Why do I care? This entire issue is about much more than just a religion. It is about a double standard. People who claim all they want is tolerance and equality repeatedly refuse to give what they wish to receive. In the beginning all the homosexual community said is they want tolerance. That soon evolved into "equality" (which already exists under the law) and that quickly became an elitist mentality. It is all about pushing an agenda with which they know the majority of the country does not agree and will never accept. It is about forcing a private organization to accept a practice that is a direct violation of their core belief system.

I do not care with whom someone falls in love or with whom they choose to engage in a relationship. It is everyone's right to pursue happiness as long as they do not infringe upon the rights of others. By using ceaseless litigation in order to force people and organizations to not only tolerate but accept something they deem to be wrong, the minority homosexual community continues to force their lifestyle on the majority. That is exactly what you profess and accuse the religious people of doing. Can you not see the hypocrisy in this movement?

All I am saying is that if you desire tolerance and acceptance, you must give it out yourself and I have yet to see any of that from the homosexual community. Respect is something you must earn and the tactics used by those of the homosexual community and their sympathizers are not worthy of respect.

Equality on the law books does not equal equality. When they can marry the person they desire, like the rest of us, then they have equality. The 14th Amendment guarantee's that they should have equal rights. But they don't. And the LDS church spent millions trying to keep it that way.

That is wrong. If I want tolerance of homosexuals that does not mean that I must tolerate everything. I will not tolerate bigotry. Why the hell should I ever have to tolerate bigotry?

Homosexuals are not trying to change the way the church 'believes'. It is trying to change the way the church 'acts'. I think that your own bigotry is blinding you. Or is it you just like calling people that happen to disagree with you names? Perhaps it is your utter hatred for religion that blinds you to your own bigotry. It is very easy to call people names rather than have a substantive conversation and try to help those who fail to understand this issue.

I have no bigotry towards homosexuals (or anyone else for that matter) I just do not understand why people want to change something such as the mormon church knowing full well what their stand is on this particular issue. Your reply has done absolutely nothing to further my understanding (or lack thereof).

I only see bigotry (see, I can use that word too) against the religious from the majority of those who speak out against the mormon religion. Again, where is the animosity towards other religions that do not allow homosexuality? The mormon church is a private entity. They do not have to accept anyone they do not want, that is THEIR right. If you want to call that bigotry, that is YOUR right.

However, if you want to be part of the mormon church, you should accept their religion as it is and not ask or demand it to change for you. If you require the organization to change for you then is that not a very big clue that perhaps it is not the right fit for you? You are truly the master at using a lot of words to say absolutely nothing. If all you can answer is I am a bigot, then why on earth did you even reply here? Do you fail to see your own bigotry in your utter intolerance for a differing point of view on this issue? Real progressive of you is it not?

The same old name calling tactics you constantly employ is really old and does nothing to benefit the issue at hand. It only demonstrates to everyone that you are, in fact, what you profess me to be. I am a bigot, you are a bigot, we are all bigots in some way because in your mind anyone that opposes something or stands up for what they believe to be right which may offend someone else is a bigot.

Concerning your advice of asking a "committed gay couple," I thought I was already doing that by posting this blog. As of yet none have answered so perhaps they do not get it either. I suppose that makes you better than all of us because you seem to be the only one here that does get it. Perhaps we religious people should all be worshiping you instead as you seem to be omnipotent.

Straight people think that when it comes to gay people, they choose to be attracted to the same sex...

If Gay people simply choose whom they are attracted to than it has to work the same way for straight people... You can't have double standards!!! If Gay's choose to be attracted to the same sex then Straight's choose to be attracted to the opposite sex...

But when I ask straight people if they could simply choose to change their attraction to the same sex, the answer is No...

Because I can't change whom I find attractive, I am attracted to whom I am attracted to, simple as that!

So what is it exactly that makes a person find another person attractive?
