Monday, while doing yard, I found three TINY birds shivering and hiding in my lawn.  I consulted the Humane Society and now, they're living in a Tupperware nest which is tied around the base of a pine tree.

They are finches.  Adorable, hungry finches.  I'm pretty sure their mommy is visiting their new nest (but I've never seen her).  I'll try and take more pictures, at least until they fly away.

I hope they make it.

Many years ago, we had a baby bird and called a bird rescue (I was in high school).

They stated that they fed the birds the Gains Burger dog food.

I don't know if that still stands, but I've done what you stated above too and unfortunately the bird didn't make it over night.

with the tupperware container, make sure water doesn't settle with this rain....

The Humane Society is GREAT for advise. We call them frequently..

every year I find some infant animal to save or help with the assistance of the humane society of southeast Wisconsin, last year was a two week old kitten and that tore at my heartstrings...I wish the finches the best of luck and success as they grow, and hope the mother bird blesses them with her care once again...thanks for reminding us all that we have a responsibility to those creatures that are not able to take care of themselves and kudos for the effort !...way to go !

I've poked holes in the tupperware. And it's filled with dried grass.

Also, the birds have been around since Monday. They seem to be doing well. Although, I haven't seen her, I know the mother is still taking care of them.

I found the birds dead this morning. My mom always says that mother nature is cruel...I don't know if that's true...but I am sad that the little guys held on through a bunch of crappy days only to die right before the warmer weather showed up
