Governor Jennifer Granholm gave her annual State of the State address Tuesday night in Lansing. What did you think of the governor's speech? Do you agree or disagree with her proposals? Post your comments below:

I think it may be a typical election year plot for the Democrats, especially since they were so weak in their frontrunner support here. Granholm is now well-known for making eloquent speeches & promises as well as timely guest appearances in Detroit, etc. One could speculate & bet that after the elections, it will be typical Granholm as usual when she fades into the woodwork. One could hope for the best in her speech but not bank on it.

Jennifer gave a great speech, and I am very much excited about the upcoming year. Did you notice the difference between her speech and George Bush's Both sides of the isle kept standing and applauding. Now before you start on me you need to have noticed there are a lot of plans that are set into motion, and that isn't accomplished by a terrible businesswoman. Time will tell and only that will write Jennifer's place in history.

Two penny Jenny needs to take a hike and come down from her throne. There never a tax she doesn't like and she always blames us NASTY people for taking education away from out poor children... over 80% of the Michigan tax dollar goes to education plans.

She's a do nothing dreamer with no action, she is only interested in getting herself in a higher profile position, in other offices she's held she never finished her term, she would throw her hat in the ring every time a higher position came up... don't be surprised if she runs to capitol hill if Hillary gets elected... OH RHERES A SICKENING THOUGHT..
two no talent women who scream speeches and make big promises with no result and Bill Clinton and Kwame can go out and "cruise the D.C.chicks"

The only good thing about this is Two Penny Jenny would be GONE! You all should have educated yourself better and voted for DeVoss when you had the chance rather than being bi-partisan and voting democrat or nothing at all.. hopefully you'll learn from that mistake and vote smarter in the presidential elections!

RON PAUL 2008!

Well, I wasn't blown away. Just more of her empty rhetoric. The things that was good in her speach were the Republican ideas she has finally apparently been convinced of. Have you ever heard of a Democrat recommending lowering taxes on their own? You still haven't. Go Senate!!!

DeVoss was and is exactly what's wrong with Michigan He Laid off 1/3 of his work force, Built in China and imported from there, took his money off shore, and lastly bought an 18 million dollar tax break.

But I'm sorry Michigander's aren't supposed to remember right?

Has Ron Paul quit yet?

She is so in need of a new idea. More of the same, empty vision, false hope and sticking her hands in pension fund cookie jars! Who does she think she is? I would rather her stay here and finish up her term than go to DC and help Billary (if she gets elected-NOT) and crap on the entire USA, as she will. She has done nothing to help get us out of this mess and taking a paycheck every two weeks. Go back to Canada already. Maybe Mitt Romney will move back and run for Governor and get us back on the right track.

At least DeVoss had a more global outlook for Michigan than Granholm does; Sure, he made investments elsewhere but that is the way business is conducted these days when states like Michigan are so slow to make the tur towards the 21st century. Her speech was eloquent and I do question her enthusiasm because this is the same type of speech that Michiganders endured the last time the political doors swung open. One could hope for the best but I have my doubts based on her track record. Look at the $350 million "budget surplus" that was suddenly discovered earky this month. And it was nopt from past the new fiscal year of October 1st either. Is it not feasable to give that money back to the taxpayers that paid it to stimulate rather than stifle the state economy? Too much like right. Then again, what does Granholm care-Just like Bush, she is on her way out the door too.

Anyone can deliver a great speech. I'll believe it when I see action behind the words.

I met yesterday with a Co. Gen.Man., who has cut his roster from 18 to 4 people. They cut their office space, when lease is up, everyone left will work out of their homes via e-mail etc. Not for lack of business but for State Reg's., and TAXES. As soon a the SBT was killed, the search went out to REPLACE it! Sorry Jen, that wasn't the idea....

Along with the same groups of the new & past generations that buy foreign & send their American dollars to a foreign plate? Granholm should get involved more in the State's #1 industry by getting rid of the slackers & placing better QC on our products. Who really cares how much of an American cars' makeup is foreign?-The dollars still would stay where they are needed most. Keep buying foreign & support others while your American co-workers are standing in line at the American-based foreign automakers. Granholm has kept Michigan dead last in the leap to the 21st century by her lack of business sense which all of the sudden appeared last night. Time will tell again, Jenny!

BTW, how many SHOULD be seeking fuel alternatives like bio, ethanol, solar, etc????? The automakers are on the right track with hybrids but they need to put them in the market alot faster. Of course, Bush & the oil guys are against that. Granholm needs to come out of her granny outfits & use the most well-known resource Michigan has and is stuck with-The Big Three. I wanna toss up when I see so many Hondas, Toyotas, and Nissans on our highways. It is a blatant slap in the face tom all American workers and companies. Period.

He is not going to resign. We can act.
Please remember that legal charges have not yet been filed. No official legal investigation has been conducted and no conclusions drawn.

If you really want to create enough pressure to improve Detroit, starting with the removal of Kwame Kilpatrick, a very orderly campaign MUST be conducted.

Please don't just complain, do this instead. You do not have to be a Detroit resident to do this: without hurting any vendors or frittering our energies (and I am very open to suggestions), I would like to propose this:

Share the background story with people:

Go to this link to get a complaint form from the City of Detroit Board of Ethics, complete and file it:

http://www.ci.detroit.mi.us/BoardOfEthics/downloadable_

forms.htm.

Write to Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy stressing the need to conduct a full and thorough investigation and to prosecute both Beatty and Kilpatrick. They should receive the same thorough investigation -- and the same treatment -- as any US citizen.

Contact link is on the left banner:
http://www.waynecounty.com/prosecutor/default.asp

Write to the local FBI and CC the national office, requesting a full investigation into the Detroit Police Department because the officers who were fired were not protected even after repeated reports of mayoral misconduct.

Call (202) 324-3000 or write to the following address:

Write the FBI a second letter asking that Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox be investigated because he did not allow complaints and testimony from the various officers who filed complaints as substantial to the whistle blower's trial.

These members of the Detroit City Council have supported an investigation and have effectively been denied: Monica Conyers and JoAnn Watson.

Write to them at their offices and cc all other council members:

t.htm

Key points to make are these:

Both Kilpatrick and Beatty knew they were lying under oath, and rejected an earlier settlement that would have saved the city millions. That money could and should have gone toward city improvements and services.

....Tamara Greene is dead and the investigation forcibly closed. Many lives have been ruined, including those of the officers fired and demoted. Detroiters live in fear because of this. everyone you know.
This came from sensiblewomyn yesterday on the "Should Kwame resign blog. I feel this is valuable information, and am passing it on to all these blogs. I have already written my letter, if you're a concerned citizen, please do the same!
