The Mitchell Report will be released today and upwards of 80 Major League Baseball players, current and former, are reported to be outed as using performance-enhancing drugs.

Questions to ponder:
Will this report generate any change in baseball?
Will it tell anything we didn't know (or assume) already?
Does this change your opinion of the sport as a fan?
Was this report worth the reported $25-$60M that is cost to generate?

I think like the Olympics their names should be removed from all records. If they are in the Hall of Fame remove them. The records are Man's achievements in the game not superman's.

Actually, it isn't worth the wasted tax dollars if they don't address the issue; Take the Barry Bonds case for a prime example. And the players that stepped up before & exposed themselves & others using steroids. It will becoma an "accepted" issue, just putting asterisks next to records broken. A cheater is a cheater and the athletes that use steroids these days are in no way comparable to the actual athletes that made the records. What a disgrace for children to admire such a fake and the role model image is shattered by these losers.

After seeing the names on the Mitchell Report, it occurs to me if they allow guys like Roger Clemens, and Barry Bonds to be considered for the Hall of Fame, then why not consider Pete Rose? It appears it might come down to Steroids vs. Gambling! Pete, by far was one of the purest baseball players ever to play the game, if not the best hitter of all time. So, which of the two offenses has tainted Baseball???

I believe MLB Commissioner, Allan (Bud) Selig, has always been a stand-up guy, who encourages players, coaches and team GM's to act responsibly if they want to play at the professional level. He says the league will deal with the steroid issue on a case-by-case basis. To me, cheating is not acting responsibly. It doesn't matter if "x" number of people are doing it.

Success at any cost is usually not worth it in the long-run. Steroid use to enhance performance in sports is one example.

Preformance enhancement drug use gives athletes an unfair advantage. Any player that tests positive does not have the right to win anything.

Clemens is no big surprise-Look how he turned his back on the Red Sox in his quest for rings. And Barry Bonds? His off-field personna is a joke-He dosen't sign autographs & dosen't contribute anything to the Hall Of Fame-Ironically, his stuff would be worthless trash now anyway. I like Gary Sheffield but it wouldn't surprise me with the attitudes he has with baseball officials and society. They'll just make two separate record books and drug abuse will have another issue of support.

The Mayor's reply in court to the question of an affair included his comment that a woman accused of that would be a BLEEP (or words to that effect.) Now that this news is broken I wonder if he wishes that he had answered that question differently.
