If you go to a police officer's funeral and don't at least tear up... you're not human.  At Spree DeSha's mass and ceremony today, the female LAPD officer who died on the Metrolink train ....there were a lot of tears ... cops know how to do funerals... unfortunately....the doves, the riderless horse, the missing man formation..the 21 gun salute, the honor guard,. the formality, the folded flag presented to the grieving parents... and spouse.. and in this case... the spouse of Spree De Sha was also  a 'she' .. or perhaps the correct term is 'life partner.''. and the great thing was.. it didnt matter.  The fact that an openly gay officer , and her partner, also an LAPD officer, was laid to rest with full honors as she should be and her sexual orientation just a fact along w/ her age and her years of service is a remarkable occurence in this organization.  As my colleage Tony Valdez put it while we were discussing this, the LAPD  , 'had to be dragged kicking and screaming'' down the road to gay rights and equality.   Not unlike many other macho organizations.. acceptance of gays in the ranks came w/ a considerable amount of , blood and tears and lawsuits ....I think of former LAPD cop Mitch Grobeson who may still be battling various appeals of his landmark fight against the LAPD for all i know... of the days when gay cops or cops even suspected of being gay would roll on calls and suddenly find themselve with no backup.  So when an LAPD Deputy Chief presents a flag and hugs the 'life partner ' of a late officer and no one blinks an eye.. that my friends is real progress.  I hope no neanderthals in the ranks were rolling their eyes. if they were, they need a vacation.. a permanent one. it's 2008.

I guess the demacrats are right in that
if you say it enough, and you are around it enough, you actually believe it to be true or factual. I'm understanding a little more about why you are hugged up with BIG MAC in the picture. :-)

Oh geez, I agree with DfD again, but not his choice of words. Why did you make it such a big deal to repeatedly mention the officers homosexuality? And although I will never disrespect them, and believe we all should have equal rights, I’ll never understand why that particular sin is accepted, praised, and thought of as normal, when none of the other sins are. It’s not fair. Why are whores looked down upon or thieves or liars?

I’ll accept that sin when all the other sins are accepted as well. If it’s OK for Brad and Angie, it’s OK for me.

Gwinnett Daily Post -- Lawrenceville, Georgia
Immigration status to be checked
Gwinnett officials this week began checking the immigration status of people applying for an occupation tax certificate, which is commonly referred to as a business license. -- The standard puts the county in compliance with a state law passed in 2006. -- "I'm elated," said D.A. King of the Dustin Inman Society...

Obama has voted with Vermont's Bernie Sanders(I), the only Senator who admits he's a socialist, 95% of the time.

it's horrible we lost a rising star of a cop. i was thinking maybe a terrorist took control of the train, yet the cop in the first car would probably have gotten involved. so what if there were two terrorists? did anyone in the first car survive? i'm just speculating, what is the possibility the engineer of the metrolink wanted to create a massive wreck while committing suicide? oh, someone on talk radio mentioned these ideas? i don't hear much talk radio. Phil might do the probing.

.. been in LA since '83... aside from the traffic and an occassional earthquake it's awesome.. why wouldn't you want to live here ? I have a great job.. the people here are fun... I get to do what we call ''long form'' stories, investigations, half hour specials.. we can really get into some serious issues here... ( no not Britney). Someday i hope to meet Jillian. Later.
