That cartoon could be me! Got a cough, smoke Kools. Hows this one, go light this for me off the stove, but don't puff it. Yeah right. What thats saying to me is they always knew that smoking was harmful. Who do I sue? The government is getting all the lawsuit money and the taxes from smoking cigarettes. Where is mine. Now thats what reparations should be dished out for. I had my left lung operated on back in January for lung cancer, and I had a co-payment. I get Medicare and they paid the bulk of it, but I can't pay the co-pay. What a Joke, huh?

Yeah Carole , I've never heard the government tell us to bring our reciepts for cigs to get our fare share of all that cash they are collecting from the smoke companies .
It's just another government sham .

lets see since 1964 the surgon has made all packs of cigaretts carry warning lables.

DO you not know that Carole? you made the decision to smoke and then pay the price. it is no different that a hard drinker how dies from liver failure.

More people expecting the govt to be their daddy!

I do agree however that the money the states and fed sucked out of a LEGAL business should be repaid to them.

Carole no one owes you BLEEP!

Does anyone remember a cigarette called, "Kent", the one with the micronite filter? I don't know if it's true, but I heard the micronite filter was made of asbestos, another substance we knew very little about 2 generations ago.

I agree Colt. They (The Government) have been telling us smoking was bad for us they did there part on letting us know. On this smoking ban well I can see it in a restaurant but a bar is just over the line. I go to a bar to sing Karaoke it's smokey, and I know that before I go. It is my choice to go into the bar.

Colt I had been smoking for 12 years when they started putting warnings on Cigarette packs, and you're right nobody owes me jack. I still pay for my cigarettes out of my own pocket not yours. I was just making a statement. If it came off like I was begging, then you got it all wrong. I worked for the government and it worked me!

PROHIBITION (1920–1933 R.I.P.) was known as The Noble Experiment. The results of the experiment are clear: innocent people suffered; organized crime grew into an empire; the police, courts, and politicians became increasingly corrupt; disrespect for the law grew; and the per capita consumption of the prohibited substance—alcohol—increased dramatically, year by year, for the thirteen years of this Noble Experiment, never to return to the pre-1920 levels.
You would think that an experiment with such clear results would not need to be repeated; but the experiment is being repeated; it's going on today. Only the prohibited substances have changed. The results remain the same. They are more devastating now than they were then.

I am an American Indian. I developed Muscular Dystrophy in 2001 at the ripe old age of 44. I spend my days mostly on line and with my wife, and kids. I guess you could say I'm a Democrat but I am most interested in what any candidate can do to improve the world in which we live. I know I really spell poorly but I take solace in the fact that neither could Einstein. LOL
