The Detroit News and Free Press reported Wednesday that crews have begun to erect a demolition fence around Tiger Stadium, although no final demolition day has been set.

So, what do you think?
Is is about time that the old park comes down?
Or should be a last push to save the structure?

I think that the old Detroit Tigers Stadium should stay up due to all the memories at the old stadium.

This demolition should have happened 10 years ago. It’s a 100+ year old useless waste of space. You don't need a physical object for a memory.

Detroit needs to focus on their truly decaying eyesores numerously scattered across the city, like a couple of blocks west the fabulous ruins of the old train station. Tear that down first and let Ernie have a chance to at least preserve a corner of this wonderful Detroit memory. Please? Kwame?

The Tigers should have moved the Mad Hens up here to play at Tiger Stadium instead of building that new one in Toledo

Will miss the old stadium-but why pay the Mudhens to train here when it is probably cheaper to do business in Toledo.

I just don't get it, Detroit is in debt for millions of dollars right? Will the demolition of the stadium be free of charge? Or will the mayor and his friends and family benefit off this to. Bring up the ruined neighborhoods and put those wanna be american gansters in prison and get the school system together to teach these dizzy girls that having babies isn't a future for welfare with drug dealing daddies.

For every school that closes, and for every parent that refuses to teach their children respect for authority in these classrooms, and every person that promotes drugs and drinks and violence and babies having babies, Thanks to the POLITCAL LEADERS and don't forget the theives that control the school budget Thanks because the children don't to be educated they want to grow up on welfare and be drug dealers or a rapper or a naked video dancer that's the life.

Get the killers of that young girl that was beaten by the mayor's wife and weeks later she ended up dead. DO SOMETHING ABOUT THAT!!!!!!
The stadium doesn't put a dollar in my bank account, and the nice clean places to visit and shop away from the drug dealers and the hoodlum kids are in better surrounding cites anyway.

It's time for something new to be done at the corner, where many great baseball players once played baseball. What we have at that same corner now is dim lighting, which breeds crime like car jackings. Corktown can do better than what stands at the corner now.

With the money it cost to build Comerica, it could of been used to preserve Tiger Stadium.
This city if for nothing else needed a Beautiful memory from the past to still share with the present. To me it will be saddening to see this Grand Old Ball Park torn down.
Detroit has absolutely nothing from the grand past. I can still see in my mind the old Train Station. The marble floors, the Beautiful ceiling and hand carved woodwork. This entire city has been wasted away, from the beginning of the Coleman Young Regime. Someone should of Demolished that piece of S**T. Maybe Detroit wouldn't of ended up the way it has. And the present mayor is a chip off Young's block.
IGNORANT & DESTRUCTIVE.

It is time for it to go and they should make the owner of that ugly old train station remove it too. As you are driving into the city on 96 that ugly thing looms in the distance and you wonder if you really want to be there.
