Primary Logo, 1952-1960. Primary Logo for the Detroit Lions, 1952-1960. ©

(Taken from Wikipedia's History Of The Detroit Lions and being fairly used to make the following point):

Change can be good.

Lets not stop with the firing of Lions President/CEO/General Manager, Mr. Matt Millen, for doing a poor job. This front office move made a lot of fans happy, but at the end of the day, Millen wasn't on the field making plays.

Lets not stop with the purging of the team's mental attitude on the sidelines, field and lockerroom that is probably a big part of a losing record. Where's the passion from the players during a game and during interviews with the media? Even frustrated people can show some passion!

In addition to those things (and others), lets change the logo back to when it represented championship caliber.

Lets go real deep with change, even if it's retrospective change, as the Detroit Lions get a face lift so they will once again be contenders in the NFL like they were during the 1950's.

Remember Detroit Lions fans, the lion is truly the monarch of the jungle!

Go Lions!

I am recommending the Lions organization get a different logo. Perhaps go back to using the one used during the 1950's as I stated above in my post. Anything is better than the one currently being used.

The name of the lion on the current logo is "Bubbles". How can a logo with the name, Bubbles, represent a team of men who go out to play war on the gridiron each week? It's kind of like asking Bill Laimbeer to coach the Lions. Right now, Bill is coaching a women's team!

I have nothing against women. I love women. Tell me, though, does the name "Bubbles" have enough testosterone to represent a team of men playing in the NFL? Can a logo named, "Bubbles", represent a team of men, who need to become passionate about their livelihoods, the game of football?

Here's my definition of the term, "passionate NFL team player": Someone who lives, breathes, eats, drinks, sleeps and excretes footballs. Then picks up the excrement and either throws, kicks, punts or catches it like a football. That's the type of NFL environment that needs to be created for the Detroit Lions to once again become contenders for the superbowl.

Lets get a different logo. Purge and resurge!

Hi Mark!
I too want to know where "the passion from the players during a game" has gone. When I viewed game 3 I saw some of defensive ends standing near the sidelines when the receiver caught the ball. It was like, "don't just stand there in awe" of the opposing team's catch, tackle the receiver. The Lions have to restore the roar. Bubbles emanating from any body part(mouth) isn't strong enough. We need a jelled, strong loud roar against the Bears Oct. 5. The Bears defeated the Colts in regulation game 1 on Mon. Night Football this season. Across "the pond" comes the Bears paws ready to shred with bad, mean breath and probably a roar louder than our Lions.
True new leadership might encourage filtering down better playing if you believe in Reagonomics. If not, we have to depend on grassroots game plans, screen passes, play options, fakes, great defensive tackling, awesome QB passes, awesome receiver catches, no tolerance penalties, no interceptions, no sacks but aggressive, stellar offense and defense. This comes from the players, line coaches. Make the fans stand...
This is necessary before we assess a new logo. New game plans comes first.

Hi, Kathy.

Wow! I am impressed with your assessment of a team that needs to do some work, something different than what has been tried thus far.

I like your enthusiasm! You are a warrior!

Thanks....ROAR!!!
Watching last night's Eagles/Bears game it is my assessment that the Lions need to practice until they're perfect! Ha, Ha!
The Lions better execute more drives, completed passes, less interceptions, less penalties, more effective blocking, less sacks, and generally ingrain an attitude/aura of beating the Bears or they are simply...doomed.
The logo assessment is out there but the Lions regulation execution is what counts. That assessment concerns winning their first season game.
OK?

Beating the Bears this Sunday is very important.

Sports provides such a great escape from everyday problems. I love it!

Look for me on TV during the 10-26-08 game against the Redskins. I will have a 24" X 42" banner with the Lions 1950's logo on either side of the words, "Purge And Resurge".

That is around Halloween time I figure...fall colors, pumpkins, apples, healthy squash, cold football games etc. I like Washington and I always have.
Re: Game 4 Lions vs. Bears: Crucial
Last week-end I heard from my Bears fans friends who live near Milwaukee and adore all the Chicago teams. I was informed, reminded by these over 6'3" long time friends of mine who also love the Colorado Avananche as we used to go to Piston games when the "microwave" and team won and won... that the C. Cubs have made the play-offs, White Sox made the play-offs etc. They also stated that if Gr. Bay loses their QB( who is brittle according to them) that Gr. Bay will fall apart.
The Bears can win games with precision and determined execution which is exactly what I'd love to see our Lions have. "Practicing, Practicing," you know written by me. The Bear's weaknesses seem to be pass interceptions, out of bound passes, offside penalties, fumbles. Lions need to review both Colts vs. Bears, Bears vs. Carolina, Bears vs. Eagles tapes.
What detrimental chances would there be if Kitna wasn't starting GB for Detroit? Maybe start D. Henson, or Orlinsky(sp) R. Williams and other Lions receivers be sharp on the field or again Detroit will...etc. need to catch passes,(all)if not overthrown.
Final note here...the Bears are physical as J. Madden showed a visual of 11 Bears atop Panthers in red zone. The Bears can block, have great team coverage basically great defense, so keep in check along with slow drives that usually contain 3rd down conversions. Our Lions hopefully practice the plays kn

Lets have a little reality check here .
As long as old man Ford owns the team , the Lions will suck !
So then , what can we do ?
We can hire the hottest chearleaders in the country !
Yes , that's what I said !
Then , when we have hotter chearleaders than the Dallas Cowboys , we can use them as the new logo .
We will sell tickets [ to see the hotties ], as well as having some great looking atheletic back-up players for when the real players get hurt , or , break a nail [ yep , just throw a chearleader in , can't do any worse than what we have now . Besides , wouldn't you love to see a field goal kicked by a chearleader in a mini-skirt ? ]
Chearleaders pay won't affect the salary cap either .
Having a chearleader squad will also help to curb fans natural instincts to throw bottles and such toward the players during a game [ also helps on clean-up cost ]
