We've all been there.  You take your car into a shop for an oil change.  You watch as the mechanic starts poking around your car and soon hear the inevitable..."Uh oh!  Got a problem here!"

Now, you're at his mercy as he explains to you that your 'discombobulator' is worn out and your 'whatzit' is shot.  Your routine oil change is now going to cost you big bucks.  You pay up and drive off several hundred dollars broker but with the peace of mind that having a new 'discombobulator' under the hood brings.  That is, until you start wondering if you really needed the work.

Monday night on Fox 2 News at ten, I'll show you a shop that charges great rates on brakes...and they'll put them on your car whether you need them or not!  Do you need a brake job...or is this just a con job?  My special Hall of Shame investigation just might put the brakes on some of these shifty shops.

How about you?  Got an opinion on shifty car repair shops?

I know the guys at Lee's transmition shop at 9mi. & gratiot are the best .It cost me about 10,000 bucks to find them , but I will never take a vehicle to any one else . They also tell me where to take my car for other repairs . They have done me well for over a decade now .

These guys are so honest , maby it's because they are family owned or they just tell you up front . I took a car in that I was sure needed a trans. overhaul . It ended up being a linkage that was causing the trans to malfunction . Instead of paying 1,800 dollars , it cost me 75 dollars . If anyone takes their car there , tell Darrel you caught it on the blog .

I love it when the Fox 2 guys go after bad car shops. There are enough of them around that you could do stories for a year. Get them Rob.

My dad dropped his car off once to get an oil change. He carved his initials on the oil filter to see if they actually changed it. Guess what? All this place did was wipe the old oil filter off so it would look new. My dad showed the mechanic his initials. His face was very red. The oil change was free and so was the new oil filter.

Hey Rob , cracking down on all these thieves that work on cars is a good thing . You do a great job . When you find an honest mechanic , it would be nice to know about them too . I've allready mentioned Lees' transmission shop , I would also like to mention Lisk auto repair located on Kelly road just south of 15 mi. rd . A real honest guy that does good work . Don't expect it done fast , expect it to get done wright .
