This is one of my favorites from Ronald Reagan, and I must admit, I repeat it often!!!

Second fav:
Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases:
If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it!

From what I remember, many people, including former President Clinton, wanted President Clinton to run for a third term, even though two presidential terms is the limit. It's just how I felt about President Reagan. President Reagan was the one politician who really got me excited about politics!

Thanks for your comments, Mikey, Shock and Downinmich.

We, as a country, were prosperous under the Regan administration. I voted for him. I also voted for Clinton. And, there again, times were good. Bill Clinton is why I really wanted to see Hillary get the nomination. Now... I won`t vote for Obama and McCain just doesn`t do much for me either. But he is my only choice.

Stool...
Great post. I remember the Trust but Verify, Reagon comment. He was one of our greatest Presidents.
Prosperity and the electorate. My recall on prosperity has always been "Is my family fed, housed and do I have a reasonalble chance of advancement in my current employ". Most of the time spent in earning a living meets these criteria. If one is fortunate enough to excell, and to accumulate assets, they have prosperity. To a lot of folks, the daily bread on the table is prosperity, so the term is, as with all things, relative.
The idea of Meeting Everyones Needs, and a re distribution of what A has to B and C on a needs basis, is detrimental to prosperity. The concept of equality, carried to this level, subverts the motive to even work for ones daily bread. After all, A will provide, right?
Mr. Obama has a whole coterie of staffers ready and willing to implement this Soviet Style method of wealth distribution.
End

What bothers me is when someone gets punished for being rich. That's wealth redistribution. Go after the deep pockets because that's what lawyers are taught to do. Most politicians are lawyers first.

Class ENVY could be classified as one of the 7 deadly sins just like the GREED it takes to want to earn more money. A more reasonable tax system needs to be set-up so Americans aren't punished for their achievements in becoming wealthy.
