They have been talking about dropping the state tax on gas for the Memorial Day holiday. But the state would lose too much money it is said.
I took a trip to Lansing last weekend. Set the cruise control on 70 mph. Cars zoomed by me at a rate of about 3 or 4 per minute.
Isn't a speeding ticket about $100 ? Add them all up, that would make up the money lost on the gas tax.
I see that part of the reason for gas prices is high demand. So if we use less the price should fall. I believe we waste a lot of gas. For example, I wonder how much fuel is wasted every day in this country by cars waiting in drive thru's like banks and fast food places.
I also notice that the speed limits on the roads are largely ignored, you better be doing 80 plus on the freeways or get out of the way. How long have you waited in a traffic jam just to find out it's caused by some fender bender. If no one is injured couldn't the involved just move off to the side of the road insted of sitting in the middle waiting for the police?
How about all the lights, commercial and residential that burn all day and night for no apparent reason?
I could go on and on, what do you think?
