I have been seeing the Obama ads on TV lately speaking about heathcare and taxes. I know many people believe what the ads say without thinking about how Obama's claims will work.

He claims he won't raise taxes to cover his healthcare plan, but how can he accomplish what he says without some money coming from somewhere? How will insurance companies offer the his level of care for the same or less money?

He says  there will be no pre-existing conditions, a person can keep the same doctor, and all will be covered. From the business side, that means all doctors will have to be part of every insurance's network and cost will go up for the insurance companies because there will be no limit to pre-existing conditions. (this is one model of socialized healthcare)

While that sounds good to the insured, it comes with a price. Who will pay it? Us. We always bear the cost somewhere.

Taxes are a way that we citizens pay over and over for the same thing. That is why tax rates are so high. It is a hidden payment for what we pay for elsewhere.

Another of Obama's ads says he will give more tax breaks than Mac. The people making less than $250k are said to not be taxed more. We all have seen the proof that Obama will be taxing those making $95k. He is working both sides on this. He is being less than honest because he really does not understand economics and taxation or healthcare/business.

I find his ads to be dishonest. People need to think of what it will take to do what he plans to do. No one gets a free ride.

What plans do you have for election night? Does anyone vote absentee? How do you feel about absentee voting? I think some people who called in to Mark Davis' show said they wished that practice would go away. I have voted absentee once because I didn't want to miss out.

This year I plan to have an election night snacky party at the house. I will place many flags around the lawn. I am very excited to see Sarah be the first female vice in our long history! I am excited that I will rest deeply knowing John is at the helm.

I can't wait!!!

Consider that the Chinese government makes strategic plans based off of the next one hundred years. The Russians have historically based theirs off of 25 - 50 years. The U.S. bases it's off of stop-gap policies, partisanship, and political expediency.

I think it would be better to consider the long term ramifications of immigration policies, military expenditure, trade, and budget balancing - with the hope of being solvent. What we have been doing only works for a short while. Reagan had some great policies that helped America in the short and long term. The Clinton years saw many of those policies die.

The concept of America before self would do well to make a comeback. When I read Thomas Jeffereson, John Adams, Alexander Hamilton, Lincoln, and even Reagan, I feel saddened by the depths we sunk to these days.

Maybe the best we can hope for is for the citizenry at large to begin making changes at home and each community. America does not seem to be getting better year after year. Quite the reverse appears obvious.

If all the major nations of the world destroyed their tanks, missles, planes, and ships of war and declared peace with each other, would there still be wars?

This quote makes me think of why the news is reported the way it is and why political campaigns are sold as they are.

"The unreal is more powerful than the real, because nothing is as perfect as you imagine it. Because its only intangible ideas, concepts, beliefs, fantasies that last. Stone crumbles. Wood rots. People, well, they die. But things as fragile as a thought, a dream, a legend, they can go on and on."

Chuck Palahniuk (American freelance journalist, satirist, and novelist - 1961)

(he also said, "Your heart is my pinata." - funny guy.)

Greatness!

"It is not my intention to do away with government. It is rather to make it work -- work with us, not over us; stand by our side, not ride on our back. Government can and must provide opportunity, not smother it; foster productivity, not stifle it."

- Ronald Reagan, First Inaugural Address, January 20, 1981

Perspective on freedom.

"...That to secure these Rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just Powers from the Consent of the Governed."

- Thomas Jefferson, Declaration of Independence, 1776

"I have sworn upon the altar of God, eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man."

- Thomas Jefferson
