Did anyone notice that the gas prices went down?
Way down.
Almost as soon as Barack was elected?
Can a human be a good luck charm?
I haven't heard alot of people mention gas prices. The world is really silent right now, except for the layover celebrations from the election.
The ecomony is still in a upheaval. The Big three are in trouble. My dad worked for GM and retired when I was born. Yet, they aren't making any cars, now that we can afford to put gas in them.
I haven't seen prices this low since before I started driving.
It's a good thing and a change is going to come. Things can only get better.

Wednesday 61 year old Mitch Mitchell was found dead. Today it was confirmed that he had died of natural causes.
In my book, Mitch one third of the greatest band put together. The Jimi Hendrix Experience. Bassist Noel Redding died in 2003. If you listen to many of the jams, the drumming in Hendrix's songs were as prevelant as Hendrix's Guitar. A perfect mix of Redding Bass, Mitchell's Drums & the Master of Guitar.
Just more bad news for what has already been the worst year for Music World Losses. These artists were not that old, and all from our youth that didn't seem all that long ago.
It's sad and disheartening once again. They leave us way too soon, but their spirits and music will live on for us to enjoy. The music that they produced made our world a lot more tolerable and enjoyable.
This threesome have now all been united once again, hopefully jamming their hearts out. The last of the Jimi Hendrix Experience is now gone, but in reality the Experience will continue to Exist.
On these last ones, if you just sit back and listen with your eyes closed. They are not gone at all, you can still Hear, See & Feel them. They'll never be gone........................

THE STUDIO THEATRE
PRESENTS AN EXPOSED THEATRICAL EXPERIENCE
This Fall, the Studio Theatre is taking an unconventional
approach to Arthur Miller’s classic drama, A
View from the Bridge. Audience members should expect an exposed, raw
theatrical experience. The story revolves around the lives of Italian-American
immigrants living in New York City
in the 1950s. It’s an ominous tale that dramatizes the deconstruction of the family
unit. Performances will be at 8 p.m. on November 28 - 29 and December 4 - 6 and
at 2 p.m. on November 29.
A View from the Bridge
takes a profound look at the unwritten laws of Italian-American families in the
1950s. Having raised his niece, Catherine, from birth, Eddie Carbone feels a
deep, almost lustful connection to her. Trouble begins with the arrival of
distant cousins from Italy.
Tension soon soars when Catherine becomes romantically involved with one of the
cousins, Rodolpho. Not ready to give her over to another man, Eddie becomes
obsessed with keeping the two apart, ultimately breaking traditional Italian cultural
norms. Jealousy, betrayal and lust destroy the Carbone family and the surrounding
community. The doomed characters continue to retell their tragic story, hoping
eventually they’ll be able to escape their trapped existence.
Director Matt Foss envisions the production as a revealing
glimpse into the lives of the Carbones. Technical aspects of the production
will be kept simple: a minimal set, grey costumes and a few lights. This will
not be a typical night at the theatre. The audience will always be aware they
are merely observing a re-telling, a tragic account of broken family bonds. It
will be the characters’ duty to find a way out of their purgatory.
A View from the Bridge
is directed by Ph.D. candidate Matt
Foss. The cast includes Natalie
Burtney (Catherine), Chris Tucker
(Eddie), Bill Zimmerman (Alfieri), Bethany Hedden (Bea), EJ Assi (Rodolpho) and Shane Reinhard (Marco). The ensemble
consists of Sienna Hassett, Ciarah
Mosley, Samantha Moltmaker, Ted Neda, William Turbutt and Samantha Menzo.
The production team includes Madeline Greenwalt as costume designer, Chris Ameel as scenic designer and Wendy Wojciechowski as sound and lighting designer.
A
View from the Bridge plays at the Studio Theatre November 28, 2008 to
December 6, 2008. The Studio Theatre is located downstairs at the Hilberry
Theatre at 4743 Cass Ave.
in Detroit. Ticket prices range from $10-$12.

Do away with the IRS and the existing tax code. A flat tax of 15% on purchases does away with income taxes. If you are a consumer, you are a tax payer. The more stuff you buy the more often you pay it. That would be real income for the government from the 45% of Americans who pay no taxes. In addition we would get money from the 12 million illegal aliens, that pay no taxes now. It would put more money in the your pocket, as well as the government, and companies could quit spending 10% of their income to tax preparers.
mrmajestic
Nov 5, 2008 | 9:32 PM
The richer would spend more money, therefore more tax dollars. You don't want to pay taxes, limit your purchases. A truly fair tax. Think of the money the government would save without the IRS. No audits, no back taxes, no enforcement problems.

You were one of the very first bloggers after the election to go after Obama with race card comments. You promised to leave and start a new state, yet here you are today, bashing those of us who have been here for several years. I guess I know that you don't practice what you preach. It's hard for me to get a handle on the real person inside of the cut and paster. I've looked at your response to postings and I find such brainiac phrases as: HA, Good One, Here's One for Ya, Git-r-Done. When you make the occasional eight to nine word sentence structure, it is often filled with "I" or "me". I deduce that you're not really happy and perhaps are going through an identity crisis of sorts. Perhaps its because the best years have passed you by, or you're feeling the shock of closing in on age 60. I wouldn't have to hypothesize, but the real Cook Substance isn't there...only uncredited quotes from some obscure, non-mainstream, "person" that flows on a once or twice per day regime. Tell us who you really are and what you think. It's really hard to tell, based on your scant few words alone.

I learned early on that OldGI wasn't a racist. He defended himself much to ardently and was willing to quit blogging on the political scene to prove his point. Neither democrats nor republicans, liberals or conservatives, will elect our new president. The majority of the American voters will vote their conscious. Some people will love the outcome, others won't. After the election, we will still have each other as blogger friends and we'll go about life, trying as best we can to get by. The socialism has already started with the buyouts. Blaming the next president, for what this president has done is counter-productive. We've got a long way to go to recapture the image that America was the greatest nation on earth. It will take each one of us, doing our part to allow that to happen.

Man, Cook, you are just so eloquent in your ability to preach to the choir. Too bad your "choir" only reaches, at best 15 people. Much like your candidate, you pass the talking points back and forth amongst yourselves, to pump up the testosterone levels so you can pretend to be flabbergasted over every turn of the election. You can then pretend that Sarah Palin, is something more than she actually is. In the end, Obama will win, because he stayed on message throughout his entire campaign. After the election when you sit around and wonder just who to hold responsible: Remember it was the majority of the American people, a group that you seem to be distancing yourself from.

I made a point to myself and my creator, that I would be more accepting, more tolerant, and that I would treat others as they treated me. It isn't easy, but you have to look at the opportunities any segment of society, has and if they aren't the same as you, how they think will be different from you. You ask me a question, then you start quoting talking points that you've heard from the McFailin campaign. That isn't using your brain, that's reading the headlines. If you want to speak on an intelligent level, then look at his record, post it, and then discuss why you don't think its good enough. You're candidate is failing miserably, so you, like the other "spoons" start to lash out at the other candidates' supporters. You boys need a good presidential candidate like George Wallace. If I think you have a valid point and I have offended, then I'll step right up for an apology. I've been wrong before and have no problem admitting it when I am. Being white and for change from the status quo, doesn't win a lot of friends, in this blog. Everyone I know that is for Obama, all seem to be right on track with my thought processes. It really boggles my mind, when the McPalin camp tell me their candidate is not only doing a good job, but is winning in the polls, when that information is just a computer tap away. They bleech me out knowing their candidate is tanking. I'm hoping for white flight of a few folks after the election.

Sometimes, a hug is all what we need.
Free hugs is a real life controversial story of Juan Mann, A man whos
sole mission was to reach out and hug a stranger to brighten up their
lives.
In this age of social disconnectivity and lack of human contact, the effects of the Free Hugs campaign became phenomenal.
As this symbol of human hope spread accross the city, police and
officials ordered the Free Hugs campaign BANNED. What we then witness
is the true spirit of humanity come together in what can only be
described as awe inspiring.
In the Spirit of the free hugs
campaign, PASS THIS TO A FRIEND and HUG A STRANGER! After all, If you
can reach just one person How it all started:
I'd
been living in London when my world turned upside down and I'd had to
come home. By the time my plane landed back in Sydney, all I had left
was a carry on bag full of clothes and a world of troubles. No one to
welcome me back, no place to call home. I was a tourist in my hometown.
Standing there in the arrivals terminal, watching other passengers
meeting their waiting friends and family, with open arms and smiling
faces, hugging and laughing together, I wanted someone out there to be
waiting for me. To be happy to see me. To smile at me. To hug me.
So I got some cardboard and a mar
ker and made a sign. I found the
busiest pedestrian intersection in the city and held that sign aloft,
with the words "Free Hugs" on both sides.
And for 15
minutes, people just stared right through me. The first person who
stopped, tapped me on the shoulder and told me how her dog had just
died that morning. How that morning had been the one year anniversary
of her only daughter dying in a car accident. How what she needed now,
when she felt most alone in the world, was a hug. I got down on one
knee, we put our arms around each other and when we parted, she was
smiling.
Everyone has problems and for sure mine
haven't compared. But to see someone who was once frowning, smile even
for a moment, is worth it every time.
Why Did it get banned?
Public liability fear and red tape. But its all okay now! Make sure tocheck your local laws before embarking on your Hugathon!

I purchased a $200 car seat that doesn't fit into my car and because of the return policy I can not return it. So please do not shop at Target. Boycot this department store and show them that metro-detroiter will not tolerate bad business practices. This is my idea no one shops there for the rest of the year. We as a community show force. No christmas shopping, no diapers, no pharmacy. Lets show them what a true financial crisis is. Be strong. Support stores like Sam's club, Kohls, Wal-mart, Mejier, and other outlets.
