As 2008 winds down to the last 30 days, we see many events & issues happen: America elects the first African-American President, ex-Mayor Kilpatrick of Detroit will end this year & begin next year in jail-The end of the Bush era comes to a close-War persists in Iraq-The financial crisis-The Big 3 automakers crisis-Gas prices soared to the $4+ range then fell just in time for the holidays well under $2 a gallon, and so much more. Myself, it has been a great year; Regina & I were married in June, we enjoyed many Tiger games & other local events, and a special surprise for Regina on the eve before her birthday this weekend-SHHHH!!!-Two tickets to Irving Berlins' White Christmas at the Fox, 4 rows from center stage! We are indeed very thankful for being able to pay our bills & enjoying life to it's fullest, while at the same time pray for those in need. My questions to my fellow Fox2 bloggers are these: What was the most significant event you saw this year & what was your best & worst memory of 2008?

I was hoping that firing up the hadron collider was going to be the most significant thing to happen this year .
But , thanks to an electrician [ they always blame us for eveything ] , it never worked .
So that leaves us with the Red Wings winning their 11th Stanley cup .
Best memory was getting together with some old friends I hadn't seen in 3 decades .
Leaving Florida was a close second .
Worste memory is that of electing a straight up commie into the whitehouse .

Most significant - Mother nature proving the only real global warming happening is eminating from Al Gore`s butt.......yes, that hot air. lol

Best memory - grandson being born

Worst memory - Hillary Clinton being rewarded with a major Obama appointment. Name just one great thing this woman has done without her hubby`s coattails. Seriously, name one....and then really think about why she has risen so high.

Also realizing Fox2 panders to the gay communtiy at the cost of freedom of speech.

2008 was a hell of a year!

How about the Beijing Olympics and Russia's war with Georgia.

My best memory of this year is graduating from high-school.

Awesome responses and I thank you for sharing them with us! I do agree with Zoot_Suit as the year isn't quite over yet. I have been quite busy since my wife went into the hospital Sunday & is still there (chest wall pain & adverse new medication reactions) plus taking care of her 90 year old father at our home has kept me quite occupied. It is quite refreshing for me to come in here for a few moments & share with all of you.

FD, funny stuff. Most significant was probably the sinful amount of money spent to win the whitehouse. Worst year for funerals in my group. I will find humor in Hillary next year. Its her turn to get caught fooling around. Probably playing pass the hot dog with Janet Reno.

My best memory is spending time with my mom and sister in Texas in January because mom died recently. Also seeing family from all over again, at her funeral, was good. I don't really have a worst moment for the year, thankfully.

I would have to say my best memories of 2008 was getting married after 4 years together and having my liver issue finally resolved/cured. My worst memories of this year was my dad's 10 year anniversary of his passing away and seeing my mother's health deteriorating. Other than that, we have enjoyed a very good year.

My best moment of the year was either the election of Barrack Obama as first Afr. Am. president of the US of America. My worst moment was watching Kwame Kilpatrick seemingly get away with murder until Kim Worthy stood on integrity. THis year was the ninth anniversary of my dad's death. Sorry to hear about your's too, car7858.
