And the award goes to...

The 2007 Academy Awards nominees were announced Tuesday morning in Beverly Hills and there were a few surprises that came along.

First off, 'Dreamgirls' led the way with eight nominations, but was left off of the Best Picture list, surprising many that had it pegged as the year's best film.

And how about Eddie Murphy coming onto the Oscar scene? Leo gets the nods in 'Blood Diamond' instead of in 'The Departed.' And 'Little Miss Sunshine' gets plenty of love from the academy.

What are you thoughts? Your favorites and your surprises? Blog a comment below and let us know!

Here's a complete list of the nominees:

1. Best Picture: "Babel," "The Departed," "Letters From Iwo Jima," "Little Miss Sunshine," "The Queen."

2. Actor: Leonardo DiCaprio, "Blood Diamond"; Ryan Gosling, "Half Nelson"; Peter O'Toole, "Venus"; Will Smith, "The Pursuit of Happyness"; Forest Whitaker, "The Last King of Scotland."

My biggest surprise (I should preface this by saying that I haven't seen 'Dreamgirls' yet) is Jennifer Hudson getting the nod for supporting actress.

I think it's because she was on 'American Idol,' and like it or not, that show is a machine that just can't be stopped.

On Feb 25th the Academy Awards will take place and these are my hopefuls that I'm cheering and routing for... yeah some are just racially motivated, but its been a long time coming and the Oscars need some colors

Supporting Actress - Jennifer Hudson (although that little girl from Little Ms. Sunshine would be so cute and she was pretty good in the film around all those formidable stars)

Supporting Actress - I'm rooting for Eddie Murphy but the guy from blood diamond which I won't attempt to spell his name can get it too. He was way good in that one - although he's scared the bejesus out of me in constantine.

Actress - Meryl Strep should win because I loved The Devil movie immensely and comedies rarely get attention like the Oscars. But I will inwardly root for Penelope Cruz because she's a minority.

Actor - Leonardo deserves something for Blood Diamond and for working his BLEEP off, but Eddie has my vote. He's waited 25 years for some recognition and I think people will really side with him. I think Forest Whittaker should really take the honor of this though, because he was so powerful in the King movie.

Directing: I'm leaning to Clint but since he's got one already it's really open.

Original Screenplay: Little Ms Sunshine! Most definitely. I'm partial to comedies.

Adapted Screenplay: Of course Borat was a surprise to be nominated for me. It was a funny movie, but oh my gawd. But I'm rooting for Notes on a Scandal. For some reason my gut is telling me this, but it could be just hunger.

Foreign Language: I think it will go to The Lives of Others, (th
