The Mind is a Terrible Thing to Waste.

A female relative was driving 441 the other night -- late. Very few other cars on the road. She's in the middle lane.

A car comes up on her left relatively fast, pulls alongside and slows to match her speed for a few seconds. She figures it's a cop. But then the car accelerates, pulls right in front of her and applies the brakes. Happily, she's alert enough to brake in time to avoid a collision.

What happened? The other driver was obviously hoping to be rear-ended and:
- looking for a quick cash settlement or an insurance co. payout;
--or --
- as driver information was being exchanged, he was looking to rob her, or worse.

Bottom line? If you're alone at night and you're involved in a minor accident, do NOT get out of your car. Call 911 and get a cop there ASAP.

If you don't have a phone, exchange info through the window. If the other driver is menacing at all, drive away, if you can, and go to the nearest Police Station. Make note of the other car's make and model and plate number, if you can.

Predators are out there, and they're not just going after children.

I have seen and heard of that kind of crap going on. Don't you wish we could equip our vehicles with a gigantic fly swatter on the front bumper, and just swipe the dog-snot out of some jackass that pulls a stunt like that?
Years ago, I was on 434 in Winter Springs, (believe it or not, it WAS a 2-lane Rd back then) and these 3 guys first tried to race me in my T/A, then tried to run me off the road when I ignored them. At one point, they pulled almost sideways in front of me, I went around them, hauled A- and pulled into the Winter Springs Police Station, jumped out, and ran up to their door, which was LOCKED! A dispatcher let me in, the punks had followed me, but then took off. They DID end up getting
stopped, and one of the boys said,"Well she's my girlfriend!" And I said, (to the cop with me, talking to the cop who had stopped them over the radio) "Oh yeah, then what's my name?" And he said something completely off. They did arrest the driver and one of the passengers for outstanding warrants. Losers! Now, who knows what they would have done to me, had I stopped on the side of the road!

What I don't understand IF THERE was not collision why did she stop and/or exchanged info??? This is a very wise statement, as I have been trying to alert FLORIDIANS of the big scams going on like back up North. Also, the jay walkers and bicycle riders..they wait till the light is changing to decide to walk or ride their bikes RIGHT in front of you..looking to get hit FOR A QUICK BUCK...LETS GIVE A ROUND OF APPLAUSE to LAW FIRMS SUCH AS MORGAN AND MORGAN, AND MARTINEZ, MANGLIARI, ETC....AND ALL THESE FIRMS THAT ADVERTISED, if you been injured in a car accident..BLAH BLAH HOGWASH......

being a night driver theres tons of reasons other person did that for other than just being a creep. Who's in the wrong who knows everyone will have their own story, without the other account, I cant say. Although I wouldn't let your guard down..

He was tired and them lights were bright, or her low beams were to bright. They had their cruise on and she sped up (I find this happens every time my cruise is on). They thought you should and move right except to pass. Fog lights are f-in annoying with bright lights and theres no need to have them on. If you can't see at night don't drive. Probably a few reasons I could have missed.. a good brake check is a good wake up at night.

But like I said without both side of the story who knows.
