Hey Tigers Fans----

OK, the day has come...... I hope no one thought that these players would be here forever, because that doesn't happen.......... Perhaps some of you are sad at the deal, but there is a bright side......... remember, Pudge wanted close to 13 million bucks for his next year of service...... should the Tigers have paid that?????  NO!!!!  So they did the next best thing, trading him so that they could get value for him while it was still there......... besides, if you want Pudge back, then wait until the end of the season and make another play for him then.......... Kyle Farnsworth returns to Detroit as a big time help to an ailing bullpen, so as far as I'm concerned, it's a win -win!!!!!  The only problem????  Brandon Inge will be the catcher for this team for the final 2 years of his contract-- a position he's wanted to get away from--- will he be happy???  or will he resist the change??..........What do you think????

---Woody

Woody, in reference to the Pudge's contract issue 13 mil. You can't be serious, nor can anyone in the Tigers organization. Money seemed to be no object for the Tigers when it's compared to lack-lustre talent. Magglio's 15 mil a year (1st yr on DL) and approx 14 homes runs this yr is not exactly what I would call a great investment. Pudge was the face of the Detroit Tigers. He brought the fan base back to Comerica Park. He is a Hall of Famer. Why not let him finish his career here. Obvisoulsy, the Tigers organization DOES NOT have any concern with filling the seats at the Park. Pudge goes so, goes the Fan base until something exciting about this team comes along and it sure isn't their exciting season!

I think Pudge's reputation as the face of the franchise has steadily decreased over the years. He's still a serviceable player, but not a $13M catcher anymore.

This is the definition of a good trade. Both teams needed help. Both teams filled holes. Pudge is a free agent this winter. If he wants back, the door could very well be open.

If you want excitement, thomasdte1, you'll get it with Farnsworth coming back to the team. Unless of course he finally got a handle on his anger management problem.

As far as Pudge, I heard him say he has "nothing bad" to say about the Detroit Tigers organization. Yes, we will miss him, and what he brought to the team. Sometimes business as usual is very unusual. Baseball is truly a business now.

Good luck to you, Pudge!

Hey Woody couldn’t agree with you anymore Pudge was tailing off as a Tiger and it was obvious to anyone who has spent any length of time coving this team this year that Pudge was clearly displeased with his newly defined role with the team on a platoon system with Inge. Pudge is a free agent to be at the end of the season and he wants to show what skills he has left no one can blame Rodriguez for that he is still a very serviceable catcher in this league despite his age. As we all know Detroit wasn’t going to pay him $13 million next season, so it’s better that Detroit got something in return rather than allowing him to walk at the end of the year. It worked out for both teams really Pudge gets to play every day and the Tigers get bullpen help in Farnsworth something they desperately needed for the stretch run.

I came to Fox 2 in 1998 after spending time in the Sunshine State. My career began while I was at the University of Miami and I tried out for 3rd base on the Miami Hurricanes baseball team as a "walk on"!!! I was the last guy cut that season and I decided then that if I couldn't make the team I was going to stay close to the program.... so in addition to being the program director at the campus radio station-- WVUM, I also helped start up the campus cable television network... and that led to a job as a Cameraman shooting sports for local station WCIX. I caught a break when I was offered a chance to go "on air"..... That chance allowed me to secure the weekend spot at WFOR in Miami, Florida and then I made the jump to Motown. This city is one of the best sports towns in the nation and I'm pleased as punch to be a part of the magic. I think that the Sports Staff at Fox 2 is the best, and we always strive for excellence. There's no phony baloney, sing along jingles or "video arcades" here-- just straight sports presented in a truly creative way..... That's how I like it, and if you feel that way too, then I'll see you at 5, 6, and 10 for our daily broadcasts-- and Sportsworks Sunday Night, right here on FOX 2!!
