I see that part of the reason for gas prices is high demand. So if we use less  the price should fall. I believe we waste a lot of gas. For example, I wonder how much fuel is wasted every day in this country by cars waiting in drive thru's like banks and fast food places.

I also notice that the speed limits on the roads are largely ignored, you better be doing 80 plus on the freeways or get out of the way. How long have you waited in a traffic jam just to find out it's caused by some fender bender. If no one is injured couldn't the involved just move off to the side of the road insted of sitting in the middle waiting for the police?

How about all the lights, commercial and residential that burn all day and night for no apparent reason?

I could go on and on, what do you think?

what really uses a lot of gas is when a traffic light holds 50 cars while there is no traffic on the green side of the light.
It would be nice to have some form of sensor on the traffic light keeping it green where it is needed!

BP,

Welcome to the blogs. The courts are just full of people who moved their cars to the side of the road.

Welcome to the blogs . I think we should all try to conserve as much fuel as possible . We should also be drilling and supplying our own oil , and keep the money here at home , instead of going to our future and present enemies in the middle east .

I know for a fact that your car can run on purified used cooking oil... why dont they have a station to fill up yet? i think that might be the next step... not everyone has money to buy the new Tesla car!

It's more than just a choice when our choices have an negative impact on our society. People just can't choose to do whatever they want under the auspices of freedom. Making responsible choices gives liberty and freedom a chance to work because then there would be less government involvement in our lives.

Conserving fuel is a responsible choice, which would bring down demand for gasoline, which in turn would bring down the price of gasoline. Responsible conservation of our natural resources helps the free market work in the favor of the consumer. Prices would be cheaper.

Liberty + Responsibility = Our freedoms.

What we have here ladies and germs, is an evil failure to communicate. When the US decided to drill oil and transport it down to the states from Alaska, every swinging "RICHARD" and his cousin who hugs a tree began the rants and ravings of saving Mother Earth. Yet all these years later, the animals survived and we have oil pumping through a gadzillion mile pipeline. We have limits on what we can or cannot drill out of the Gulf of Mexico. It's easy to fix.
1. Take the U.N. out of NY and put them on a floating island near Greenland.
2. Notify every stinking country outside of our own (we'll give Canada a one time break), that all imports to you, and all exports into the US from you, are now ended. No food, no water, no flour, no rice, nothing to you or from you and your countrymen.
3. All business doing business outside of this country has a 30 day grace period to move your company back or your business is over with.
4. Alert Vincete Fox that all illegals aliens will be brought back to his country, and all aid to Mexico stops immediately.
5. Once this has been inacted, have Bush open the Federal Reserve to alleviate the excessive price of fuel. We'll have save alot of money because we're not given away free medical, free food and free working status to any foreign immigrant. No education allowed at any University in this country from foreigns.

See how long it takes before this country has the "poor countries" begging for help. No fuel, no support.

Tell OPEC to go to H*LL. No more rebuilding of schools or houses or business in IRAQ due to us bombing them in retaliation. No more sucking up to the rag heads who sit and laugh over the price of Oil that Saudi Arabia is charging us. Simply inform them that all military equipment and munitions to them ceases immediately. No more free dental to Somalia or South America or Libya or Korea or any other country until we fix the teeth and smiles of our children here. No more aid to those countries who take us stuff and then bad mouth us. Remove all Spanish from our language here. You want to come here, then learn the language of our country. Give them a year, and if they cannot speak it, send them back. Give IRAN an ultimatum. Stop the nuclear testing or rebuilding of nucler generators, or we'll light you up like rockets in the night. Let's quit pansy aZZ-ing each and every country because we're the big brother of the world. Let's fix this country, and then see what we can do to fix other countries that made an effort to help us.

Our 3 and 1/2 cents worth.

Even though I would like the moritorium lifted on drilling for oil in America, that's not what we have right now. What we can do right now to lower the price of gasoline is to conserve. People can be creative in figuring out ways to conserve on their own.

I'm not ready to move back to the stone ages, but I'm also not happy about the price of gasoline. We need to rely on the free market to set a more reasonable price for oil. Demand goes down, supplies go up, prices go down. It's a short term fix for a long-term problem that can take into account all the other posts referenced above.

We need to something today and then plan for America's future.

stooltime we have known for almost 40 years now e need to drill and create new refineries.

thinking long term is what is needed, you need to think past your nose. it is not going to get any better as other countries incease their needs for oil.

Wake up man

I know, Colt. I agree that we should already have the infrastructure in place to be doing more off shore drilling. If we would've done it 40 years ago, we wouldn't have that dependency on middle eastern oil right now. We can thank the extreme environmentalists (and some politicians) for this one. You and I can at least agree on this one.

And I meant to say "plan for the future", not "and then plan for the future". We need to do something today (conserve) as well as plan for the future so America is less dependent on countries that don't like us.

I agree with you Stooltime, enough cussing about what we coulda, shoulda, woulda done. We need to do something that will take an immediate effect on fuel prices.

Its a shame its come down to us working American giving up are option of enjoying family outting, to conserve GAS. We should be putting more pressure on our goverment and gas companies. We need Alternative rescources and more gas production here in the USA. We also need tax incentive to off set the cost of gas, depending on your salary , some of us only work to pay gas and maybe a bill... We are being force to trade in SUV, 6 or 8 Cylinder automobile for Hybird or fuel effiecient cars. What happen when the price tag on your current car is more than smaller car? These are my comment of fury!!
