Wear Red Friday's

Let's all remember to wear something red EVERY Friday to show our support for our troops.
My sister e-mailed me this, this morning, and I just had to share. > If the Red shirt thing is new to you, read below...
>
> Last week, while traveling to Chicago on business, I noticed a Marine
> sergeant traveling with a folded flag, but did not put two and two
> together. After we boarded our flight, I turned to the sergeant, who'd
> been invited to sit in First Class (across from me), and inquired if
> he was heading home.
>
> No, he responded.
>
> Heading out I asked?
>
> No. I'm escorting a soldier home.
>
> Going to pick him up?
>
> No. He is with me right now. He was killed in Iraq , I'm taking him
> home to his family.
>
> The realization of what he had been asked to do hit me like a punch to
> the gut. It was an honor for him. He told me that, although he didn't
> know the soldier, he had delivered the news of his passing to the
> soldier's Family and felt as if he knew them after many conversations
> in so few days.
>
> I turned back to him, extended my hand, and said, Thank you. Than k
> you for doing what you do so my family and I can do what we do.
>
> Upon landing in Chicago the pilot stopped short of the gate and made the
following announcement over the intercom.
>
> 'Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to note that we have had the honor
> of having Sergeant Steeley of the United States Marine Corps join us
> on this flight. He is escorting a fallen comrade back home to his
> family. I ask that you please remain in your seats when we open the
> forward door to allow Sergeant Steeley to deplane and receive his
> fellow soldier. We will then turn off the seat belt sign.'
>
> Without a sound, all went as requested. I noticed the sergeant
> saluting the casket as it was brought off the plane, and his action
> made me realize that I am proud to be an American.
>
> So here's a public Thank You to our military Men and Women for what
> you do so we can live the way we do.
>
> Red Fridays.
>
> Very soon, you will see a great many people wearing Red every Friday.
> The reason? Americans who support our troops used to be called the
> 'silent majority.' We are no longer silent, and are voicing our love
> for God, country and home in record breaking numbers. We are not
> organized, boisterous or overbearing.
>
> Many Americans, like you, me and all our friends, simply want to
> recognize that the vast majority of America supports our troops. Our
> idea of showing solidarity and support for our troops with dignity and
> respect Starts this Friday -- and continues each and every Friday
> until the troops all come home, sending a deafening message that ...
> Every red-blooded American who supports our men and women afar, will
> wear something red.
>
> By word of mouth, press, TV -- let's make the United States on every
> Friday a sea of red much like a home coming football game in the
> bleachers.
> If every one of us who loves this country will share this with
> acquaintances, coworkers, friends, and family, it will not be long
> before the USA is covered in RED and it will let our troops know the
> once 'silent' majority is on their side more than ever, certainly
> more than the media lets on.
>
> The first thing a soldier says when asked 'What can we do to make
> things better for you?' is. 'We need your support and your prayers.'
> Let's get the word out and lead with class and dignity, by example,
> and wear Something red every Friday.
God bless America and God Bless our soldiers and keep them safe!

TIPS ON PUMPING GAS
>>
>> I don't know what you guys are paying for gasoline....
>> but here in California we are also paying higher, up to $3.50 per
>> gallon. But my line of work is in petroleum for about 31 years now,
so
>
>> here are some tricks to get more of your money's worth for every
>> gallon..
>>
>> Here at the Kinder Morgan Pipeline where I work in San Jose , CA we
>> deliver about 4 million gallons in a 24-hour period thru the
pipeline.
>
>> One day is diesel the next day is jet fuel, and gasoline, regular
and
>> premium grades. We have 34-storage tanks here with a total capacity
of
>
>> 16,800,000 gallons.
>>
>> Only buy or fill up your car or truck in the early morning when the
>> ground temperature is still cold.
>> Remember that all service stations have their storage tanks buried
>> below ground. The colder the ground the more dense the gasoline,
when
>> it gets warmer gasoline expands, so buying in the afternoon or in
the
>> evening....your gallon is not exactly a gallon. In the petroleum
>> business, the specific gravity and the temperature of the gasoline,
>> diesel and jet fuel, ethanol and other petroleum products plays an
>> important role.
>>
>> A 1-degree rise in temperature is a big deal for this business. But
>> the service stations do not have temperature compensation at the
>> pumps.
>>
>> When you're filling up do not squeeze the trigger of the nozzle to
a
>> fast mode. If you look you will see that the trigger has three
>> (3)stages: low, middle, and high. In slow mode you should be pumping
>> on low speed, thereby minimizing the vapors that are created while
you
>
>> are pumping. All hoses at the pump have a vapor return. If you are
>> pumping on the fast rate, some other liquid that goes to your tank
>> becomes vapor.
>> Those vapors are being sucked up and back into the underground
storage
>
>> tank so you're getting less worth for your money.
>>
>> One of the most important tips is to fill up when your gas tank is
>> HALF FULL or HALF EMPTY. The reason for this is, the more gas you
have
>
>> in your tank the less air occupying its empty space. Gasoline
>> evaporates faster than you can imagine. Gasoline storage tanks have
an
>
>> internal floating roof. This roof serves as zero clearance between
the
>
>> gas and the atmosphere, so it minimizes the evaporation. Unlike
>> service stations, here where I work, every truck that we load is
>> temperature compensated so that every gallon is actually the exact
>> amount.
>>
>> Another reminder, if there is a gasoline truck pumping into the
>> storage tanks when you stop to buy gas, DO NOT fill up--most likely
>> the gasoline is being stirred up as the gas is being delivered, and
>> you might pick up some f the dirt that normally settles on the
bottom.
>
>> Hope this will help you get the most value for your money.
>>
>> DO SHARE THESE TIPS WITH OTHERS!
>>
>> WHERE TO BUY USA GAS, THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT TO KNOW.
>> READ ON
>>
>> Gas rationing in the 80's worked even though we grumbled about it.
It
>> might even be good for us! The Saudis are boycotting American goods.
>> We should return the favor.
>>
>> An interesting thought is to boycott their GAS.
>>
>> Every time you fill up the car, you can avoid putting more money
into
>> the coffers of Saudi Arabia. Just buy from gas companies that
don't
>> import their oil from the Saudis.
>>
>> Nothing is more frustrating than the feeling that every time I
fill-up
>
>> the tank, I am sending my money to people who are trying to kill me,
>> my family, and my friends.
>>
>> I thought it might be interesting for you to know which oil
companies
>> are the best to buy gas from and which major companies import Middle
>> Eastern oil.
>>
>> These companies import Middle Eastern oil:
>>
>> Shell.......................... 205,742,000 barrels
>>
>> Chevron/Texaco......... 144,332,000 barrels
>>
>> Exxon /Mobil............... 130,082,000 barrels
>>
>> Marathon/Speedway... 117,740,000 barrels
>>
>> Amoco...........................62,231,000 barrels
>>
>> Citgo gas is from South America, from a Dictator who hates
Americans.
>> If you do the math at $30/barrel, these imports amount to over $18
>> BILLION! (oil is now $90 - $100 a barrel
>>
>> Here are some large companies that do not import Middle Eastern oil:
>>
>> Sunoco.................0 barrels
>>
>> Conoco.................0 barrels
>>
>> Sinclair................0 barrels
>>
>> B P/Phillips............0 barrels
>>
>> Hess......................0 barrels
>>
>> ARC0...................0 barrels
>>
>> If you go to Sunoco.com, you will get a list of the station
locations
>> near you.
>>
>> All of this information is available from the Department of Energy
and
>
>> each is required to state where they get their oil and how much they
>> are importing.
>>
>> But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of gas
>> buyers. It's really simple to do.
>>
>> Now, don't wimp out at this point.... keep reading and I'll
explain
>> how simple it is to reach millions of people!!
>>
>> I'm sending this note to about thirty people. If each of you send
it
>> to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300)...and those 300 send it to at
>> least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000) .. and so on, by the time the
>> message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have reached
>> over THREE MILLION consumers !!!!!!! If those three million get
>> excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people
>> will have been contacted!
>>
>> If it goes one level further, you guessed it .....
>> THREE HUND RED MILLION PEOPLE!!!
>>
>> Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people.
>> How long would all that take?
It's worth a shot.
Just my two cents.

I've been on this blog since 2006, and I've got to know a lot of you. I have learned quite a bit. The main thing I learned is that we are all human. We all have are opinions on politics , race, religion, the war. I can remember when I was a child sitting around the dinner table, we were told it wasn't polite to talk about religion and politics at the table. That struck me as odd. That just left boring conversations about the weather and gossip about the neighbors. Who's daughter got pregnant, and who got drunk and landed in jail for the night. (that was said in code) Like we didn't no who they were talking about. It is refreshing to me to voice my opinion and hear how others thing. It's alright if you catch me saying something you don't agree with and setting me straight, I will do the same in turn. I love all you guys, even the ones I don't always agree with. Sometimes you speak for me! And thats alright too, if I agree with you. I think thats what it means to be an American. We are a tough bunch to deal with, and if you cross us you will be dealt with! Thats why I don't worry about the fate of Detroit, or our great State and Nation. I know how Car feels. Grateful!

Boycott on Gas

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. - Brian LaFave couldn't care
less how high gasoline prices climb these days — he's parked his pickup
truck and is refusing to buy gas for a month, possibly longer.
The goal is to not use one drop of gas for 31 days," LaFave said, calling it his personal stand against the oil companies.
Now LaFave, 31, is riding his bicycle or walking everywhere he goes.
He won't even let friends pick him up unless they already planned on
being in the neighborhood.
"If they're not going out of their way, I can take the ride," he
said. "But if they're going out of their way, then ... I'm still
consuming gasoline so it kind of defeats the purpose."
LaFave started the effort May 11. He bikes to his third-shift job at Aldrich Chemical in Sheboygan Falls, a 9-mile commute.
"I did like a practice run ... two days in a row to make sure I
could do it," he said. "I'm not in the greatest shape. The mornings are
the worst. It feels like it takes forever. I get like a mile down the
road and I want to die."
It's a big change for someone who put 300 miles on his truck the week before he stopped driving it.
LaFave fills out a chart each day listing how many miles he bikes,
the destination and the gas price that day, among other things. He
plans to compute his savings and donate that amount to a charity that
provides food to children in Africa.
"I think just with the gas prices being so high, everybody complains
about it but no one ever really does anything about it," LaFave said.
"People continue to drive nonstop and not think about it, but I just
wanted to take a stand and say, `I'm not gonna pay this much money for
gas.'"

I'm ready to pack up the Vans and go to Bell Isle. I want to take my grand kids for a walk on the River walk, or take a ride to Canada thru the tunnel and come back over the bridge. I would love to take them to Holland or Frankfort, Michigan. (I've never been) I'm going to several Tiger games. I want to pack a picnic basket and take them to Rouge Park swimming. I don't want to worry about the state of the union, or my City. I want to enjoy all of the great things I can of this State and its' people. Is anybody with me? Can we have a positive blog about are area. When I stayed in the burbs of San Diego I made it plain that I was from Detroit. I saw the Crime rate rise in San Diego while I lived their. (eight years.) You never heard anything negitive about San Diego while I live there, even though their Downtown area was the worst I've seen. They had drive by's, and gangs like any major City, but you only hear positive things about them. I seen the infamous interview with Coleman Young and Bill Bonds, on T.V. while I lived in the Suburbs of San Diego. I was motified. How do you defend your City or region when you are your on worst enemy?
When I first started raising a family I already practiced the golden rule and I discovered Dr. Zuess. He told a story about these yellow people with Stars on their Chest who thought they were superior to those without Stars. It was a simple story, but it was a wonderful example to my children that no matter what color, race, or nationallity you are, somebody is always going to think they are better. Hitler tried to breed a race of blond blue eyed people. I always thought they were orignately cave drewlers. Lol. I myself have been classified as Negro, Colored, Black, Afro-American and so on. My sister recently mailed me an article saying we were really Hispanic. I really lol. Racism will always be a part of society. It's hateful! It's a form of Jealousy. It goes all the way back to Cain and Abel and a famous book called the Bible. So does the golden rule.
