If a sitting politician wants to run for another office, why shouldn't he or she resign the office they currently hold?  They do not do justice to the office they currently hold since they are too busy campaigning.  There should be some risk involved for wanting to boost your Ego.

This is not the same as keeping your job while looking for a better one.  This involves what you were elected in the first place to do, represent your constituants.  This applies to both parties.

I know this will never happen, since elected officials feel they are immune to everything.
