A judge has ruled that Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick be released from jail, pay a $50,000 cash bond, wear an electronic tether and not be allowed to travel.

Wayne County Circuit Judge Thomas Jackson made the decision Friday, altering the ruling of a Detroit district court judge who ordered the mayor to jail a day earlier for violating the terms of his bond.

Do you think the judge made the right decision?

Why didn't the prosecutors get the proof of Mayor of Windsor's statement that he did not call our Mayor for an Emergency Meeting and that Kwame was lying AGAIN to the courts. He just needs to go, how embarrasing....

And could we remove most of the City Council.... They are just as Pathetic and need to go. Actually let's not stop there... Let's just start over and remove all of Kwame's appointee's since they are just friends and family and not qualified for the positions that he gives them... Then everyone wonders what's wrong with our city.

Over the past few months it has been frustrating with the attention to Kwame's actions but I supported him as Mayor. That is OVER! He has to go and if the Governor expects my support (like she cares if she has it) in the future she needs to act NOW and not wait until September 3. When his arrogance, disrespect for the courts and shananigans are getting more INTERNATIONAL media attention than the PGA Tour that is right here in Michigan, then it is time to get rid of him. He has been embarassing Detroit as well as his wife and family but now he is adding to Michigan's state problems. Michigan has enough with the faltering auto industries, housing market and explosive unemployment. Michgan does not need Kwame Kilpatrick adding slime to the state. He is now outside of Detroit in his damage and Governor Granholm needs to act now. If he had any true love for Detroit (as he claims to) he would be man enough to step down just to keep from hurting the city any further. But he keeps hurting his wife and family so why should the city expect any more from him. Please Governor, do not wait until Sept 3! Stop this maniac now!

the judge should have set a 200,000 bond, and let him sit in jail until the trial...after all, Kandia ...a former coach can run the city...Rah,Rah !!!!

Gary95 is right too........City Council is just as embarassing and immature. There is not one of them that I would trust to make a decision based on what is best for Detroit! They all are determined not to agree with the Mayor or one another. If he wants vanilla she wants chocolate even if she hates chocolate. They are all pitiful representative of a great city with great people!

How many other mayors tie up their local news coverage with as much scandal as Kwame. Killers are on the streets of Detroit and we get to read about our mayor pushing an officer, lying, cheating, and all the other scandals that he is behind. What about the family's that are grieving and need the media's help to find their sons our daughters kiler. This city needs to get past this yesterday and should have never been put in this position in the first place.

AS LONG AS THE LAW WAS FOLLOWED I DON'T CARE IF HE'S OUT. HE SHOULD ENJOY THE FREEDOM NOW BECAUSE IT MAY BE AWHILE AFTER THE TRIAL.

And what kind of business meeting is that going to be sporting a tether on his ankle...
Yeah, I would do business with him.
What's that?
Oh that, nothing, it's an amplifier for my cell phone. I wasn't getting calls in my office because of the steel beams. This solved the problem, I'm a problem solver. Now about doing business here. How many of my family and friends will you hire?

I don't know why the circuit judge reduced the fine...however, I am glad that he is making K.K. wear a teather. K.K. should've been restricted in his travel to begin with, he simply CAN NOT be trusted!! K.K. you need to resign now so the city & it's citizens can begin with the healing process.

The King is being dethroned! He thinks he is some sort of Lord and he can do whatever he wants. The question was posed, " is it arrogance or lack of common sence." The Answer is, Arrogance causes lack of common sence. He is dirty and a blot on the name of Detroit. I hope he doesn't get a slap on the wrist with a fine of $2,000.00. This guy needs to have his pride stripped from him. Also is it true he getts benefits for life paid by the city of Detroit if he is in office for a certain period of time? I heard until december is all he needs. Lets unload this burden already and move on.

With these new charges, assult on a police officer, that should also be a bond violation because the original bond restrictions stated "NO CONTACT WITH THE LAW". He should be put back in jail until his trial just like anyone else would have been.

Shame on Judge Thomas Jackson to say that Judge Giles went to far in putting Kwami in jail. I am tired of elected officials, or movie stars or anyone with power getting preferential treatment. The messages being sent to our children these days is just outrageous. Our corrupt Federal Officials in the Bush administration should also be held accountable for their crimes.
