I know the title sounds horrible- let me explain.  It was no nice and refreshing, on this, the anniversary of that horrible day, to see our political leaders STOP for a moment and get back to what matters.  I have been so sickened over the last few weeks with the horrible tone of the presidential campaign- it really doesn't do anyone any good.  I wish the general public and especially the media didn't feed into it like we do.

And that's why I'm thankful for today- to have a ceasefire in all the campaign B.S. and have Americans be civil to one another again.  I know tomorrow will likely be back to the drama again, but that makes me sad.  Aren't we better than that? Didn't that day teach us anything?

Ms. Hughes:

Although I still wouldn't have used the title that you did, I concurr with your sentiment.

It was nice to see McCain & Obama walking side-by-side in unity.

Hopefully people will understand I'm not thankful for that horrible horrible attack, but behind every great tragedy are always important lessons. At first we all seemed to get it, and came together for one another, but we've lost it-- again. I know campaigning is hard, but it really did give me a good feeling to see the two candidates together. All the negativity just makes me ill. I'm so sick of it, but I guess we deserve some of the blame, too because they wouldn't do it if it didn't work.

Im thankful for 9/11. We got off easy IMO. It could have been a chemical or nuclear plant that was targeted, and pre-9/11, our security was too lax... the rest of the world knew it. It was a wake up call that I think could not have been avoided (or rather, we needed to THAT wake up, and if it didnt happen, we could have ended up worse), and losing a few thousand people is a small price to pay considering what is at risk.
