Hey Gang---

I made a point not to comment on the Tigers until they reached the "Sparky Anderson 40 game" mark..... but with a record of 15-21 after 36 games, I've got a feeling that I can let go of my opinion now--- and it's an opinion that's not good!!  This squad came in with a ton of promise, but perhaps the easy spring boosted some false confidence..... I believe that this squad coasted into the season and is now paying the price.......... I also think that there's something wrong with Justin Verlander....... there's no way that he should be 1-6 and the lack of speed on his fastball could be part of the issue......... Last year, Verlander could find 96-99 when he needed it-- but this season that extra is nowhere to be found!!!  Could it be physical?? I think that's the only possibility left--- Same thing with Jeremy Bonderman!!  He's still struggling to start games, and instant holes are not what the Tigers need......  This 40 game mark should also light a small fire under G.M. Dave Dombrowski--- he's got to get set to make a move.... and a bigger one than sending Jacque Jones out for assignment.  Dombrowski better be trying to put a major package together, because this squad is banking on the present--- and if there's no present, then the future will be bleak as well...... so let's all look towards Detroit doing something major to shake things up---- because the status quo will not get it done......

What do you think??

In 2006 the Tigers were picked to finish last in their division and were one of the teams to get laughed at in MLB. Leyland instilled confidence in the team and they made the playoffs and then made it to the World Series. They were then picked as favorites to win the World Series, and look what happened, they were beat by a near .500 team in the St. Louis Cardinals. In 2007, the Tigers were picked to win their division. What happened, Cleveland won the division and they didn't even make the playoffs. In 2008, they were one of the favorite teams picked to WIN the World Series, and at this rate they won't even make the playoffs. We do have a good team, however, I think things went to their heads and Leyland has lost the edge he had back in 2006. The Tigers are NOT playing like a team.

Could someone PLEASE answer this question. During one of the games on FSN against Boston, they showed that the Tigers were #2 in the league in walks. I would like to know where the Tigers rank as a team with runners left on base??? We seem to leave A LOT of runners on base. Where do we rank in that category????

In a desperate attempt wishing that unexpected miracle would miraculously appear in cure the litany of problems facing the Tigers. However, so far those prayers have not been answered. The rout of the problem now a day’s seems to mixed bag of everything that could possibly go wrong has for the Tigers and there appears to be no end in sight. On their current home stand they are abysmal 2-3 and all everything manager Jim Leyland appears to be lost. Even his brilliance over the last 2½ seasons in resurrecting this bargain basement franchise has no answer for this disastrous start for such a promising ballclub coming out of spring training. However someone needs to tell the Tigers that you play games on the field and not on paper because their 16-21 mark has them sitting near the bottom of this highly disappointing AL Central. To those that would bring up the argument that the Tigers are only sitting 3.5 half games out of first place I would say your living in a fantasy world wearing rose colored glasses. The Tigers can be accurately depicted as the ultimate jackal Hyde its either all or nothing with team, I feel as if we’re all in an emotional game of high stakes game of poker. The Tigers have put all their chips on the table and their debating where or not they want rise or fold. As of now they are folding at an unbelievable rate. Part of the problem seems to be the Tigers incredible lack of competitive fire. With the 2nd highest payroll in league the Tigers are secure for the foreseeable future both finically and otherwise so I wonder if they have the d

Woody himself said the Tigers have "Fat Cat Comfort" to describe the guaranteed big salaries for most of the team. Guaranteed big money ... win or lose.

I came to Fox 2 in 1998 after spending time in the Sunshine State. My career began while I was at the University of Miami and I tried out for 3rd base on the Miami Hurricanes baseball team as a "walk on"!!! I was the last guy cut that season and I decided then that if I couldn't make the team I was going to stay close to the program.... so in addition to being the program director at the campus radio station-- WVUM, I also helped start up the campus cable television network... and that led to a job as a Cameraman shooting sports for local station WCIX. I caught a break when I was offered a chance to go "on air"..... That chance allowed me to secure the weekend spot at WFOR in Miami, Florida and then I made the jump to Motown. This city is one of the best sports towns in the nation and I'm pleased as punch to be a part of the magic. I think that the Sports Staff at Fox 2 is the best, and we always strive for excellence. There's no phony baloney, sing along jingles or "video arcades" here-- just straight sports presented in a truly creative way..... That's how I like it, and if you feel that way too, then I'll see you at 5, 6, and 10 for our daily broadcasts-- and Sportsworks Sunday Night, right here on FOX 2!!
