DETROIT -- A judge has ruled that Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick didn't violate bond conditions in an assault case by visiting his sister, who is one of the witnesses listed by authorities.

Judge Ronald Giles presided Tuesday morning when a prosecutor argued that Kilpatrick violated his bond conditions by spending time with his sister last weekend.

Giles had sent the mayor to jail last week in a separate perjury case. Giles agreed with the mayor's attorneys that the no-contact order didn't include Ayanna Kilpatrick.

A few things to comment on here:

Was Judge Giles correct in his ruling?
Was the AG's office splitting hairs in bringing this to court in the first place?
Did anyone else notice the mayor's wife made an appearance in court?

Ifeel that the judicial system is a joke at times and it only works if you have money. Please get rid of this bum asap. Why is he trying so hard to keep this position? I know why because once he is gone then it is time to clean house and his entire clan will be out on their butts. I feel that Judge Giles tries to apease each side from day to day. Even Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, and the Three blind mice can see he is guilty as hell. My wish is that they pick me to be a juror. Then playing the family man is a little to late Kwame. He has Carlita looking like a fool.

Yes Judge Giles was correct in his ruling.

If people are actually nieve enough to think that his sister is gonna help convict him, they need help.

The most important thing in this world is family.

I'm no fan of the mayor, but I think this was a proper ruling.

The fact that this motion was made by the AG only goes to support the idea that this is a "witch hunt."
These ridiculous proceedings are not helping anything. If you want the defense team, as well as the defendant, to continue to play the race card, keep this up.
This takes away from the real facts of the situation. The more trivial motions are filed, bringing the mayor into the physical court, the more the situation goes in the direction that all of the mayors supporters are suggesting. A direction that the focus is no longer on the charges at hand, but rather the idea that the mayor is being deliberately targeted.
The fact of the matter is that he did lie, he did cost the city millions, and he is a young, greed-struck man that should have stepped down a long time ago. Whether these actions are proven in a court of law does not matter at this point.
Lets not turn this into something it is not.
And people wonder why the mayor will not resign, for petes sake, we are giving him the bat to beat "us" (media & spectators) with.

I am a single black voting citizen of the city of Detroit and I am ashamed of how far he can go to try and save his job. Eliot Spitzer resigned why not Kwame Kilpatrick. We know that the Detroit Police Department is corrupt from the top to the bottom. They are the ones that helped Kwame cover up the Tamara Greene case. I had a friend tell me about the party years ago after it happened and before it ever hit the news. Urban legend my butt. She was and still is afraid to talk to anyone about it. You know Kwame and his sister and the EPU got together their story about the case. We need a change now. I voted for Kwame once when he first got in never again since then. Governor Granholm please remove the Mayor you have nothing to lose you are not running for re election and this is what most of the citizens of the city want let alone the entire state.

Judge Giles made the right decision. If the mayor has to be in court constantly then there is more fuel to support the idea that he cannot perform his duties as the mayor. This in turns supports a altogether different perception of what the priorities of the case should be.
Whether we support/do not support the mayor we all should agree that this takes that perception to a whole new level. We are giving the mayor and his legal team more gas to put on a fire that only serves to distract us from the real legal issue. Clouding the public view by allowing moral and ethical issues to take presidence over the legal issues is what helps to hinder the city from moving forward.

I do not support KK in any way, shape or form.
I do however think that Judge Giles was right on this ruling.
No matter what KK has pulled, he does have the right to his family. Unless the family has been a victim. Which they have not.
I am just anxious to see what our Govenor does onth 3rd.

My point exactly hucksboat. Anyone can see that the AG is trying to micro-manage the situation. This motion was absurd and whether you are a supporter or not, this cannot be denied.
Mike Cox is making headlines and promoting a racially-based campaign for all the supporters with blinders on to utilize. This is starting to suggest that "the man" is indeed trying to oust the mayor.
Give me a break. While I don't doubt that some very backwoods thinking people in positions of power (and yes, they exist) may want him out of office, the reality of his legal woes are just that, legal woes.

I believe the judge's ruling is correct. You can't keep family apart. Unless Ayanna felt threatened by her brother, they should both be able to see each other.

Understandably it could taint the case, because they will probably discuss it amongst themselves, but I am sure they talked it out even before this weekend.

And it's about time his wife was there! Was she not at all his other cases? You would think, at the last time we heard from her, which I believe was that public announcement at the church with her and Kilpatrick, she said, ".... there is no doubt that I LOOOOOVE my husband..." then where's the love? She should be there at every case showing her LOOOOOVE and support. But I could be wrong... maybe she is there in disguise to ashamed to show face maybe?

I think it was a smart move for Carlita to be in court. Finally, some support from his wife that will lead many to believe that maybe he is beginning to crack under pressure. This perhaps will show that this situation should be taken seriously. I would expect nothing less from Carlita. There are different perceptions with this, depending on your feelings. Kwames arrogance appears to have been slightly diminished, though.
Yes, the mayor put himself in this situation, but when frivilous actions are taken by the AG or the prosecutors office, it takes something important away from the real issues. The legal process has to play out.

I agree hucksboat. The AG'S office needs to pick their battles or otherwise lose credibility. It amazes me how such a reputable attorney like Baker got su%ked into something that weak!

I think the ruling was fair. But KK needs to go somewhere and SIT DOWN. He’s being monitored by tether and they know is every move. So why do he continue to give these people something to talk about. I think he likes the “SPOTLIGHT” If I was his wife, I would sit back too. After all, he did this to himself. He wasn’t worried about her when he did his dirt……..WHAT LOVE GOT TO DO WITH IT!! And I’m tired of his BS hogging the TV and radio stations. Every time you look up there’s Breaking News!!!! He’s embarrassed us enough………TAKE A BOW!!!

This just goes to show how corrupt not only the leaders like KK are corrupt, but also the courts. Judge Giles should be totally thrown off the bench by his decision. His remarks about how the police are suppose to act had Kwame smiling because he feels that he will get off because he is above the law.

If you think for one second that he will not cavort with his family about how they must lie in court to protect each other, than you definately need help.

This just goes to show how Kim Worthy was right in trying to get these corrupt judges off this case.

I say to get rid of all the jerks in the city. This city is a total joke and to have this goofy criminal thug at it's head, only goes to show how stupid the entire city of Detroit is if they allow him to continue.

LOL-I bet you didn't want him thrown off the bench when he sent Kwame to jail, huh?
See things for what they are. And no, I do not support the mayor.

Giles was correct.

Cox knew he didn`t violate..just trying to pad his newly fabricated for public consumption hard ball image.

Carlita looked so fakey. It looked like she was trying too hard and was fully aware the cameras were on her. Last hearing KK brought his kids into it for sympathy......this time the wifey pooh. Barf. Next it will be Mama Cheeks showing up to flex her ill gotten political muscle....

Yes, I believe Judge Giles ruling was correct and of course Kuame's every move is being monitored.
I was surprised to see his wife in court with him today. She may be called as a witness in the Tamara Green murder. Even though this party at the mansion is "alledged" apparently there are witnesses documenting otherwise. Also, her part in attacking the dancer(s) at the party will probably be examine during the court process in that case.
Kuame and Carletta may be in the same "Soup" - Time will tell !!
