Today is an unprecedented day in American history.

Today, we became a nation of socialism for the wealthy.

There isn't even a term or name for it.  Privitunism?  Socialenterprise?

But regardless of what you call it, it's still a pig!  Today we are the only civilized, industrialized nation in the world to socialize big business and investment banking!  Our government, which is supposedly you and me, today just took the risk out of investing.  And that changes everything!  We can't call our system "free market" anymore.

Our government is guaranteeing profits for the wealthy!  Taking away the risks of bad investments - but not for you and me, oh no, only for the wealthiest, Wall Street tycoon.  All that talk of Main Street?  Just like the man behind the curtain in the Wizard of Oz, phony.

Most countries who practice any socialism (which is most) usually take the "social" part pretty seriously and use it for things that benefit EVERYONE.  Most countries would have TAKEN OVER the failing industries and nationalized them before handing them welfare money as we have.  Which really is the same thing, except we let the rich owners continue to rake in the profits while failing - the right way would be to remove leadership who fails pififully and give the people ownership stake in the companies.

Make no mistake, this is a non-partisan issue.  Today, we started a new welfare program.  Today, we started a "New Deal".  Today, we started socialized welfare for the richest investment tycoons.

Today may be the beginning of the end of the prosperity of average Americans as we know it.  WE'LL be paying taxes to HAND OVER to people worth 5, 10, 25, 100 MILLION dollars!

Too bad we started this downward spiral by electing an oil tycoon con man and a Republican Congress in the name of religion and guns (religious groups and the NRA, after all, are what got Bush and Republicans elected to begin with).  Too bad we made the same mistake twice.

But it will be a national tragedy if we make the same mistake three times.

You know, I'll give you credit, you've got a lot of it right in what you said up there and this is so very sad for all of us. When we do bottom out now, which we most definately will and before to long, with this "bailout" it is going to be SO much worse and the painfull part may be, I believe our government knows it!

What you did not get right though, is the time frame. It did not start in 2000 when this admin. took over, it started in the 70's, gained momentum in the 80's and climaxed in the 90's. From the late 90's on we have been on borrowed time. The writing was on the wall and even Bill Clinton has admitted this.

I'm at a loss, honestly, all of us are and our own governement and the media has hung us out to dry. The government is no longer a government by the people/for the people and the media is no more than a cheering section for them. I don't even think I'll vote at this point. It just doesn't matter anymore......Welcome to the USSA!

The Marshall plan.
The United Nations.
The Truman Doctrine.
Nato.
Social Security.

President Bush mistake was not pushing for a sur-tax increase across the board ,the same way President Johnson did during the hated Vietnam War.

The blame for the housing problems,is the liberal Media Alone.

There is 'No Power is Mightier Than The Pen.".

The politician, government and the people marches to the sound of the wailing of the mighty Pen..

The wailing cry of the Liberal Media is a noble cry, but, like cries to Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny and Faith, its best left to the Dreamers and our Creator..

Sicko - well, I guess you're one of those wealthy pig investors you like to complain about so much since I'd be willing to bet that some of your retirement (401k or your mattress liner) probably contains some of those securities.

How does it feel now to be one of those greedy pigs?

Sick of the extreme right wing profiteers commandeering this country putting profits ahead of people. I'm old enough to remember when the government represented the people, not just the wealthiest of the wealthy. But that doesn't mean I don't love my two cute little Fox Terriers and all doggies! But we all need to have some fun every now and then, in the face of a continuing and harrowing threat from the extremists and fanatics to take our freedom and our money as they force their agenda on all of us. We need to take our country back, and we can have fun doing it! Life under Obama will just be more fun - no more hangups about prayer in schools or burning flags, we'll just get on with life! Here's hoping we don't make yet another four year mistake - More of the Same Pain McCain, or Obama, we'll choose, and live with the decision for four more years. I think the choice is clear, don't you?
