Did you read about the New York Giants wide receiver Plaxico
Burress? Last night he “accidentally”
shot himself in the leg. My main
question, why is this NFL star playing with guns?
Even though his stats aren’t great this year his salary
is. You figure that a combination of
career, money, ability, trainers, and more would keep him out of trouble. NOT!
He’s been guilty of inappropriate comments on officiating (fined $20K),
unsportsmanlike conduct/verbal abuse of an official (fined $20K), and throwing
a football in the stands (fined $5K). It
must be nice to throw $45K away.
By not participating at a mandatory mini-camp for the NY Giants, he risked
losing $8,600 per day. This isn’t too
smart mainly since he just signed a $25M 6 year contract…for PLAYING a
sport.
Here’s my challenge to fellow bloggers, what sports stars
have been fined or lost money because of their stupidity? Yeah, Vick will be heavily commented on, how
much did he lose? Another challenging
question, who knows some name Plaxico?
LOL – can’t wait to hear from you!
The St. Louis Cardinals may
be getting another slugger in their lineup.
Is Matt Holliday worth the price to create more havoc with
opposing pitchers? Here are some of the
statistics and salary numbers for each player:
The Cards will have to pay Holliday anywhere from $10
million to $13 million for one year then he becomes a free agent – this could
mean MORE money.
Ludwick on the other hand will become a free agent after the
2011 season. So, the Cards could virtually
save around $9 million each year until late 2011.
Here’s the way I look at it – if Ludwick performs like he did in 2008 then why gamble.
Yes, Holliday is a “name brand” player but the ultimate goal is
production. Ludwick played in more games
and had better numbers overall and at Wal-Mart prices!
What is your opinion on this possible acquisition?
Ok fellow bloggers - I need help re-lacing a baseball glove. I have googled and googled and found nothing that is helpful.
I would like to find a step by step video if possible. So, if any bloggers out there has this knowledge please post the video.
I did find some information on the EHelp site but it really didn't show me the roadmap (weave) of the laces. Thanks.
LPGA says speak English by 2009!

The LPGA requires all member golfers to speak English.
Players were told by LPGA commissioner Carolyn Bivens that
by the end of 2009, all players who have been on the tour for two years must
pass an oral evaluation of their English skills or face a membership
suspension. Hey, it’s about time. This should be done in every sport and every
job in the United States. If you do not speak the language (English)
then either learn how to do so or get the heck out.
This new “law” will take effect in late 2009. I’d like to see this happen in every
professional sport. Could you imagine
the MLB interviews then – we could actually understand what the heck some are
saying. I just wonder what Ichiro says
in Japanese after a strikeout - NOTHING - because he seldom strikes out!
Let me hear it – good/bad/ugly – BRING IT!

What happened to the Cardinals tonight? Will the Cards win the Wild Card? Etc....etc...
I want to hear your input and good discussion on what is in store for the Cardinals for the remainder of 2008. Whether it be talking about an excellent outing (18-3 win) or a 12-0 loss - your opinions are wanted.
Yes, we'll see some whiners on here and yes some know-it-alls but BRING IT so we can state our objections!
Hey guys – it’s summer and that means you’ll see many boys
and girls playing baseball or softball.
Some are Parks and Recreation leagues while others are Select leagues –
both are competitive and fun to watch.
If you have free time on a given day/evening go out and
support your local team. Every seat is a
cheap seat. And, if you are a company
looking to sponsor a team, talk to a coach and he/she will tell you what they
need.
It’s all about SUPPORTING our youth. Yes, I know baseball isn’t the only thing
that happens during the summer … but it is for us!
Please post any tournament dates for the blogging community.
Barry Bonds is now proving that he is not worthy of being in the Baseball Hall of Fame (BHF). His latest cries are dealing with his steroid use (oh alleged) and the "asterisk". He says that he will boycott his induction event if the baseball that goes into the BHF has an asterisk.
Hey Barry - get a clue dude. You've placed yourself in this situation and under numerous occasions have lied about steroid use and creams that you didn't know had similar effects? LOL - and your buddy is still in prison because he won't rat you out?
Barry Bond's best societal function would be to retire, shut up, and kiss his mirror! He's been a bad example for the game for 10 years now and we need to wipe the slates clean. He's trying everything to sway the BHF and thank God he hasn't used race as an issue. Let's get back to basics where kids enjoyed watching the game, families could afford to attend more than 1 per year, and the only crying was done by fans who had to leave after all the excitement!
Barry Bonds got fired! Hey, maybe it's time to retire? LOL - nope...thou ego still exists and he needs about 65 more hits to surpass the 3,000 mark. Isn't it amazing that someone with 762 homers doesn't have 3,000 hits by now?
The Giants told Bonds that they do not want him in 2008. Bonds in the past 12 months actually entertained an idea to come to St. Louis. If Barry Bonds comes to St. Louis; folks...we need to saturate the Cardinals website and email addresses with our loud voices...NO!
The Cardinals and St. Louis have been the best baseball fans/town for years. We cannot taint our reputation by even entertaining the thoughts of bringing Bonds here. So, St. Louis Cardinal fans it's time to speak out...we are drug free....JUST SAY NO to Barry Bonds!
McNabb Crying Racism?

LOL - ok, first it's the St. Louis firefighters crying over a test that's equal to all. Now, you have Donovan McNabb claiming that black quarterbacks are criticized a lot more than white quarterbacks? Get outta here! He refers to Peyton Manning not being criticized as much ... you wanna know why ......he's BETTER than you are McNabb! Your Eagles are 0-2 while the Colts are 2-0 so critics will talk.
Stop using the racecard as your scapegoat and start throwing completions! I think you need to look at who is losing and see that when this happens you get ripped! Maybe it's because you're bringing in a $5.5million (2005 figure) and not performing.
Get over it...!
Rick Ankiel allegedly took the now banned substance called HGH. That’s Human Growth Hormones. If he supposedly took this supplement in 2004 and the league banned its use in 2005 – you do the math. Did he finish his last pill the day before the ban took effect? Test ALL active players NOW for drugs (THD, HGH, Cocaine, etc) and if anyone tests positive then go through the MLB’s law on drug use and move on.
Is it just because the guy is slamming the ball? He was an excellent hitter when he pitched for the Cardinals. I believe I remember a game where he slapped 2 homers out while being the winning pitcher. MLB – and whoever is complaining – stop the rhetoric and test every active player then do your “attrition”. I betcha Ankiel and Bonds will test negative! That was very difficult for me to say because I hate Bonds.
Was that little squirrel the other night on HGH?
Go Cards !!!

Do the Cardinals want to go to the playoffs? I predict they'll not only be swept by the Pirates but totally humiliated. With Wells pitching it's like Reyes and little league again. We need at least 8 runs per game with twice that amount in hits.
It won't happen - LaRussa tends to leave the bad pitchers (Reyes/Wells) in too long and we are working from a 3 or 4 run deficit. We cannot win by playing catch up baseball. The Cubs will take the Central and our boys of summer can sit at home and watch the playoffs on their plasmas.
Let me hear it...
No smoking at Busch Stadium

The no smoking ban at Busch Stadium is excellent. I know that this has been blogged on many times but someone just isn't listening. We were at the comeback victory game on August 22 against the Marlins when I witnessed these poor soles sneeking a puff. Yep - in the men's bathroom some dudes that could not refrain from puffing outside the gates had to inhale their cigs. LOL - it was funny yet sad.
Before all you smokers attempt an attack on me for wanting clean air please be advised that I did not create the no smoking law in Busch - I just support it. Luckily I only had to pee once therefore exposed myself to cigarette stinch one time. Please be considerate of others and smoke in designated areas (preferrably inside your car with windows up). Thanks.

Cards Need Guidance

It's apparent now that someone needs to step in and manage the Cardinals. You don't keep a pitcher in for that long. He's (Maroth) pitching little league pitches and of course you've seen what happened tonight - 10 earned runs in 4 innings? Wow. It's a combination of bad pitching and terrible managing. We need to dump LaRussa and his staff and put Girardi in charge and see what happens. Yeah, Eck, Edmonds, Rolen, Izzy, and few more may leave but we'll be just fine. With that freed up money we can get an A-Rod who'll be on the auction block soon and some quality relievers.
It's tough being a Cardinal fan for this many years (nearly 42) and see so many earned runs in one inning or the entire game. Shut it down guys!
Cardinals Problems

Here we are again – Cards are stinking and no one is looking at the skipper? This is Wainwrights second terrible outing. Last night he gave up 8 runs in 2.2 innings while the other outing he gave up 7 runs in one inning. Looper gives up 4 runs in one inning. This is a management problem, when you see a pitcher throwing little league style pitches – REMOVE HIM FROM THE GAME. LaRussa is back to his old tricks of allowing these overpaid brats to run up the score and then our Cards shoot for a 9th inning comeback? The only way for St. Louis to win is…..fire LaRussa……and LaRussa, you’re FIRED!
Barry "The Juice" Bonds

I do not like Barry Bonds. The guy has never been liked by his teammates. When he comes to St. Louis he has to get a separate limo most of the time and he's always fighting with his teammates.
This guy is the posterboy for "steroids". I know it's difficult to check/test the retired players but how bout this basketball head clown that can bunt a homerun? See prior statements..
Ok, a lot has been said about players using steroids in baseball. We have heard people cry that McGwire under oath with Congress not resolve the Yes or No answer we all wanted to hear. It will never be proven that recent retirees used steroids. We need to focus on the current players. Two of great interest are Carlos Beltran (quick buff job) and Barry Bonds. Barry Bonds is the worst offender; not only did his body buff up tremendously but he's a Bloated Batter (walking human bobblehead). Along with the normal signs of steroid use (muscles) comes narcissism, acne, arrogance to others, other symptoms including sexual inpropriety (ask his wife on that one). LOL - well, MLB needs to come down hard on the steroid abuse. These players are not taking the typical anabolic steroid but rather visiting the local vet for the horse steroid injection. It's virtually nontraceable and can give the same effects as anabolics. MLB and the Commish - do what you are paid to do - control the players! NOTE: Barry Bonds head doesn't even fit in the screen when on tv! Can you tell that I don't care for Bonds? Thanks.
