For people who think the Bush tax cuts are only for the rich, consider this: If the Bush tax cuts do not continue after they expire, a family of four with an annual household income of $50,000.00 will pay $2,500.00 more per year in taxes. That's about $220.00 per month. The Bush tax cuts are helping anybody who has gainful employment and pays taxes.

Obama says he will not financially penalize the middle class, only the rich. Why is there so much animosity for people who have achieved wealth in our country? Why does being rich need to be punished? I don't get it. Are people mad at rich people because there's a stereotype that rich people are snobs? Not all rich people are snobs. Some have a sense of entitlement, but so do some people in all classes.

I, for one, have a different definition for real wealth. It's not based on how much money I earn. Real wealth is being content with what I have. This could mean acknowledging the value of my family, friends, social network, having the freedom to express my opinions on Fox 2 blogs, my ability to work and earn a livelihood, etc.

Why punish people who have more money than me? From where is the anger coming? Why punish the family of four with a household income of $50,000.00 by letting the Bush tax cuts expire?

Your ideology is both biblical and utopian. Fortunately, those things can't be taxed. I don't 'hate' the rich, but as I've said on other posts, to whom much is given, much is expected. That's the way I see it!

Obama wants to do away with class. He wants to bring the poor and povery up, the rich and wealthy down.

All in all he wants to put the Black Liberation theology to work.

He wants to nationaize business and industry.
More eaisly to hand over to whom he wants.

National Health care, same with the company that handles this. He will give it to whom he wants or set people up in it.

He has all the koolaid drinkers to help him do it.

Only in America can a man who is merely a speech be so close to being President of the United States.

A Great Orator incorporates Mind conditioning and mind manipulation techniques into those speeches, with great reinforcement catch phrases and slogans and techniques. He can do anything.

He makes Hitler look like a chump.

No wonder he needs and spends so much money.

Fair enough, Pipper. I have a natural curiosity about the underlying motivation of people's behavior. I could be out in right field when I say it looks like anger is driving some camps to punish rich people, and I could be wrong. But, hate is different than anger.

Seah, I agree with you that Obama has some excellent speaking skills, but I'm still not convinced they'll translate to action. As good as he speaks, still no comparison to the Great Communicator, Ronald Reagan.

November will be a "pocketbook" election. The candidate (Obama or McCain) who does the better job at convincing people how we can save money will win, i.e. (taxes, gasoline prices, the economy, etc.)

The wealthy obvioulsy worked for what they have, which is what we all should do if we want a piece of the pie. The problem is, no one wants to work. If it weren't for the rich, there would be no jobs. Do you think the Gov, is going to give you that too? Not without a price, which is our freedom to choose. The rich will escape having money taken from them, they are obviously smart people to get where they are. What's going to happen to the donations they give that go to worthy causes? Wouldn't that be biting the hand that feeds you?

StooltimeCounseling, SOUNDS FAIR TO ME! Sdparker, there are millions of people all across this country that work very hard each and every day for what they have, as well. "The rich will escape having money taken from them." THEREINLIES THE PROBLEM! Don't kid yourself, everything they give they get a large percentage back at tax time. OH, they won't stop DONATING! In fact, they go around LOOKING FOR CHARITIES (another loophole in the tax system)!

Also, StooltimeCounselor, taxing the wealthiest citizens is not so much about socialism as it is about having enough money to do the business of the people, such as health care, decent schools, social security, infrastructures, etc. etc.

Pipper, let me ask you this: If health care should be provided by the government by way of our tax dollars, why should we stop there? Everybody needs a house, too. Should our tax dollars also pay for a house for everybody? Where do we stop paying for things for everybody because somebody thinks it's our right to have them? The right to have health care is not in the constitution even though health care is very important. Why should tax payers be paying 50% of their paychecks to give everybody health care? Most people already pay over 30% of their paychecks to provide services to the community.

I have no problem agreeing with you that we need all the services you list (schools, infrastructure, etc.). I just don't agree that our taxes need to be raised to pay for them all.

I think the libertarians are on to something because they support what is called a fair tax. It's a tax paid by the consumer, based on consumption. You buy something, you pay an extra tax for it. In that way, everybody is contributing to taxes in a fair way. The fair tax also gets rid of the IRS and the national income tax. There go the loopholes for the rich at tax time.

i pose the question what is rich, rich is when your money work for you poor is when you work for your money.the rich got rich because they have the poor working for them. while they get tax breaks and other entittlement. the working people who help them make their money gets nothing. when you ask for a raise because you earn it. the manager or owner of a business says they can not afford it or it will drive cost up if you pay me $10 dollar instead of $6. i realize its not a crime to be rich. i believe when you can afford to pay more or help out more you should. its mush easier for a person making say $ 1 million a year to pay $300,000 in taxes than for a person making $40 to $50 thousand to pay $10,000 in taxes. the system is not set up to fair it just set up.

"i pose the question what is rich, rich is when your money work for you poor is when you work for your money".

I like how you defined "rich" vs. "poor", using how much money a person owns as a standard, fgeason.

Do you believe the following statement?

All people are created equal. What happens after that is a personal choice.

stooltimecounseling. i believe all people are created equal under god but by the world standard you are not. i believe certain family with money get away with certain things than a less fortunate family would. if o.j was not rich he would have been found guilty of murder but he was not because of his money.
(what happens after that is a person choice.) so if i am bill gates and die. i leave all my billion to my children. they are instantly rich and had no personal choice in the matter.

do you believe you can do all the right things make all the right choices and still fall short

the standard the world use to define rich or poor is by how much money a person have.this is why i chose money to descripe rich or poor.

you are only crated equal by gods standards as being human being living, breathing creatures.
after that its the world choice not a personal choice. sometimes your surrounding
dictates to you what you can do or not. it may not be a personal choice of mine to work at a certain place but to pay my bills i have to do things i may not want to do. a peronal choice sometimes may not be your choice at all.

It's quite simple. If you work, you're rich. Maybe you've heard the lyrics, "Tax the rich, feed the poor, till there are no, rich no more." Who do you think they'll target then? Look at history. Know of any successful Socialist/Communist regimes?
