Obama borrows from Granholm's excuse book

President-elect Barack Obama has invited Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm to be part of his economic advisory team as he prepares for the White House.

And it seems he is already adopting her playbook.

A top Obama advisor warned today that the change Americans thought they were voting for Tuesday may not come for a long time because, in his words, President George W. Bush is leaving behind such a mess.

Granholm must be his ghost writer. She spent her entire first term blaming her predecessor, former Gov. John Engler, for her inability to come up with any answers to Michigan's economic free-fall.

When state residents wearied of that excuse, she switched in her second term to blaming Bush for her paralysis in the face of disaster.

There's much Obama can learn from Granholm about dodging responsibility for not delivering on campaign promises to make things better.

Perhaps she can convince him to lead off his innaugural address with her now famous vow, "in five years, you'll be blown away.

Wow, thats so wrong to say that their statements was an "excuse". What Obama said was correct, these issue won't be fix within a couple of years. Bush is leaving office when America is a big mess! I dont want to hear anyone telling me that within one year of office, someone can fix the problems cause they would be lying through their teeth. Now all campaigns dont tell the truth sometimes, but in the last 8 years Bush vetoed documents put on the table and his mindset was in cleaning up what he started (the war). Right now America is in a big hole and its going to take time to get to the surface of promise. I rather have someone to tell me that solving these issue will take time then someone saying that the issue will solve itself or will take a year under their administration.

Andrew,

You appear to me to be VERY misinformed, let me help.

The current financial mess is NOT the fault of President Bush, it IS the fault of the DemoRat controlled house.

The war was DEMANDED and approved of by 98% of ALL of the government AND the AMERICAN people.

It took 12 years of hard work by President Reagan and President G. H. Bush to fix the financial mess that the former DemoRat government left behind, they (Reagan 7 G. H. Bush) left America a HUGE financial SURPLUS, that the VERY Honorable President G. W. Bush had to spend to fight a war that could have been avoided if the cowardly Clinton would have fought the FIRST time terrorist attacked the WTC, leaving them to think that it was okay to attack America a second time (did you happen to hear about a second attack on Sept. 11th 2001?).

If, repeat, IF the economy is going to be fixed, it is NOT going to happen with the incoming administration, IF the (R)ight were to be in control starting Jan. 20th, it would take them about eight years to fix the current mess created by the DemoRat controlled house.

I remember when daddy Bush made a campaign promise that read, "Read my lips, no new taxes".

Well, four years later and after breaking his promise, daddy Bush did not get re-elected. Many believe he was not re-elected because he broke an important campaign promise.

If President-elect Obama wants to be re-elected after his first term, he can learn a lesson from daddy Bush and do his best to keep his campaign promises. No excuses!

FACT # 1: When he left office, America's Government had a SURPLUS of funds.

FACT # 2: When he left office, American businesses were doing better than at ANY other time in history.

FACT # 3: When he left office, American Citizens had more money in their pockets.

FACT# 4: The americans were doing fine until the democrats took over the congress 2 years ago.

FACT# 5: The do nothing congress did nothing and knew their pets Fannie and Freedie and their bill that forced loans were causing our economy to colaspe.

FACT# 6: The democrats, (Barney Frank leading) refused to allow controls to be put on the loans.

FACT# 7: We now have all houses controlled by the very party that brought us to where we are today.

Enjoy it because it will get worse. They are already spending money our taxes will eventually have to pay for. As we are already a trillion in debt what is a few more trillion?

The post makes sense to me regarding shift of blame & accountability; Gov. Granholm did blame Engler at first, then when it got close to election time she pushed it onto Bush's plate, as justified as the latter might seem. It is quite apparent that the glamour girl seems to only come out of the woodwork when it is election time or there is something in it for her or her party, not for Michiganders as many have seen. The next appropriate question in that case would be if the Obama administration does not keep their campaign promises (Hoping he does) as she did, who can Americans blame for that? Most certainly not her, even though her "business advice" was so sought after by the Democrats. Of course the legitimate Bush excuse will always be in her skeleton closet but Gov. Granholm does need to be more accountable for her party & her administraion's past performances in Michigan first. Never happen in a real world.
