The reason Ohio has such great roads is because they have implemented Tolls. The trade off in our case would be that Lansing would need to reduce our gas tax. My guess is that Michigan residents would not want toll roads since we have a demand for reimbursement to MDOT for time spent in traffic. Toll roads in Michigan would be turned down because residents do not want to pay. Personally, if we could get a system that actually works I would recommend tolls just to get a reduction in the gas tax, i.e., if we could safeguard the funds from pork and greedy hands it just might work.
