Is it time for Millen to go?

By now, you've heard the comments of Detroit Lions Vice Chairman Bill Ford Jr.
He thinks the team isn't living up to expectations, and if it were up to him, he'd make changes including the firing of Matt Millen.
What do you think?
Is it time for William Clay Ford to pull the trigger and start new?
Or should the team stick to its plan?

Last Days of Tiger Stadium

The Detroit News and Free Press reported Wednesday that crews have begun to erect a demolition fence around Tiger Stadium, although no final demolition day has been set.
So, what do you think?
Is is about time that the old park comes down?
Or should be a last push to save the structure?
While Detroit is still celebrating the Red Wings
victory, the folks at ESPN are trying to ruin our fun. They wrote an open
letter telling Detroiters to enjoy this cup well, because they foresee a rocky
road for the city’s sports for a while.
Their letter goes from saying the
Tigers are just “treading water” to taking shot at the Pistons, Lions, Michigan and Michigan
State Football and even the Detroit Shock. According to the letter, "if
you're a Detroit
fan, savor the present the future just doesn't seem to hold much promise."
The letter takes a serious stab at
the city of Detroit
itself, so what gives??
What do you think??
Does ESPN really have sufficient evidence to make such a statement?
Are we really in for a rocky period
in the Best Sports
City of America?

Flip's Out - Right Move?

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) -- The Detroit Pistons say Flip Saunders won't be back next season after leading the team to three straight Eastern Conference finals appearances.
The team made the announcement Tuesday in a news release with president of basketball operations Joe Dumars saying he feels it is necessary to make a change despite Saunders' successes.
In his three seasons, the Pistons were 176-70 in the regular season and 30-21 in the postseason, but they lost in the conference finals each year.
Saunders had a year left on a four-year deal that he signed in 2005. He replaced Larry Brown, who won a title in two trips to the NBA Finals.
What's your take?
Is this the right move for the Pistons?

Goodbye Rasheed Wallace. Time to get a big man who can post up consistently. He has mad skills, but shooting threes does not get it done and puts smaller players in a position to have to rebound.
3 straight losses in the Eastern Conference Finals. The time has come to make changes.
What changes would you make to this team?

But we like slam dunks.
What do you think of John Kitna's prediction that the Lions will win 10 games this season? No, this is not a repeat of last year's blog. He predicted it again.

Detroit Tigers broadcasting legend Ernie Harwell turns 90 years young today. Use this blog to send him your birthday wishes and we'll send them off to him.
The Mitchell Report will be released today and upwards of 80 Major League Baseball players, current and former, are reported to be outed as using performance-enhancing drugs.
Questions to ponder:
Will this report generate any change in baseball?
Will it tell anything we didn't know (or assume) already?
Does this change your opinion of the sport as a fan?
Was this report worth the reported $25-$60M that is cost to generate?

Hart vs. Dantonio

Next year's Michigan - Michigan St. game is already shaping up to be a good one.
Senior running back Mike Hart commented that the Spartans were like Michigan's 'little brother' following the Wolverines 28-24 victory in East Lansing Saturday.
This comment led quite the verbal tongue lashing from Spartans head coach Mark Dantonio.
"Does Hart have a little brother? Or is he the little brother?"
Dantonio said when asked about the comments. Dantonio then held out his
hand to indicate Hart's height, which is listed at 5-foot-9 by the
Wolverines.
"They need to check themselves sometimes," Dantonio said Monday when asked about the Wolverines'
postgame behavior. "Just remember, pride comes before the fall."
So what do you make of all this?
Does Mike Hart look classless for these remarks? Or should Dantonio not respond to an opposing player's joking comments following a victory and focus on trying to clinch a bowl berth?
Let's hear what you think in this 'Sound Off' blog.
