The Detroit Motor City Coney Island, owned and managed by Manny and mom, Patty, since 6-26-06, can be found at 19-D South Water Street, Henderson, Nevada 89015. Located in downtown Henderson, the coney island is about 15 miles from the Las Vegas strip.
Born and raised in Detroit, Patty, and son, Manny, moved to Nevada when daughter/sister, Michelle, earned a track scholarship to attend school in Nevada. The family also took with them their love for coney islands and some of the products that have made Detroit famous.
Products like Better Made Potato chips, Sanders Hot Fudge, Faygo and Vernors Soda and Dearborn Brand Meat to name a few.
Not only can a customer enjoy Detroit-based food items on the menu, there are numerous reminders of all the major Detroit sports teams hanging from the ceiling and on the walls. The Pistons, Red Wings, Lions, Tigers and Vipers are nicely acknowledged.
Patrons who are visiting the area from Michigan are encouraged to write their names on the inside walls as one way of claiming a piece of Michigan in the middle of the Nevada desert.
Manager, Patty, said of her love for coney islands, the city of Detroit and what she and her son aspire for their business, "I ate my first coney at Dooleys at Vernor Junction. I grew up on coneys. Hopefully, one day, we'll be as busy as Lafayette Coney Island"!
Best wishes for a prosperous mom-and-son-business-venture to manager, Patty and owner, Manny, of The Detroit Motor City Coney Island in Henderson, Nevada. My family and I enjoyed our two stops at your restaurant in July, 2008.
