The majority of the American voters have spoken-President-elect Barack Obama is now our nation's 44th President, in the most historic election in our history. Though I stand by my choices, America has indeed shouted loud & clear that equal rights for all is the real message. America has taken a giant leap and matured. Let us hope he does indeed have the experience and the foresight in the coming years. His agenda will be quite tedious and I can only hope that what has happened in Michigan won't spread nationwide. This is without a doubt a decision that will indeed rock the free world & it has sent a message loud & clear, that Americans are ready to take that first step towards the future holding hands united. My eyes have indeed been opened alot wider to the bigger picture & if President-elect Obama keeps his promises and makes the right decisions, maybe America's future does show a glimmer of hope. We shall see. Congratulations to President-elect Barack Obama.

Carl,

So far your's has been the only mature response I have read. I think it will take both sides to come across the isle to make America strong again.

DEEFIRST-The proportions & ramifications of this election were indeed astounding. Tall-Agreed, the message of all Americans working together has been sent, will it be received by all? Longshot-Our posts are similar & let's hope that as America has matured, that Americans also do the right things both in politics & in the world.

I am a white Democrat. It didn't matter to me who was on the ticket but what does matter is that we can get this country back to where it should be. I voted for the person who I thought would do a good job for our country. We can't be a powerful nation if we aren't able to work and get the economy going again. I am hopeful that everyone will work with President-Elect Obama to make the changes we so desperately need. Yes, history was made last night, but I voted for the man, not his race and I wish everyone would leave it at that. I think he will be known more as a great president, not as the first African-American president.

beanie324-I can agree with most of your comment; Except the fact that he is the first African-American President, regardless of his party or views. Americans have spoken & he will always be referred to in history as just that first, breaking barriers all over the country. Whether he is a great President has yet to be seen but we can hope so for America's sake.

A democrat president with a democrat congress. Obama certainly has no excuse to blame republicans for anything. Not even what has happened in the past, the democrats can either sit around and continue to blame the republicans and do nothing or they can actually start doing what's right FOR EVERYBODY.

Oh and the way black people have shown that they can get off their tail ends to vote. Now maybe they can get organized and work together to start NEW BUSINESSes instead of sitting around and whining that nobody will hire them cause they are black.

This is a clear indication that affirmation action is no longer needed or necessary.

I'm not saying the civil rights act should be repealed, IT SHOULD NOT.

But let's keep in mind that no organization has the right or privilege to remove the rights of others.

May I remind people of the VAWA, I'll let you folks look it up. It does to men what the patriot act does to citizens of the US.

Keep in mind also Obama is a lawyer, and I warn you now he will either be a great president or he will be a criminal like kilpatrick. I hope for USA that he is a great president.

Americans have realized that we were following the wrong ideology. Obama may have dark skin, but that had nothing to do with why I voted for him.

To me this wasn't about equal rights. It is like people saying CO2 causes global warming.

CO2 also follows a warming earth as equal rights naturally follows good sense.

It is good sense that got Obama in office, equal rights is just a spinoff reality of that good sense being wrapped in a darker skin.

We cannot forget it was Obama standing against the Iraq war and his message to END the Iraq occupation that brought my middle class white college educated vote.

I hope Obama recognizes the quagmire in Afghanistan and Pakistan and does not follow through with ramping up target-bodies(troops) for the Taliban and Al-queda in the tribal regions.

We are out of money for shooting games.

Hope for America is at hand.

The war in Iraq would have been over long ago. All it takes is for congress to vote 2/3 to close it. The democrats have been going over there to force the iraq's to start programs like we have here: bans on smoking, planned parent hood, etc. If congress spent more time and money on helping the iraq's to defend themselves and helping them to work together then the iraq's would be telling congress and the president that we can leave.

Obama's administration won't be any different. Again I do hope I am wrong.

Oh I don't say this election wasn't about race. If that was the case where were all these black voters last 20 years. Fox news interviewed at least one woman that voted her first time and she is 40+.

Yes, Obama has invited the black population to join America in overcoming the problems inherant in a military-industrial complex.

And they followed. Welcome.

oh we have more problems then just an over zealous military industrial complex. I'm sure the DEA is just as corrupt as the movie American Gangster reminded me of how corrupt the NY DEA was in the 60/70's. I remember the term Johnny Law referring to a corrupt cop.

and yes many more black people came out to vote when obama asked, well demanded in actuality, but again where have these black people been in the past? Well I guess they have come out to vote for black mayors and black congresspeople and other black folks, so again where were these numbers of black americans before this presidential race?

And Yes I will would also like to add, Welcome to a country that does belong to them also and thank you for finally participating, what took you so long.

Haven't there been many black americans in poltics, hollywood, tv, etc. Glad to see many black americans are finally willing to join the country instead of hiding in some african culture which sold your ancestors to people in this country which many white people died for their freedoms (civil war) 2 white people 1 black person freedom fighters. Many white people have been here to help black people get their fair share. but many black people still have been hiding behind their race. So yes again i say welcome also.

Time will tell if Obama is all that his perceived message will happen. I for one will be expecting bigger and better things from him then McCain, for the simple fact Obama said he was going to be bringing bigger and better things to all america and I hope he does. God Bless.

cause remember that white people have proven once and for all that we are not racist. So black people can start being more mature in their civic duties. No more riots, no more whining help us help us.

Black poeple can now act like US citizens and not refugees from the south or from africa.

they can now teach their young not to do drugs and not to shoot their classmates, or commit countless other crimes and blame it on white people.

So amen, welcome to the US of A. Enjoy with pride enthusiasm and most importantly maturity.

What I see wrong with this post:

No one SHOUTED loud and clear, only about half did last night. (52%)

However, equal rights were won decades ago, NOT last night.

America is NOT united; we are almost split exactly in two. (52%-48%)

What has happened in Michigan, DID spread nationwide, just about 2006 when the DemoRats got control of the house, did you hear about the bailouts, or the stimulus packages?

So yes, congratulations to FOREIGN COMMUNIST elect Nobama.

America DOES have a long and nasty fight ahead of itself, it needs to roll up its sleeves and get to work removing this FOREIGN COMMUNIST from office.

Nobama is NOT black as defined by United States rules (minimum 12%) he is only 6.25% black, he IS 50% arab.

Ok Obama did not win because of the black vote 77% of people that voted for him were white. Cyyplesma are you black or white cause if u are white u are real close to being offensive. You dont know that black people "teach their young" to do drugs and shoot their classmates. You make all of us seem like animals. The school I graduated from was mainly white and it was the white kids selling drugs in the school and actually had a prostitution ring in the middle school. I am black and I have never took part in a riot I dont tell my kids to do drugs or shoot people. And when you make comments like that you only prove that racisim is not dead. You act like if you are white then it is impossible for you to commit senseless crimes. You could have worded your comment better. Anyway I am proud to say that he is my president and I am excited to see the changes to come!

The bailouts were the Republicans brainchild, more specifically Bush. He could have vetoed them but didn't & now America will be faced with trillion dollar debts and handed a few hundred dollars to "keep them quiet". Sounds like politics as usual for the many of the Democrats, accepting the handouts & hardly ever contributing. And by the way, Obama IS African-American, regardless of your "slant". I believe this election showed that in one form or another, but don't let that be the gauge to his agenda & plans-Let's just wait & see. America has voted, or did you hear the elction results?????

I have a question for Zoot_Suit. How is Obama only 6.25% black when his father is from Africa?
