGRY with Kwame????

We are Angry with Kwame because he chose sides! He chose the wrong side!

A fact that is widely known yet rarely discussed is the fact that blacks are divided! We are divided into 2 groups. One group , working hard to abolish old stereotypes of black people who are depicted as  trifling, untrustworthy, neglectful, lazy and criminal.
The other side, whether unknowingly or not, living out that stereotypical view by being involved in criminal activities, thugging, drugging, stealing and abandoning and neglecting our children. Chris Rock said it best! "There are Black people and then...there are Ni****s!" Truth be told....black people....real black people....want nothing more to do with "Ni****s' than whites do.

Kwame chose sides! He was elected to the highest office in Detroit Michigan and exploited it! He embarrassed us "Real" black people! He embarrassed us black people who understand and STILL remember that a price..a precious price was paid in order for him, a black man, to even hold such a position in politics. He embarrassed us black folks who don't want to be seen as trifling...untrustworthy or unworthy period! He embarrassed those of us who want our children to be educated, live in good neighborhoods and live past the age of 21! He embarrassed those of us who although living in the inner city...still have inner pride and take great caution to raise our children in a respectful manner despite being in a war zone!  He made a mockery of us!

Because we understand the unwritten rule of being black in America. The unwritten rule that says you are only as strong as your weakest link....There is no truer statement for black people. We as black people are only as strong as our young black men that are filling  prisons at a record rate throughout the United States, We are only as strong as our young teenage girls who have a disproportionate ratio of HIV and Aids, We are only as strong as the crack head that lives on the corner or the carjacker that lives next door! Because we are linked to them by the color of our skin...We can never escape them or their actions....There is no suburb far enough away to escape them, there is no income bracket high enough to escape them, there is no coveted political office prestigious enough to escape our weakest link!  in essence We are them. In the eyes of the entire country...We are them...in the eyes of every white person living in the suburbs who don't want us for a neighbor...We are Them! We are Kwame.....When he steals...We are Kwame When he lies...We are Kwame When he cheats......We are Kwame in front of the camera....behind the podium and on the stand...We are Kwame! and Kwame chose the wrong side!

Absolutely Brilliant Analyzation.

But don't write off ALL white people as to thinking this. Half of ALL my closest friends in life, have been Black. Believe me, the intelligent do know better. The uneducated who don't, are pretty much in the same category as the people that they criticize.

But your post was absolutely Masterfully Articulate. You are to be applauded.
No doubt it will be picked for front page, and should be.

City,

Welcome to the blog's. I think you hit the nail on the head. I can see the difference you speak of in the city council. There are those who work hard and then there is the ones elected on name recognition.

Thank you for the warm welcome to the blogs! I was almost scared to log on this morning for fear some people wouldn't be ready to hear what I had to say. Sometimes the truth can be a bitter pill to swallow...trust me I know! Longshot, good point! I know ALL whites don't think that the vast majority of blacks fit the depicted sterotypes, I just don't want to give the ones that do think that any ammunition!!

Nice post! I hate grouping people or being grouped by my color! I find you have to depend on yourself and friends no matter what color you or they are! There comes a time when everyone has to stand as an individual!

I can't speak for all black people, but the ones that I know all cringe whenever anyone black makes national news for anything negative! It's almost as if we feel we will be held accountable for their actions, despite not even knowing that person. I wish it were different, like I wish kwame truly understood that it's not ALL ABOUT HIM! I have encountered people in Detroit who feel like we should "forgive" Kwame and move on, but I think Kwame being re-elected for a second term, after his first controversial term...was forgiveness enough!

cityblues.. liked your post.I only wish Kwame could read it himself. Maybe he would GET IT.But even then I don't think he would do the right thing..And RESIGN he's just to self-centered.

Great work cityblues!!!!!
You are the prime example of what Dr.King ment when he said......"JUDGE ME BY THE CONTENT OF MY CHARACTER, NOT BY THE COLOR OF MY SKIN." I, also wish Fox2 could air your post. Keep up the good work.

Hey CityBlues!,
I really enjoy the ATL scene-The city is prosperous and the country side is gorgeous. When I first moved down here, I forgot what month it was! Never seen roses bloom in February, and so different flavors of "fine" as far as guys go =) Anywho, thanx for the response-will be checking your blogs. ?

WOW...That was powerful. I couldn't have said any better. OMG...You hit it right on the head. I wander does that make any difference to the other half of Detroit. You have successfully relayed the message that so many of us have been silently living by. Thank you from all us..

I totally agree with everything that you have said about this situation. I'm a long time Detroiter of 45 years and I didn't vote for him in the beginning. I voted for Gil Hill that's how desperate I was. I saw thru his bul#@*&$ from the start. I went to Lansing as a teacher in 2002 when he attempted to manipulate the school board, and we won. Then he started the friends and family business, the money stealing,
and lying. I knew then it was going to be a long term. Next election i was sure that he would lose and then I hear about the lights going out and the missing truck and another term of Kwame yet again. Now judgement day has finally come and he still acts as if all is well with the 36th district judges in his back pocket. But I've waited too long for this day and I know its about over now.I don't wish jail on anyone but I want justice for me, my kids, and this hard working city. Kim Worthy is the class act that she was when she brought down those crooked cops that everyone has seemed to have forgotten about! Let's get this city back to normal and get rid of the trash! Go Pistons!

Man, that was well said. The only thing i would say is do not worry, there are many good black people. I do not judge all people by one man, or his color. I have many black friends, who are just like family to me.When any man or woman of any color sins, it affects there faith, family, and there future. In Kwames case, it affects our city and its people!

Thanks so much for all of the positive feedback on this post! I know that there are so many things that need to be said by the citizens of Detroit, but it seems we are never asked. We are left to trust the people we put in office to be our voice, and too many times they misrepresent us. Case in point; Kwame put the "ME" in KwaME, and I don't see how he can continue to pose as if he is capable of handling the business of the city. He has crippled Detroit and shown his arrogance by not stepping down so the city can REALLY move on and begin to heal.

I am a proud Detroiter who was born in the Motor City and have remained in the city or near suburbs for my entire life! I'm pretty shy until you get me behind the safety of a computer screen and then...watch out! The keyboard becomes my instrument through which I share my two cents! I know, I know...two cents ain't much in this economy..but they're mine and to me....they're priceless!
