Right now, the Obama campaign is debating whether or not the presidential candidate should call for Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick to step down. Some Democrats are worried the Republicans will try to link Obama to the mayor, and indeed, the senator did have some kind things to say about Kilpatrick before his legal troubles started.

So what do you think? Would it would be a wise move for Obama to call for Kilpatrick's resignation, or should he stay away from the issue altogether? Whether you're an Obama supporter or not, do you think this is a necessary part of attracting undecided Michigan voters, or does Detroit's mayoral mess really have nothing to do with him and his campaign for president?

Sound off below...

I agree pslitty and Obama should do it soon seeing as Kilpatrick has plans on attending the convention. Isn`t he a super delegate or something?

He won`t qualify for a pension for another 2-3 yrs. Most logical reason he`s hanging on is to pay his legal bills and use whatever clout he has left to get him through the court cases.

Kilpatrick has been un-invited to the convention, same as Edwards. I do agree though this could be the ticket for him being forced to resign...or at least make Jenny do it

Obama has to debate whether or not to call for Kilpatricks resignation. This is truly a decisive leader. If he takes the same amount of time to make the call as he did distancing himself from a openly racist pastor, Kilpatrick will be out of jail. It`s not like this is a tough call.

Obama is only an Illinois Jr. Senator. Other than an opinion on this matter, his involvment is foolish. Regarding Granholm's comment, didn't she compare her Republican opponent Dick DeVos to President Bush during her re-election ads? Yes, she did. I consider Granholm a hypocrite. Just as Kilpatrick, granholm can not be trusted. Both of them have proven this over and over again. Why the Michigan people do not see this, I can't figure out. I guess they want to be lead around on a leash.

Isay,

You nailed it! Why I left the state, hence the screen name. Most of the people of Michigan are afraid of change. They're afraid of getting educated knowing that they were going to lose their jobs. The writing was on the wall 20 years ago that the automotive jobs were going away. Most see Democrat and they will be saved, well look in the last 5 years in Michigan, what have they done for you? From the local level to the Federal level. Yeah Bush didn't do the country well in the last few years, but it has gotten worse since 2006. I want to know what happened to promises from Nancy Pelosi?
Who cares what Obama thinks about Detroit's situation, what his he going to do about it? If he does decide or to way in, it will take him a few days, because he doesn't know how to make a decision in a timely matter.

Hey KK is a Super Delegate and Judge Thompson wants him to go to the Democratic Convention. Wow, I know that the GOP and Media will have a field day with this one. Can you see the headline now "Detroit Thug Mayor Backs Obama". We can't wait to send this to all the medias!!!

When the leaders of the Democratic Party in Michigan decided to change the date of the preliminary election, once again the only people who were truly penalized was the average taxpayer. I became annoyed with Obama’s clear ploy to address the needs of the taxpayers of Detroit with a massive lecture, not the town hall meeting which he has afforded some many others. Obama is not in support of the people, but in support of himself and his friends. It is almost outrageous to deny one of your own attendance to the national convention because it might bring adversity. I mean really with the thing that just happened in Arkansas, the number of women/voters who feel disenfranchised because it appears he refuses to nominate Hillary as his running mate; does one really believe it would be a distraction for the Mayor to attend. Maybe he is not ready to lead.

Who wants a defendant standing close to you when the most important life changing, history changing event is going on. Black, White, Purple, Red who cares. I just wouldn't go so i can spare myself, children & wife from the harshness that's about to come. (if he can go) LOL. Judge Giles is firm on his decision. I respect a Judge (man) like him. He is not letting a title rule. Yes ladyonthemove, it would very much be an distraction. And if you don't see it, you're very much blind too.

Don't believe that Obama wants to be quoted as saying anything about the resignation of KK. He is in another catagory of leadership and separate from the locals here. It would be in Obamas best interest to not have KK at the convention. Kwame would overshadow the event similar to the Rev. White episode. The party surely does not want that to happen. The focus is on Obama, not KK...

For Barack Obama: Eight Questions

Posted: 15 Aug 2008 09:52 AM CDT

By Matthew I. Weaver | The Problem With Obama

While most folks accept that Obama was born in the U.S. of an American mother, it is increasingly suggestive that he may have shared Kenyan citizenship from his father, then when his mother remarried, was adopted and became an Indonesian citizen. In the latter, a school record clearly lists his citizenship as Indonesian. This would seem consistent with his adoption and the family move to Indonesia.

Obama has not addressed this. His offered birth certificate is being questioned by a number of folks who claim it is a forgery. It is suggested that his original birth certificate was sealed and replaced by a new one upon his adoption and move to Indonesia. It is suggested that in addition to his new name, Barry Soetoro, his adopted father and his mother changed his citizenship to Indonesia. Surely there will be records of this somewhere but I’ve yet to see anything beyond the notes about the sealed original birth certificate, the new one, a copy allegedly issued in 2007, an original that Obama wrote he held, and comments about the adoption in 1965 or 1966. I have not seen anything definitive on any of this to show it is anything more than speculation.

So when did he Legally change his name back to Obama after he was adopted by his stepfather?

I need your help: directions please.
How many employees are abuse verbally and controlled on the Job because employers feel that there are no jobs available in Michigan especially Detroit.

I work for ECS Partnership (McDonalds) as a shift manager for the past year and a half. I asked for two personal days off. I was told if I wasn't dying or in the hospital that I better be at work. After two days of text abuse I informed them that I would not be returning. This was last week. I thought this was unfair since I have faithfully worked for these guys.

Thanks be to God I got a new job this week, I told them last week I would not be returning, now they wait until today (payday) to say I can't get my check if I don't do an exit interview. I just wonder if everyone knows how they mess over the minors, cheat on their pay and talk so abusive to their employees, yes especially the minors because they think we are trapped. I am investigating what the laws say about employers taking money unauthorized out of the employees checks and if anyone out their has any advice, I would appreciate it
